Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of thin resin film between a mold and a frame and to eliminate the process to remove the film by a method wherein the surface supporting the lead frame of the mold used when a semiconductor device is sealed with resin are made aventurine surfaces. CONSTITUTION:Between an upper mold 3 and a lower mold 4, each provided with a projection, a lead frame 2 is inserted through the projections. Next, cavity 7 produced between the upper mold 3 and the lower mold 4 is filled in with resin 1, and thereby a resin-sealed semiconductor device is formed. In this case, thin resin film 5 is formed on the front and back surfaces of the lead frame 2 in contact with the projections, and it becomes necessary to remove the film 5 after metal molds 3 and 4 are removed. For this reason, the surfaces of the projections which fasten the frame 2 are made aventurine surfaces 16, and aventurine surface 16 are fitted onto the frame 2. Thus, gaps between them are eliminated, and intrusion of resion 1 is blocked. By this, cost is reduced, and the frame 2 does not deviate at the time of sealing.
