Abstract

PURPOSE:To readily obtain the multicolor images of uniform image quality at high density by using three kinds of chargers. CONSTITUTION:The 1st, 2nd chargers 2, 7 and a polarity-controlling charger 6 are disposed around a photosensitive drum 1 which comprises coating the surface of a conductive metal roller 1a with photoconductive metal. The entire surface of the photosensitive drum 1 is charged to positive polarity with the 1st charger 2 and is exposed with original images with an optical filter 3. The images are developed with a magnetic brush developing device 4 to form black toner images, after which they are charged to negative polarity with the 2nd charger 7, are thence destaticized with a destaticizing lamp 10 and are further recharged with the 1st charger 2, after which the orixinal is exposed with the optical filter 3 and is developed with a pressure developer 5, whereby red color toner images are formed. After the both toner images are polarity-controlled with the polarity-controlling charger 6, they are transferred onto recording paper 8. Thereby, the surface potential of the photosensitive drum 1 after the second electrostatic image formation process is set at the constant positive polarity irrespective of the presence or not of the black color toner images and the reverse deposition of the black color toner to the photosensitive drum 1 at the second electrostatic latent image formation is prevented.
