Abstract

PURPOSE: To make intensified removal of the soot having attached to the surface of the heat transfer pipe of heat exchangers for recovering the heat of combustion exhaust gas such as economizer by spraying said heat transfer pipe with the fluid in which powder material are mixed and suspended.
CONSTITUTION: The exhaust gas of a diesel engine is led to an economizer 2 through a duct 1, cooled down by a heat transfer pipe 12, passed through a duct 6 and a separator 7, and discharged through a duct 9. If the soot contained in said exhaust gas has attached to the surface of said heat transfer pipe 12 in this condition, the surface of said heat transfer pipe 12 is sprayed with the fluid obtained by mixing and suspending in the exhaust gas flowing in said duct 1 the powder material supplied from a hopper 3 through a shoot 5 by operating a rotary feeder 4 to remove said soot by thus-generated impact force. Said powder material is supplied to said duct 6 from said hopper 10 through said rotary feeder 11. If a large amount of soot has attached, a soot blowing piping 15 is connected to said duct 1 for suspending said powder material in high-velocity gas flow.
