Abstract

PURPOSE: To lower the exhaust temperature and the ambient temperature and to prevent the exhaustion of sulfate compound into the air by purifying and cooling the flare combustion gas with water.
CONSTITUTION: The cooling water jetted from a spray nozzle 7 flows down along the surface of a filler 5 and drops to the bottom part of a combustion chamber. The combustion gas lowers from an after-burner part 4b and through a space formed by a cooling chamber and a refractory lining 2 and then, making a U-turn, passes through the filler 5. On the occasion, the cooling of the gas and the absorption and removal of combustion products are made by the cooling water flowing down on the surface of the filler 5, and the gas is further cooled in contact with the spray water from above and goes out from an outlet 16 to a funnel.
