Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the above-identified device, in which the exhaust gas is passed through a number of fine cooling tubes provided as an intermediate portion of an exhaust tube for cooling the exhaust gas and preventing fater-burning.
CONSTITUTION: The exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine flows through a number of fine cooling tubes provided as an intermediate portion of an exhaust tube 4. As the exhaust gas passes through the fine cooling tubes 7, which are cooled and held at a low temperature by wind provided by the vehicle speed, the flame is cooled down and extinguished, so that ignition to the non-combusted gas remaining in a muffler or the like downstream the exhaust tube 4 is prevented to prevent after- burning. When the sum of the sectional areas of the fine cooling tubes 7 is set to be greater than the sectional area of the exhaust tube 4, the resistance to the exhaust gas at the time of the normal operation is not increased. The cooling effect can be further increased by incereasing the speed of air striking the fine cooling tubes 7 with wind introduced from an inlet 8 through a cooling air guide 10.
