Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a heat-transmitting pipe from being clogged, by a method wherein an exhaust gas is saturated with water vapor at a position upstream of a heat absorbing part of a heat exchanger so that the water vapor in the exhaust gas is condensed on the surface of the heat-transmitting pipe.
CONSTITUTION: The high-temperature exhaust gas containing dust is introduced into the heat-absorbing part 4 of the heat exchanger 1 through a duct 7a. In this case, water or water vapor 16 is sprayed from a spray nozzles 8 in the duct 7a, whereby the exhaust gas is fed into heat-absorbing part 4 of the exchanger 1 in the condition of being fully or substantially saturated with water vapor. When the exhaust gas in said saturated condition is subjected to the exchange of heat through the heat-transmitting pipe 6 in the heat-absorbing part 4, the water vapor contained in the exhaust gas is condensed on the surface of the pipe 6. The resulting water traps the dust contained in the exhaust gas, flows down and is directed into a separation tank 10. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent a reduction of heat-transmitting efficiency from occuring due to clogging of the heat-transmitting pipe with dust.
