Abstract

PURPOSE:To give high strength and relaxation resistance to a nonmagnetic steel of a predetermined compsn. by subjecting the steel to predetermined cold working and/or warm working. CONSTITUTION:A steel contg. C<=1.5%, Si; 0.1-1.5%, Mn; 5-30% and N<= 0.5%, and satisfying 100/9(C+N)+2Mn>=25% is subjected to cold working at below 600 deg.C and a reduction ratio below 90%. The steel may contain one or more out of Cu<=5%, Ni<=5% and Cr<=9%, satisfying 100/9(C+N)+2(Mn+Cu+2Ni) >=25%. The steel may further contain one or more out of P; 0.05-0.5%, V; 0.01-4%, Nb; 0.01-4%, Ti; 0.05-4%, Zr; 0.05-4%, W; 0.05-4% and Al; 0.02-1%.
