Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.正の誘電異方性を有する極性化合物の混合物を基材とする液晶媒体であって 、下記一般式Iで表わされる1種または2種以上の化合物を含有することを特徴 とする液晶媒体: 式中、 Rは、Hであるか、または炭素原子1〜15個を有するアルキル基またはアル ケニル基であり、この基は未置換であるか、または置換基として1個のCNまた はCF3を有するか、または置換基として少なくとも1個のハロゲンを有してお り、またこれらの基中に存在する1個または2個以上のCH2基はそれぞれ相互 に独立して、O原子が相互に直接に結合しないものとして、−O−、−S O−に より置き換えられていてもよく、 Yは、FまたはClであるか、あるいは炭素原子1〜6個を有するハロゲン化 されているアルキル、アルケニルまたはアルコキシ基であり、そして L1は、HまたはFである。 2.下記一般式II、III、IV、VおよびVIからなる群から選択される1 種または2種以上の化合物をさらに含有することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載 の媒体: 式中、各基は下記の意味を有する: R0:それぞれ7個までの炭素原子を有するn−アルキル、オキサアルキル、 フルオロアルキルまたはアルケニル、 X0:FまたはCl、あるいは炭素原子1〜6個を有するハロゲン化されてい るアルキル、アルケニルまたはアルコキシ、 Y1およびY2:それぞれ相互に独立して、HまたはF、 r:0または1。 3.式I〜VIで表わされる化合物の割合が一緒になって、総混合物の少なくと も50重量%であることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の媒体。 4.式Iで表わされる化合物の割合が、総混合物の3〜80重量%であることを 特徴とする、請求項1または2に記載の媒体。 5.式II〜VIで表わされる化合物の割合が、総混合物の20〜80重量%で あることを特徴とする、請求項2および3の少なくとも1項に記載の媒体。 6.下記式で表わされる化合物をさらに含有することを特徴とする、請求項1に 記載の媒体: 式中、R0、X0およびY2は請求項2に定義されているとおりである。 7.X0がFまたはOCF3であり、そしてY2がHまたはFであることを特徴と する、請求項6に記載の媒体。 8.式Iで表わされる化合物中に存在するYがF、OCF3、OCHF2、OCH FCF3、OCH2CF3、OCH=CF2またはOC2F5であることを特徴とする 、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の媒体。 9.式Iで表わされる化合物において、Y1=L1=Fであることを特徴とする、 請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の媒体。 10.請求項1に記載の液晶媒体の電気光学用途における使用。 11.請求項1に記載の液晶媒体を含有する電気光学液晶ディスプレイ。
