Abstract
Description
Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.カラーフィルターを有する液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、該方法が、 第1支持部材、該第1支持部材に固定される複数の第1電極、液晶層、少なく とも1個の第2電極および実質的に透明な第2支持部材を順に組み立てる工程を 包含し、 化学放射線への曝露時に、異なる3色を形成し得る画像形成可能層を該第1支 持部材と該第2支持部材との間に配置し;そして その後、該画像形成可能層を化学放射線に曝露して、第1色、第2色および第 3色の複数のフィルター要素をその中に形成させ、該フィルター要素を該第1電 極と配列し、それにより、該第1支持部材と該第2支持部材との間に位置するカ ラーフィルターを形成することを特徴とする、方法。 2.前記第1電極の反復特徴が検出され、化学放射線への前記曝露が、前記フ ィルター要素が該反復特徴と整合して形成されるように制御されることを特徴と する、請求項1に記載の方法。 3.前記フィルター要素の少なくとも一部が、前記第1電極のいくつかと前記 第2電極との間に電位差を印加し、一方、他の該第1電極と該第2電極との間に は電位差を印加せず、それによって、前記液晶層の一部分を実質的に放射線不透 過性とし、一方、該液晶層の他の部分を放射線透過性とし、そして該化学放射線 を該液晶層に通し、それによって、該液晶層の透過性部分に隣接する該画像形成 可能層部分のみに、該画像形成可能層の曝露を引き起こすことにより形成される ことを特徴とする、前出の請求項のいずれかに記載の方法。 4.前記第1電極および前記第2電極の選択されたものの間に電位差を印加し 、それにより、該選択電極間の液晶を実質的に放射線不透過性とし、そして該液 晶層に可視パターンを形成し;その後、放射線スポットの位置を該液晶層におけ る該パターンに関して制御しながら、前記画像形成可能層を横切って、少なくと も1スポットの化学放射線を移動させて、前記フィルター要素を形成することを 特 徴とする、請求項1または2に記載の方法。 5.前記色形成組成物が、化学放射線を吸収し得る放射線吸収剤と該放射線吸 収剤による放射線の吸収時に前記着色材料を形成するロイコ染料とを含有するこ とを特徴とする、前出の請求項のいずれか1項に記載の方法。 6.前記化学放射線の吸収時に、前記放射線吸収剤が前記画像形成可能層内に 熱を発生し、そして前記ロイコ染料が熱反応を受けて前記着色材料を形成するこ とを特徴とする、請求項5に記載の方法。 7.前記化学放射線の吸収時に、前記放射線吸収剤が前記画像形成可能層内に 酸を発生し、該酸への曝露時に前記ロイコ染料が前記着色材料を形成することを 特徴とする、請求項5に記載の方法。 8.前記画像形成可能層が、さらに、前記放射線吸収剤により吸収される化学 放射線の波長より短い波長の化学放射線により分解して超酸を形成し得る超酸前 駆体を含有し、該超酸前駆体が、該放射線吸収剤の非存在下では、該放射線吸収 剤により吸収される化学放射線により分解されないが、該放射線吸収剤および該 放射線吸収剤により吸収される化学放射線の存在下で分解して、該放射線吸収剤 から誘導したプロトン化生成物を生成し、そして前記色形成組成物が、さらに、 熱分解して第二酸を形成し得る二次酸発生剤を含有し、該二次酸発生剤の熱分解 が、該超酸前駆体から誘導した超酸の存在下で触媒され、そして、前記ロイコ染 料が、該第2酸の存在下で変化を受けて、前記着色材料を形成する、請求項7に 記載の方法。 9.前記放射線吸収剤が非プロトン化形態およびプロトン化形態を有し、該プ ロトン化形態が第1波長範囲にて該非プロトン化形態よりも実質的に大きな実質 吸収を有することを特徴とする、請求項8に記載の方法。 10.前記第1支持部材が、非平面ガラスのシートから形成され、そして前記 第2支持部材がプラスチックのシートから形成されることを特徴とする、前出の 請求項のいずれか1項に記載の方法。 11.偏光層が前記第2支持部材と前記第2電極との間に配置されることを特 徴とする、請求項10に記載の方法。 12.互いに間隔を開けて配置した複数のフィルター要素を含むカラーフィル ターを有する液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、該表示装置が、さらに、該間隔 を開けて配置したフィルター要素間の間隙を覆う本質的に不透明なグリッドを含 み、該方法が、 第1支持部材、該第1支持部材に固定した複数の第1電極、液晶層、少なくと も1つの第2電極および実質的に透明な第2支持部材を順に組み立てる工程を包 含し、 該第1支持部材と該第2支持部材との間に共に配置されるカラーフィルターお よび画像形成可能層を組立て、該画像形成可能層が化学放射線への曝露時に不透 明度の変化を受け得;そして 該画像形成可能層の選択部分を化学放射線に曝露して、それにより、該フィル ター要素間の間隙と配列した画像形成可能層部分を、本質的に不透明なまま残す が、該フィルター要素それ自体と配列した該画像形成可能層部分は、本質的に透 明なままとし、それにより、該グリッドを形成することを特徴とする、方法。
