Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.基板32に複数のコーティング層をコーティングする方法であって、 コーティングステーションを通る経路に沿って基板32を移動するステップと ; 少なくとも一つの第一コーティング液34及び第二コーティング液36を測定 するステップであって、第一コーティング液の配合物が第二コーティング液の配 合物と異なるステップと; 少なくとも一つの第一コーティング液及び第二コーティング液から成る複合層 48を形成するステップと; 基板32を、流れる複合層48と接触させて、第一コーティング液34を基板 32と第二コーティング液36の間に挿入し、過剰な第二コーティング層を基板 上に塗布するステップと; ガスナイフ54からのガス52で複合層をドクタリングして、第二コーティン グ層36の一部を基板から除去し、多層複合コーティングをガスナイフのウェブ 下流側の基板上に生成し、第一コーティング液及び第二コーティング液の複数の 別個の重なり合った層を残すステップと; を含む方法。 2.ガスナイフの位置、ガスの流量及びガスの速度のどれかを変更することに より、ガスナイフ54からのガス52を調節して、第二コーティング液36だけ を除去し、基板32に実質上接触する第一コーティング液34を残すステップを 更に含む請求項1記載の方法。 3.所定の基板速度において基板32上に所望の乾燥コーティング重量を達成 する第一の流量にて第一コーティング液34を流し; 第一コーティング液の流量とは異なり、第一の流量が第一液だけの安定した連続 落下カーテンを生成できない場合にも、第一液及び第二液の複合層48の安定し た連続落下カーテンを生成する第二の流量にて第二コーティング液36を流すス テップを更に含む請求項1及び2記載の方法。 4.形成ステップが、別個の重なり合った層の複数の第一コーティング液34 、及び第二コーティング液36から成る複合層48を形成することから成る請求 項1、2、及び3記載の方法。 5.計量ステップが、互いに混和性である第一コーティング液及び第二コーテ ィング液34、36を計量することから成る請求項1記載の方法。 6.計量ステップが、液体層が基板上に塗布された後、及びドクタリングステ ップの後、第一液層の表面を覆う連続フィルムとして第二液の一部が残る液状特 性を有する第一コーティング液及び第二コーティング液34、36を計量するこ とから成る請求項1記載の方法。 7.計量ステップが、互いに混和性である第一コーティング液及び第二コーテ ィング液34、36を計量することから成る請求項6記載の方法。 8.形成ステップが、ラテックスから成る第一コーティング液34、及び水か ら成る混和性の第二コーティング液36の複合層48を形成することから成る請 求項5記載の方法。 9.形成ステップが、第一ラテックスから成る少なくとも一つの第一コーティ ング液34、及び配合物及び固体の割合のどちらかが第一ラテックスと異なる第 二ラテックスから成る混和性の第二コーティング液36の複合層48を形成する ことから成る請求項5記載の方法。 10.第一コーティング液34及び第二コーティング液36の少なくともどち らかが混和性である請求項7記載の方法。 11.移動ステップが、基板32を1000 m/min の速度でコーティングス テーションに通して移動させることから成る請求項1記載の方法。 12.移動面と、流れる複合層48とを接触させて、該移動面と第一コーティ ング液34との間に第二コーティング液を挿入するステップと; コーティング液の一部を移動面から基板32に移動させて、基板と第二コーテ ィング液36との間に第一コーティング液34を挿入し、過剰な第二コーティン グ層を基板32上に塗布するステップと; を更に含む請求項1記載の方法。 13.基板に複数のコーティング層をコーティングするための装置であって、 第一コーティング液34及び第二コーティング液36を結合し、向い合わせに 互いに接触している液体の、計量された複数の流れる層を生成して、複合層48 を形成する手段であって、第一コーティング液の配合物が第二コーティング液の 配合物と異なる手段と; 液体を結合するための手段から間隔を置いた位置に基板を移動して、複合層4 8が、コーティングの幅にわたって基板に対して連続して流れる液体ブリッジを 形成するようにし、基板上にコーティング層を付着させて、基板32と第二コー ティング液36との間に第一コーティング液34を挿入し、過剰な第二コーティ ング層を基板上に塗布するための手段と; 複合層48をガス52を使ってドクタリングして、第二コーティング層の一部 を基板から除去し、多層複合コーティングをガスナイ フのウェブ下流側の基板上に生成して、第一コーティング液及び第二コーティン グ液の複数の別個の重なり合った層から成るコーティングを残すためのガスナイ フ54と; を含む装置。 14.第二コーティング液だけを除去し、基板に実質上接触する第一コーティ ング液を残すようにガスナイフ54を調節するための手段を更に含む請求項13 記載の装置。 15.液体を結合する手段が、 所定の基板速度において基板32上に所望の乾燥コーティング重量を達成する 第一の流量にて第一コーティング液34を流すための手段と; 第一コーティング液の流量と異なり、第一の流量が第一コーティング液だけの 安定した連続落下カーテンを生成できない場合にも、第一コーティング液及び第 二コーティング液の複合層48の安定した連続落下カーテンを生成する第二の流 量にて第二コーティング液36を流すための手段と; を含む請求項13記載の装置。 16.液体を結合するための手段が、前面38、40、前面と連通するスロッ ト42、44、及びリップ46を有するダイから成り、 第一コーティング液及び第二コーティング液34、36が該スロットから該前 面上に流出して、該前面に沿って該リップまで流れ、 付着手段が、該前面に沿って流れる際に第一コーティング液及び第二コーティ ング液の他方を第一コーティング液及び第二コーティング液のどちらかの上に付 着させて、複合層48が該ダイ前面に沿って該ダイリップまで移動される請求項 13記載の装置。
