Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.鉛を含有しない複合材弾丸において、タングステン、炭化タングステン及 びフェロタングステンから本質的に成る群から選ばれる一種以上の高密度成分と 、スズ、亜鉛、アルミニウム、鉄、銅及びビスマスから本質的に成る群から選ば れる第二成分との圧縮成形済み複合品を特徴とする、上記弾丸。 2.鉛を含有しない複合材弾丸において、タングステン、炭化タングステン、 フェロタングステン及びカルバロイから本質的に成る群から選ばれる一種以上の 成分と、熱硬化性ポリマー及び熱可塑性ポリマーから本質的に成る群から選ばれ る第二成分とを有する複合品を特徴とする、上記弾丸。 3.第二成分がフェノール樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、ジアリルフタレート、ポリア クリレート、ポリスチレン、ポリエチレン及びポリウレタンから本質的に成る群 から選ばれる、請求項2に記載の弾丸。 4.鉛を含有しない弾丸を製造する方法において、 a)一種以上の高密度金属の粉末と、第二の高密度でない金属のマトリックス 粉末とを混合し、あらゆる小孔を補整すべく前記高密度粉末の重量%を増やす工 程(但し、前記第一高密度粉末は、タングステン、炭化タングステン及びフェロ タングステンから本質的に成る群から選び、かつ前記第二粉末は、スズ、亜鉛、 アルミニウム、鉄、銅及びビスマスから本質的に成る群から選ぶ。)と、 b)前記混合済み粉末を圧縮成形してほぼ最終的な形状にする工程と、 c)前記形状の前記粉末を焼結する工程と から成ることを特徴とする、上記方法。 5.多量の混合済み粉末を弾丸被筒の中に入れ、焼結し、次いで、焼結済みコ アを被筒の中に挿入する更なる工程を特徴とする、請求項4に記載の方法。 6.その後に起きる銃身のエロージョンを防止すべく、焼結済み粉末形態を少 なくとも0.10mm(0.004インチ)の厚さのプラスチックコーティング で被覆する更なる工程を特徴とする、請求項4に記載の方法。 7.鉛を含有しない複合材弾丸において、タングステン、炭化タングステン及 びフェロタングステンから本質的に成る群から選ばれる一種以上の第一成分と、 プラスチック結合剤と、前記結合剤と同一材料のプラスチックコーティングと、 前記結合剤材料と異なるプラスチックコーティングとの圧縮成形複合品を特徴と する、上記弾丸。 8.鉛を含有しない弾丸を製造する方法において、 a)重い成分としての、タングステン及び鉄の粉末と、マトリックスとしての 、フェニルホルムアルデヒド及びポリメチルメタクリレートから本質的に成る群 から選ばれるポリマー粉末とを混合する工程と、 b)前記の混合済み粉末を、約149°C〜約177°C(300°F〜35 0°F)の範囲内の温度と、約241MPa〜約276MPa(35ksi〜4 0ksi)の範囲内の圧力で、熱圧縮成形して発射体の形状にする工程と を特徴とする、上記方法。 9.鉄粉末とタングステン粉末とを予備混合し、次いで、それらとポリマー粉 末とを混合する、請求項8に記載の方法。 10.鉄粉末は、30重量%以下の、タングステン−鉄の予備混合物を含む、請 求項9に記載の方法。 11.弾丸を、少なくとも0.10mm(0.004インチ)の厚さのプラスチ ックコーティングで被覆する更なる工程を特徴とする、請求項8に記載の方法。 12.ある量の混合済み粉末を金属製弾丸被筒の中に導き、次いで、前記粉末を 圧縮成形する更なる工程を特徴とする、請求項8に記載の方法。 13.圧縮成形済み粉末を、少なくとも0.10mm(0.004インチ)の厚 さの弾丸被筒の中に置く更なる工程を特徴とする、請求項8に記載の方法。 14.タングステン粉末の、全金属成分の百分率が100であり、鉄粉末の百分 率がゼロであり、ポリマー粉末がフェニルホルムアルデヒドである、請求項8に 記載の方法。 15.鉄粉末の百分率がゼロであり、ポリマー粉末がポリメチルメタクリレート である、請求項8に記載の方法。 16.被筒とは異なる弾丸の部分の密度が、必要なら、1cm3当り約9gより も大きい(即ち、鉛の密度の約80%よりも大きい。)、請求項8に記載の方法 。 17.粉末を、9.65MPa(1400psi)の圧縮強度と、少なくとも0 . 062ジュール/cm3(9インチ・ポンド/in3)の、圧縮試験でのエネルギ ー吸収と、少なくとも約31MPa(4500psi)の圧縮降伏強度とを達成 するのに十分な程度まで圧縮成形する、請求項8に記載の方法。
