Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.導電性材料の層と、 複数の分布した局部的電子放出サイトを含む放出表面をもち、前記導電性材料 全体にわたり付着された低い有効仕事関数の材料の層、を含んで成る陰極。 2.前記電子放出サイトが、互いに不連続なものである電気特性を有する、請求 の範囲第1項に記載の陰極。 3.前記放出表面が比較的平坦である、請求の範囲第1項に記載の陰極。 4.前記電子放出サイトが少なくとも2つの異なる電子親和力を有する、請求の 範囲第1項に記載の陰極。 5.前記各電子放出サイトが直径1ミクロン未満である、請求の範囲第1項に記 載の陰極。 6.前記低い有効仕事関数の材料のいくつかが非晶質ダイヤモンドである、請求 の範囲第1項に記載の陰極。 7.前記電子放出サイトがそれぞれドーパント原子を内含している請求の範囲第 1項に記載の陰極。 8.前記ドーパント原子が炭素である、請求の範囲第7項に記載の陰極。 9.前記電子放出サイトが、それぞれ複数の異なるボンディング構造を有する、 請求の範囲第1項に記載の陰極。 10.前記ボンディング構造の1つがSP3である、請求の範囲第9項に記載の陰 極。 11.前記電子放出サイトがそれぞれ結晶質構造の不連続性を含んでいる、請求の 範囲第1項に記載の陰極。 12.前記不連続性が点不連続性である、請求の範囲第11項に記載の陰極。 13.前記不連続性が線不連続性である、請求の範囲第11項に記載の陰極。 14.前記不連続性が転位である、請求の範囲第11項に記載の陰極。 15.基板と、 導電性材料の層と、 複数の微結晶電子放出サイトを含み、前記導電性材料全体にわたり付着された 非晶質ダイヤモンド・フイルム層と、 を含む、ダイヤモンド・フイルム冷陰極。 16.前記電子放出サイトのうち少なくともいくつかの隣接した電子放出サイトが 不連続な電気特性を有する、請求の範囲第15項に記載の陰極。 17.前記放出表面が比較的平坦である、請求の範囲第15項に記載の陰極。 18.前記各電子放出サイトが、直径1ミクロン未満である、請求の範囲第15項 に記載の陰極。 19.前記電子放出サイトがドーパント原子を含んでいる、請求の範囲第15項に 記載の陰極。 20.前記ドーパント原子が炭素である、請求の範囲第19項に記載の陰極。 21.前記電子放出サイトがそれぞれ少なくとも2つの異なるボンディング構造を 有している、請求の範囲第15項に記載の陰極。 22.前記ボンディング構造の1つがSP3である、請求の範囲第21項に記載の 陰極。 23.前記電子放出サイトのそれぞれが少なくとも2つの異なるボンディング順序 を有する、請求の範囲第15項に記載の陰極。 24.前記電子放出サイトが炭素以外のドーパントを含んでいる、請求の範囲第1 5項に記載の陰極。 25.前記電子放出サイトが結晶質構造の欠陥を含んでいる、請求の範囲第15項 に記載の陰極。 26.前記欠陥が点欠陥である、請求の範囲第25項に記載の陰極。 27.前記欠陥が線欠陥である、請求の範囲第25項に記載の陰極。 28.前記欠陥が転位である、請求の範囲第25項に記載の陰極。 29.導電性材料の層を通して電流を流れさせる段階と、 不連続な電気特性を有する複数の放出サイトを含み、前記導電性材料全体にわ たり付着された非晶質ダイヤモンド・フイルム層を通して、前記電流を差し向け る段階と、 を包含する、陰極を動作させる方法。 30.複数の下位領域をそれぞれ有する複数の電子放出サイトを含み、導電性フィ ラメント全体にわたり付着された非晶質ダイヤモンド・フイルム層と、 前記電子放出サイトによって放出された電子の受取りに応答して光を放射する 、前記フィラメントと前記非晶質ダイヤモンド・フイルムとをとり囲んだ陽極と 、 を包含する蛍光光源。
