Abstract

ニウム箔、ウレタン被覆またはフィルム、或いは天幕ま
たはテントフライのような外部の織物バリヤであっても
よい。
Description
虫性であるように処理された被覆織物(coated
fabric)に関する。本発明によれば防虫性の有効
期間は、このように処理された織物を紫外線にさらされ
ないように保護する1つまたはそれ以上のバリヤを使用
することによって長引かされる。
8,061号には、テントの内面上の難燃性および防水
性被覆の中に組み入れられたペルメトリン(perme
thrin)は6カ月もの期間にわたって虫に対する防
護を提供することが明示されている。被覆内の可塑剤
は、制御された放出状態で被覆織物外面へのペルメトリ
ンの移動性を与える。
で不活性の非防虫性生成物に分解しやすいので、テント
または他の織物の外面へのペルメトリンの移行を最小に
することが重要である。米国特許出願第678,061
においては、織物基材それ自体が、酸素および紫外線に
さらされる織物外面へ織物内面上のペルメトリンが移行
することに対するバリヤとして機能するものと認識され
ている。
78,061号に説明されているように、ペルメトリン
は合成ピレスロイド(pyrethroid)であり、
虫に対して防虫作用並びにノックダウンおよび殺虫作用
を発揮する。自然に生ずる化合物およびそれらの合成し
て作られる類似物を含むピレスロイドは、家蝿、蚊、ゴ
キブリその他の様々な害虫を効果的に防ぐことができ
る。
有害でなく、有害な残留物も残さない。ペルメトリンは
環境的に安全であり、被覆織物の所望特性に悪影響を及
ぼさずに防水化学薬品および難燃化学薬品を含有する被
覆成分と相容性であることが見出されている。
ず、比較的短時間しか殺虫剤としての効力がない理由で
ペルメトリンは一般に制限された利用しかされていな
い。これはペルメトリンが酸素および紫外線の存在下で
効力のない非殺虫性生成物に分解してしまうからであ
る。この分解の速度はペルメトリンの置かれた環境に左
右され、分解は典型的には数時間から数日もしくは数週
間にわたって起こる。ペルメトリンの不安定さが殺虫剤
としての有用さを制限している。
これまでの試みは、カプセル化すること並びにピレスロ
イド溶液に酸化防止および光安定紫外線吸収化合物を添
加することを含んでいた。カプセル化は、ピレスロイド
がカプセル内部で、カプセル化されなかったものとほと
んど同じほど早く劣化してしまうので有効ではなかっ
た。ピレスロイド溶液に酸化防止および光安定紫外線吸
収化合物を添加することによっては、劣化軽減における
程々の成功が得られていたに過ぎない。これらの程々の
成功は、除去困難な醜い残留物によって大幅に相殺され
てしまう。

ばバーバー氏に付与された米国特許第4,056,61
0号はマイクロカプセル化した殺虫剤成分を開示してお
り、これにおいてはピレスロイドが多孔質シェル壁を浸
透し、4日間までにわたって虫を防ぐためにピレスロイ
ドの有効レベルをシェル壁の外面上に保持する(従って
当該技術において時間を長引かせることが考えられ
た)。防虫は、カプセル壁を通して放出されるピレスロ
イドと接触する虫を殺すことで達成される。
765,982号は、多数の粗面化されたセルロース繊
維を含む防虫装置を開示しており、この装置においては
カプセル(そのシェルは液体殺虫剤を浸透させる)の中
にマイクロカプセル化された液体殺虫剤成分が前記繊維
の表面に自己粘着して存在している。バーバー氏に付与
された米国特許第4,056,610号に開示されてい
るマイクロカプセル化された防虫剤は、ローニング氏の
発明において使用される好ましい殺虫剤として名前を挙
げられている。
たセルロース繊維は、ウェブ、テープ、シート、パッド
および例えばビルディングやドアの基部に沿って配置さ
れるリボン状テープのような、特定の場所に使用するの
に適したその他各種の比較的平たい形状のものに形成さ
れる。
イクロカプセル化した防虫剤の粘着に良好な場所として
作用しないことを教示している。ローニング氏の殺虫剤
処理され粗面化されたセルロース繊維はテント織物とし
て不適当である。粗面化された繊維の織物は満足なもの
ではなく、防水性でも難燃性でもない。
塑剤によって外面へ移動可能にされたペルメトリンの移
行に対するバリヤを使用することにより、ペルメトリン
および移動化剤で処理された織物の防虫特性を長引かせ
ることである。満足なバリヤの例は、重合体被覆、フィ
ルム、箔、織物および可塑剤移行を防止する表面処理で
ある。
織物の最終的な用途には、足首覆いおよび上着のような
難燃性または防水性であるように処理されていないもの
への使用が含まれる。アルミニウム箔の如きバリヤ材料
が、ペルメトリンとの皮膚接触を防止するために織物の
内面上に用いられる。

ペルメトリン処理側が風雨から隔てられてウェザーオメ
ター内で風雨にさらされた。

する試験においては蚊の急速ノックダウン(1時間以
内)を生じさせるのに不十分であることをデータは示唆
している。

Claims (9)
- 【請求項1】 大気の劣化要素に通常さらされる被覆さ
れた外面と織物基材によって大気の劣化要素から通常遮
蔽される被覆された内面とを有し、前記織物基材の前記
外面および内面上の被覆がそれぞれ重合体バインダー、
難燃化学薬品および防水化学薬品を含有し、前記織物基
材の前記内面上の被覆が防虫剤としてのペルメトリンを
含有している被覆テント織物であって、前記織物基材の
前記被覆された外面の上にはバリヤが設けられており、
このバリヤが前記織物基材を紫外線および酸素から保護
すると共に、前記ペルメトリンを劣化から保護する点に
おいて前記織物基材を補うことを特徴とする被覆テント
織物。 - 【請求項2】 請求項1に記載の被覆テント織物であっ
て、前記バリヤがアクリル樹脂被覆またはフィルムであ
ることを特徴とする被覆テント織物。 - 【請求項3】 請求項1に記載の被覆テント織物であっ
て、前記バリヤがアルミニウム箔であることを特徴とす
る被覆テント織物。 - 【請求項4】 請求項1に記載の被覆テント織物であっ
て、前記バリヤがウレタン被覆またはフィルムであるこ
とを特徴とする被覆テント織物。 - 【請求項5】 請求項1に記載の被覆テント織物であっ
て、前記バリヤがテントフライであることを特徴とする
被覆テント織物。 - 【請求項6】 ペルメトリンおよび重合体バインダーを
含有する衣服用の織物であって、使用において前記織物
を着用した者の皮膚にペルメトリンが移行しないよう
に、着用者の皮膚に接近して位置されるように意図され
ている前記織物の表面を覆うバリヤが在ることを特徴と
する衣服用の織物。 - 【請求項7】 請求項6に記載の織物であって、前記バ
リヤがアルミニウム箔であることを特徴とする織物。 - 【請求項8】 請求項6に記載の織物であって、前記バ
リヤがアクリル樹脂被覆またはフィルムであることを特
