Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 <技術分野> 本発明は記録内容の変更が可能な即ち書き換え
可能な光デイスク媒体に関する。
<従来技術> 従来、記録内容の変更が可能な媒体としては
Te3あるいはTeOxの薄膜が用いられている。こ
れらの材料は、非晶質、結晶相転移を利用し、書
換えを行なうものである。ところがTeはその結
晶化温度が、10〜60℃と低いために、非晶質状態
が安定ではなく、データの保存性が乏しい欠点を
有していた。また、TeOxについては、非晶質相
の安定化を図るためにSn、Geなどの不純物を加
えることにより、結晶化の制御を行ない、実用に
供していた。しかるにTeOxは酸素濃度が1.1〜
1.2と許容される範囲が狭いばかりでなく、さら
に2種類以上の異種元素の結合により製造される
ために極めて製造の再現性に乏しい欠点を有して
いた。
<発明の目的> 本発明は上記従来の問題を解消し、組成マージ
ンが非常に広くかつ安定性のよい光デイスク媒体
を提供することを目的とする。
<発明の構成> 上記目的を達成する本発明の構成は、光学的に
記録、再生、消却の行なわれる媒体であつて、 AuxTe1-x x=10.0〜50.0 at% の組成を有する合金が基板上に薄膜状に形成され
てなることを特徴とする。
また更に上記薄膜が形成されると共に該薄膜上
にTeO2、V2O3、TiO2、SiO2の酸化物もしくは
MgF2、CeF3、AlF3のフツ化物もしくはSi3N4
TiNの窒化物のうちいずれか一種類の薄膜が積
層されてなることを特徴とする。
第1図a,bに本発明に係る光デイスク媒体の
断面構造を示す。図示するように基板1の上面に
記録層2が設けられる。該基板1としては
PMMAなどの熱伝導性の小さい材料の場合その
まま記録層2が形成される。一方Al、ガラスな
ど比較的熱伝導率の高い材料を基板1に用いる場
合には熱損失を少なくするために基板1の上面に
高分子材料等の熱不良導層を設け、その後に記録
層2を積層させる。記録層2としてはAuxTe1-x
合金が用いられる。該合金においては液体状態か
ら徐冷することにより、Au<33.3at%以下では
(Te+AuTe2)混相が形成され、又、Au>33.3at
%では(Au+Au+Te2)混相が形成される。と
ころが第2図に示すようにAu組成10.0〜50.0at%
の範囲で106℃/sec以上の冷却速度により急冷を
行なうと、単純立方格子構造を持つ擬安定相が形
成される。この相を仮りにπ相と名付けると、こ
のπ相は非常に安定性がよく、160℃以上に温度
を上げないと平衡相である混相に変化しない。
ところでレーザ加熱によつて上記記録層を溶融
状態とし自然放冷を行なう場合の冷却速度は1010
℃/sec以上と非常に大きい。従つて上記記録層
にレーザ加熱を与えることによりπ相を形成させ
記録させることが出来る。一方消去は、該π相に
相転移温度以上の温度になるようレーザ照射を行
い混相に転移させることにより記録を消去出来
る。
次に上記AuxTe1-x層の上面に保護層3を設け
ることもできる。保護層3としてはTeO2
V2O3、TiO2、SiO2の酸化物もしくはMgF2
CeF3、AlF3のフツ化物もしくはSi3N4、TiNの
窒化物のうちいずれか一種類の薄膜を積層すると
よい。保護層3の膜厚は500〜2000Å程度でよい。
該保護層3を設けることにより光デイスク媒体の
耐久性を高めることができる。
<実施例> 以下に本発明の実施例を示す。
実施例 1 AuTe合金でAu組成35at%のものを原料とし、
真空蒸着法及びスパツタ法を用いて300Åの膜を
PMMA基板上に形成した。記録は8mWレーザ
出力で、1MHzの基準信号を入力して行ない、
55dBのC/N値を得た。次に4mWの出力で記
録部を走査したところ完全に消去できた。
実施例 2 AuTe合金で、Au組成10〜50at%の範囲の任
意の組成で実施例1と同様の条件で実験を行なつ
たところ、記録、再生、消去が可能であることを
確めた。
実施例 3 実施例1及び2に記した試料上に500〜2000Å
厚のTeO2、V2O3、TiO2、SiO2、MgF2、CeF3
AlF3のそれぞれの膜を形成したところ、10〜13
mWでの記録パワーで情報の記録が行なえ、4〜
6mWのパワーで消去が可能であることを確め
た。
<発明の効果> 以上述べたように本発明になる光デイスク媒体
は組成マージンが非常に広く、かつ安定性のよい
光デイスク媒体であり、8〜13mW出力のレーザ
で書き込みが可能で、かつ4〜6mW出力のレー
ザで消去が可能であつて、高感度な書換可能媒体
として使用できる。

第1図a,bは本発明に係る光デイスク媒体の
断面図、第2図は該光デイスク媒体の記録層に用
いるAuTe合金の組成比と相転移温度との関係を
示すグラフである。 図中、1……基板、2……記録層、3……保護
層。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1 光学的に記録、再生、消却の行なわれる媒体
    であつて、 AuxTe1-x x=10.0〜50.0 at% の組成を有する合金が基板上に薄膜状に形成され
    てなることを特徴とする光デイスク媒体。 2 光学的に記録、再生、消却の行なわれる媒体
    であつて、 AuxTe1-x x=10.0〜50.0 at% の組成を有する合金が基板上に薄膜状に形成され
    ると共に該薄膜上にTeO2、V2O3、TiO2、SiO2
    の酸化物もしくはMgF2、CeF3、AlF3のフツ化
    物もしくはSi3N4、TiNの窒化物のうちいずれか
    一種類の薄膜が積層されてなることを特徴とする
    光デイスク媒体。
