Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 (産業上の利用分野) 本発明は、熱可塑性樹脂製のガス管や水道管等の接合に
用いられる溶着継手に関する。
(従来の技術) 従来、熱可塑性樹脂管を接続するための溶着継手として
は、例えば、特開昭61−62696号公報に記載され
ているようなものが知られている。
この溶着継手は、熱可塑性樹脂により筒状に形成され、
両端部がそれぞれ熱可塑性樹脂管の端部を受ける受口部
となされるとともに、これら受口部の内周部に加熱要素
としての電熱線が埋め込まれたもので、この電熱線の両
端には端子が接続されている。このような継手により熱
可塑性樹脂管を接続するには、この溶着継手の両受口部
内に熱可塑性樹脂管を挿入し、前記端子間に電圧をかけ
て電熱線を発熱させる。そうすると、電熱線によって受
口部の内周部と熱可塑性樹脂管の外周部が溶融し、互い
に溶着する。
(発明が解決しようとする課題) しかしながら、このような従来の溶着継手にあっては、
溶着継手に熱可塑性樹脂管を挿入した際、その芯出しが
適正に行われていないと、受口部の内周面と熱可塑性樹
脂管の外周面との間のクリアランスが場所によって異な
り、このため、樹脂の溶融状態が不均一となって溶着不
良箇所が生じたリ、また、熱可塑性樹脂管の軸芯に対し
て溶着継手の軸芯が傾いてしまう等、不適切な状態で接
合が行われてしまうといった問題があった。
本発明は、上記従来のIJi題を解消すべくなされたも
ので、受口部内に熱可塑性樹脂管を挿入する際に同時に
芯出しが行える溶着継手を擢供することを目的とするも
のである。
(課題を解決するための手段) 上記目的を達成するため、本発明に係る溶着継手は、熱
可塑性樹脂により筒状に形成され、両端部がそれぞれ熱
可塑性樹脂管の端部を受ける受口部となされるとともに
、これら受口部の内周部に加熱要素が埋め込まれた溶着
継手において、前記両受口部の境界部分に、前記各熱可
塑性樹脂管の開口端部内周面と摺接する環状の芯出し部
が、その軸芯が該継手の軸芯と一致するように配設され
たものである。
(作用) 本発明の溶着継手の受口部に熱可塑性樹脂管を挿入して
いくと、両受口部の境界部分に達する直前で芯出し部が
管内に入り込み、管の開口端部内周面と芯出し部とが摺
接する。ここで、芯出し部は、その軸芯が継手の軸芯と
一致するように設けられでいるから、管は芯出し部によ
って自然に適正な姿勢となる位置に案内され、これによ
って管の芯出しが行われる。
上述のようにして溶着継手と熱可塑性樹脂管とが芯出し
された状態となると、受口部の内周面と熱可塑性樹脂管
の外周面との間のクリアランスが一定となるので、この
後、通電により加熱要素を発熱させれば、受口部の内周
部と熱可塑性樹脂管の外周部とが均一に溶融し、互いに
良好な状態で溶着される。
(実施例) 以下、本発明の一実施例を、図面を参照して説明する。
第1図は本発明に係る溶着継手を示す断面図、第2図は
同正面図である。
本発明に係る溶着継手1は、例えばポリエチレンなどの
熱可塑性樹脂を素材として射出成形により筒状に形成さ
れたものである。
この溶着継手10両端部は、それぞれ熱可塑性樹脂管P
の端部を受ける受口部2.3となされており、これら受
口部2.3の内周部には加熱要素4が埋め込まれている
また、各受口部2.3の外周面には、ボス6゜6がそれ
ぞれ突設されており、これらポス6.6の内部に、前記
加熱要素4と接続される端子7゜7が配設されている。
前記受口部2.3の境界部分には、各熱可塑性樹脂管P
の開口端部内周面と摺接する環状の芯出し部5が、その
軸芯が該継手1の軸芯と一致するように配設されている
この芯出し部5は、熱可塑性樹脂管Pを所定位置で挿入
規制するための衝合部51と、衝合部51の内周側両端
から継手1の軸芯に沿ってそれぞれ延出された摺接部5
2,52とから構成され、継手1と一体的に成形されて
いる。このようになる芯出し部5の摺接部52,52の
外径D1.(第2図参照)は、熱可塑性樹脂管Pの内径
D2(第1図参照)と略同じ寸法とされており、具体的
にはその差(D2−D]、)が約0,5鶴以下となるよ
うにするのが好ましい。
なお、摺接部52,52は、図示例では周方向に4箇所
にわたって90’間隔で設けられているが、これに限ら
ず、周方向に3箇所にわたって120゜間隔で設けられ
ていてもよく、あるいは5箇所以上もしくは全周にわた
って連続するように設けられていてもよい。
また、摺接部52は、図示例ではその内面(軸芯側の面
)と外面(管Pと接する面)とが平行になされているが
、例えば、第3図に示すように、外面がテーバ面に形成
されていてもよい。このように摺接部52の外面がテー
バ面に形成されていると、管P内に摺接部52,52を
スムーズに入り込ませることができるとともに、管Pの
成形上の寸法誤差と芯出し部5における成形上の寸法誤
差とを吸収することができ、そのような寸法誤差に起因
する両者間の不整合を防ぐことができる。
さらに、摺接部52は図示例のような短冊状に限らず、
図示はしないが円板状であってもよい。
また、芯出し部5は、必ずしも継手】と一体的に設けら
れている必要はなく、継手1とは別体に形成され、継手
1の内部に挿入されるようになされたものであってもよ
い。第4図はその一例を示す正面図、第5図は第4図に
おけるV−V線断面図である。この例の芯出し部5は、
摺接部52゜52が全周にわたって連続して設けられて
おり、その外周面の幅方向中央部に複数個(図では8個
)の脚部53・・・が突設されたものである。これら脚
部53・・・の長さは、その端面が受口部2.3の境界
部分の内周面と接するような寸法とされる。また、該境
界部分に管の挿入長さを規制するための音溝接部が突設
されている場合には、上記端面が該音溝接部の内周面と
接するような寸法とされる。
前記加熱要素4としては、例えば、多数の細い長尺状電
熱線(炭素繊維、ニクロム線等)が束ねられた加熱抵抗
線であってもよいし、また、長さが10〜200 +n
のニクロム線や炭素繊維等の電熱性繊維がシー ト状に
抄造されたものであってもよい。このようになる加熱要
素(1木の例えばニクロム線等の電熱線)4は、継手1
の軸芯を中心として螺旋状に埋設されており、前記芯出
し部5を境として、一方の熱可塑性樹脂管との溶着用と
なる第1群41と、他方の熱可塑性樹脂管との溶着用と
なる第2群42とに分けて配設されている。
次に、上記溶着継手1による熱可塑性樹脂管Pの接合手
順について説明する。
まず、本発明の溶着継手1の受口部2.3に熱可塑性樹
脂管P、Pをそれぞれ挿入する。すると、管P、Pが両
受口部2.3の境界部分に達する直前で芯出し部5の摺
接部52.52が管P、  P内にそれぞれ入り込み、
管P、Pの開口端部内周面と芯出し部の摺接部52,5

、Pは芯出し部5によって自然に適正な姿勢となる位置
に案内され、これによって管P、Pの芯出しが行われる
。また、熱可塑性樹脂管Pが、例えばポリエチレン管の
場合、溶着に先立って管外周面の酸化被膜を切削除去す
るだめのスクレーパ処理が施され、管の外周面形状が第
6図に示す状態から第7図に示すような歪んだ形状にな
ってしまうが、そのような場合でも、上記芯出しは芯出
し部5の摺接部52,52と管Pの開口端部内周面との
摺接によって行われるため、芯出しが上記したような形
状の変化に左右されることはない。
上述のようにして溶着継手1と熱可塑性樹脂管P、Pと
が芯出しされた状態に位置決め固定されると、受口部2
.3の内周面と熱可塑性樹脂管の外周面との間のクリア
ランスが一定となるので、この後、端子7,7に電源装
置(図示せず)のコネクタを接続して通電を行い、加熱
要素4を発熱させれば、受口部2,3の内周部と熱可塑
性樹脂管P、Pの外周部とが均一に溶融し、互いに良好
な状態で溶着される。
(発明の効果) 以」二説明したように、本発明の溶着継手は、受口部の
境界部分に芯出し部が配設されているので、受口部内に
熱可塑性樹脂管を挿入するだけで管の芯出しを行うこと
ができる。したがって、従来のような位置決め用の治具
を用いるといった面倒な手間を省くことができるととも
に、管の外周面と受口部の内周面との間に一定のクリア
ランスを確保して適正な状態で溶着することができると
いった効果を奏する。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1)熱可塑性樹脂により筒状に形成され、両端部がそれ
    ぞれ熱可塑性樹脂管の端部を受ける受口部となされると
    ともに、これら受口部の内周部に加熱要素が埋め込まれ
    た溶着継手において、 前記両受口部の境界部分に、前記各熱可塑 性樹脂管の開口端部内周面と摺接する環状の芯出し部が
    、その軸芯が該継手の軸芯と一致するように配設された
    ことを特徴とする溶着継手。
