Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は、衛生のため身につける当て具に関
するものである。一般に、そのような当て具に
は、下着、水着、アスレチツクサポータ等多くの
用途を有するものが含まれるが、この発明に係る
分野は主として単一の用途をもつものであつて、
失禁パツド、使い捨ておむつなどの使い捨て製品
である。
このような使い捨て製品は、経済上の理由から
適合性、快適性、洩れなどの性能上の特性と、使
い捨てにふさわしいコストで得られる能力との間
に妥協がなされているものが多い。一般に、これ
らの製品は吸収材料を中に入れかつ皮膚接触面に
なる表面材料と防水性裏張りとの間に矩形の吸収
材料をサンドイツチしたものが多い。特に赤ちや
んや小児用の使い捨ておむつの場合には、よちよ
ち歩きの年代を通じ成長に合わせて当て具を大き
なサイズのものにしなければならない。このた
め、利用できるサイズを選択しなければならない
消費者は支出をよぎなくされ不便である。以上の
ことから、この発明はそのような製品の適合性、
快適性、および性能を改善することを目的として
いる。
前述した一般な形式の当て具については、広く
知られており、特に使い捨ておむつや失禁用当て
具は特許文献その他にいろいろ記載されている。
そのような特許文献や刊行物のなかには、伸縮性
の帯状部材を組み込んだものを含み、さまざまな
吊り留め式の取付具を有する形式の衛生用当て具
に関するものがある。たとえば、米国特許第
3800796号には半伸縮性ストラツプフアスナを有
する使い捨ておむつが記載されている。米国特許
第1988140号には一部分が伸縮性である腰バンド
を有し、より耐久性のある当て具が記載されてい
る。米国特許第2408723号にも同様な当て具が記
載されている。米国特許第3452753号には衣具を
所定の位置に保持する複数組の伸縮性ストラツプ
をもつ失禁用当て具が記載されている。米国特許
第4182334号には、使用者のももの部分を取り囲
むように置かれる伸縮性ストラツプを含む吊り留
め式の使い捨ておむつまたは失禁パツドの実施例
が記載されている。
市販されているそのような当て具も同様である
が、上記した形式の当て具には、次にあげる欠点
が一つや二つある、すなわち、伸縮自在の部分が
使用者を締めつけたり、刺激を与えるため不快で
あること、身体のサイズで定つており、さまざま
な使用者に適合できないこと、製作費が高いこ
と、および両親や失禁の世話をする人もしくはそ
の失禁者が当て具を開いて漏れを調べたり、風呂
を使うとき当て具を脱がせ再び留めるとき、当て
具の留めが簡単にできないこと、などである。
この発明は、従来の構造のもつ諸欠点のほとん
どを克服した吸収パツドと吊り留め具との組合せ
を提供するものである。この発明の組合せの場
合、吸収パツドは全体的に矩形の形をした吸収材
料である。吸収パツドに耐久性をもたせようとす
る場合は織綿布、もしくは不織綿布その他の布状
材料にすることができる。しかしながら、ほとん
どの場合は、片面に毛羽重畳ワツデイング等の吸
収シートが付いた防水性裏張りを有し、不織ポリ
プロプレンやカーデイング処理をしたポリエステ
ルなどの不織軽量材料にすることができる表面シ
ートにはさまれた使い捨て吸収材料を含んでいる
ものと考えられる。全体的に矩形の形状をしてい
るが適合性と快適性を良くするために、股下の区
域で吸収パツドの一部を折り曲げることができ
る。
この発明に従つて、吸収パツドと協同してすぐ
れた成果を達成する上で大いに関係のある寸法と
構造をもつ伸縮性帯状部材が２本付いている。一
般に、伸縮性帯状部材はそれぞれ長さが２〜20イ
ンチ（約5.08〜50.8cm）、幅が約1/2〜５インチ
（約1.27〜12.7cm）である。伸縮性帯状部材は、
それ自体がよじれ、使用者に不快感を与える締め
付けを起すことの少ない構造をしていることが重
要である。この伸縮構造はこの発明の成果を達成
する上で重要である。伸縮構造は柔軟で、すり減
りにくく、比較的小さな力（応力）、好ましくは
60ポンド（約27.215Kg）に対して少なくとも200
％の高い伸び率（ひずみ）を有していなければな
らない。これは、快適性を良くする上で、また皮
膚を傷つけたりあるいは血行を妨げないためにも
必要である。高い伸び率によつて、さまざまなサ
イズの身体に適合する能力が向上する。ある好ま
しい沙料は37.6ポンド（約17.055Kg）の力を加え
たとき335％の伸び率を示した。また、伸縮構造
は生体に刺激を与えるものであつてはならず、ま
た反復使用に耐えかつ洗濯可能なことが好まし
い。そのような構造の実例として、Shelby
Elastic Ｋ−78として販売されているナイロン毛
羽裏張り付きのポリエステルとゴムの混織物があ
る。
組合せたとき、パツドと帯状部材は、使用中に
当て具を所定の場所に保持するため上向きの力を
例外的に生じさせるが、不快感はほとんどない。
これは、伸縮性帯状部材を使用者の尻に向つてか
つ前方位置から見たとき水平より25゜から45゜の範
囲の角度で置くことによつて得られる。衣具は幅
が６〜22インチ（約15.24〜55.88cm）の範囲にあ
り、長さが10〜34インチ（約25.4〜86.36cm）の
範囲にあるものが好ましい。また、吸収パツドは
望ましい帯状部材の向きが得られるように複数の
取付け位置を有することが好ましい。帯状部材に
ついては、ボタン、スナツプ、フツクなどの各種
の留め具を使用することができる。
以上により、この発明に係る吊り留め式当て具
は、きわめて良好な適合性および保有性を持つ一
方、従来のように、大きく、かさ張りかつコスト
高になる形態にする必要がなくなつた。さらに、
この発明の構造は、きわめて広範囲のサイズに適
合し、また当て具の存在が目立たないので、特に
成人の使用者の場合きまりの悪い思いをすること
がないであろう。最後に、この吊り留め式当て具
は繰返し留めることが容易であるから、汚れを調
べるとき、取り換えるときあるいは風呂を使用す
るときに当て具をはずす必要がある家庭その他失
禁を扱う施設で看護をする際、特に利点がある。
同様に、この発明に係る赤ちやんのおむつについ
ても利点がある。
以下、好ましい実施例によつて発明を説明する
が、発明をこれらの実施例に限定するつもりのな
いことは理解できよう。逆に、特許請求の範囲に
記載された発明の精神と範囲に含めることができ
るすべての変更、修正、および均等物を包含する
ことを意図するものである。
この発明の係る吊り留め式当て具が使い捨て失
禁パッドの形で示されている第１図から説明す
る。図示のように、吸収パツド１０は防水性裏張
り１２、吸収層１４、および表面材料１６を有し
ている。裏張り１６は使い捨ておむつや失禁パツ
ド用の裏張りとして普通に使用されているさまざ
まな種類のプラスチツク材料のどれでもよいが、
つや消しエンボス処理を行なつた3/4ミル（約
0.0019cm）のポリプロピレンのマツトが好まし
い。そのような材料はPPLT、Code200の表示
Edison Plastics社から、あるいは＃SN278、
Code147の表示でClopay社から販売されている。
他の例としては、ポリエチレン、ポリエチルメタ
クリレート、エチレン−ビニルアセテート、など
がある。吸収材料は排せつ液を所定量吸収可能な
各種材料のどれかでよい。例としては、毛羽重畳
セルローズワツデイングや、その他の複合物たと
えば米国特許第4100324号に記載されている木材
パルプとポリプロピレンの混合物がある。これら
はどれも「超吸収性」材料とよばれる新製品のひ
とつまたはそれ以上と組み合わせて使用すること
ができる。また、表面材料は不織ポリプロピレ
ン、ポリエステルレイヨンその他の材料をカーデ
ング処理し結合したウエブ、およびニードル処理
したあるいは湿式製造の不織材料などの不織物を
含むさまざまの材料から作ることができる。
表面材料は、濡れたときでも吸収材料を保持す
る十分な強さを有する一方、比較的小さい坪量、
たとえば約0.2〜0.8オンス／yd2（約0.00678〜
0.0271Kg／m2）の範囲のものであることが好まし
い。好ましい実施例の場合は、表面材料は坪量が
約0.4オンス／yd2（約0.01356Kg／m2）の不織ポリ
プロピレンであつて、膜面が使用社の皮膚に接触
することがないようにパツド全体と裏張りを包ん
でいる。
図示のように、吸収パツド１０は帯状部材１８
を含む吊り留め具とともに使用するようになつて
いる。これらの帯状部材は、幅が1/2〜５インチ
（約1.27〜12.7cm）であることが好ましく、もつ
とも好ましい幅は3/4〜２インチ（約1.095〜5.08
cm）であり、また長さは２〜20インチ（約5.08〜
50.8cm）で、もつとも好ましい長さは使用対象に
もよるが５−11インチ（約12.7〜27.94cm）であ
る。帯状部材は、先に述べたように小さい力（60
ポンド（約27.125Kg）を越えないことが好まし
い）に対し高い伸び率（少なくとも200％あるこ
とが好ましい）を有する柔軟で、すり減りにく
く、刺激性のない伸縮性材料から作られている。
帯状部材１８と吸収パツド１０とは、留め具２
０，２２（この場合は、帯状部材の側の留め部材
としてのボタンとパツド１０の側にある取付部と
してのボタン穴である。）を使用して結合される。
第２図以下のように、スナツプ、フツク、フツク
とループ、テープなどを含め他の留め具も同様に
使用することができる。とは言つても、使用され
る留め具は再使用が可能で、かつ反復して留める
能力を付与できるものが好ましい。この理由か
ら、ボタン、スナツプ、およびフツクが好まし
い。保形性を良くするため、一条のエンボス処理
２３を施して、層１２，１４、および１６を接合
することができる。熱可塑性材料を使用する場合
には、より強い接合にするため、同時に加熱して
もよい。
次に、この発明に従つて製作した吊り留め式当
て具の別の実施例が図示されている第２図につい
て説明する。この当て具も、同様に裏張り２６付
きの吸収パツド２４、吸収手段２８、および表面
シート３０を有している。この実施例の場合は、
またの区域にギヤザー部分３２が設けられてお
り、また小児の興味を引くため裏張り２６に装飾
が施されている。ストラツプ３４は、この場合に
は若干小さ目の寸法で、矢じり形硬端部３６，３
８からなる異なる留め具を有している。特に赤ち
やんのおむつに関しては、この留め具であれば１
つのサイズの吸収パツド２４でもつて、さまざま
な大きさの小児に適合させることができる。もう
１つの重要な利点は、夜尿症あるいはたれ流しの
症状をもつ大きな子供についてもおむつを使用さ
せることができることである。
第３図はさらに別の構造をもつ実施例を示す。
この実施例の場合は、帯状部材の調節留めができ
るように数個の留め穴４２が吸収パツド４０の縦
中央線上に位置する股下の部分に向かつて列状に
配置されている。これにより使用の際に融通がき
くので、バツドを身体に好ましく適合させること
ができる。
第４図は使用中の当て具を示す。図より、身体
に適合している様子や、帯状部材が立位置におい
て水平に対し約25゜〜45゜の範囲で角度Ｘで保持さ
れ、この結果生じる上向きの力がパツドを身体に
ぴつたり適合させその位置に保持するように作用
することがわかる。吊り留め式当て具の有するこ
の性質のため、パツドは自分で中央位置を占める
ようになり、パツドの付け方の如何によらず、使
用者の中央位置にくる傾向をとる。これは、両側
にある伸縮性帯状部材の長さが等しく、等しい力
をパツドの前縁と後縁に作用させるからである。
第５図と第６図は別の留め具と帯状部材を示
す。第５Ａ図および第５Ｂ図の場合は、帯状部材
４６にピン４８で取り付けられた留め具４４がパ
ツドの隅５０自体をつかむことができ、パツドに
穴をあける必要がない。この場合には、丈夫な取
付けになるよう皮膜５１を施して隅５０を補強し
てもよい。第６Ａ図および第６Ｂ図の別の実施例
の場合は、伸縮性帯状部材５４にとがつた留め具
５２が取り付けられていて、これが設けられてい
る穴５６にはめ込まれて、取外しにくいようにな
つている。両実施例において用いた留め具は、一
般に“リビングヒンジ”あるいは“一体蝶番”と
よばれている形式のものであり、留め具の一部を
折り曲げて、留め具自体に固定できるようになつ
たものである。これらは、ポリエステル、ポリプ
ロピレン、ポリエチレンなどのプラスチツクから
作られる。
この発明の好ましい実施例では、吸収パツドは
米国特許第4100324号に従つて作られるセルロー
ズ70％とポリプロピレン繊維30％の混合物から作
つた坪量160ｇ／yd2（約191.3584ｇ／m2）、幅８イ
ンチ（約20.32cm）、長さ23インチ（約58.42cm）
の吸収ウエブを幅10インチ（約25.4cm）、長さ23
インチ（約58.42cm）の3/4ミル（約0.0019cm）ポ
リエチレン膜から成る裏張りの上に置いて作られ
ている。膜はウエブの一方の面を完全に被覆し、
他の面のまわりにもその中央部分を残して等しく
広がるように、ウエブの周囲を包んでいる。この
結合物は、坪量0.4oz／yd2（約0.001356Kg／m2）、
幅18インチ（約45.72cm）、長さ23インチ（約
58.42cm）の、ウエブの上に重ねて置かれた不織
ポリプロピレンで完全に包まれている。重複部分
は熱溶融接着剤が塗られたポリエステル・テープ
でその長手方向に沿つて接合されている。またの
区域には、熱溶融接着剤を用いてタツクが作られ
ている。また、各隅の端から１インチ（約2.54
cm）および縁から１インチ（約2.54cm）のところ
を切つて、割れ目が作られている。両端に7/8イ
ンチ（約2.2225cm）のボタンが付いている長さ８
1/2インチ（約21.59cm）の伸縮性帯状部材は、
Shelby Ｋ−78から作られており、これを付ける
と第１図に示す吊り留め式当て具が完成する。
この発明に係る吊り留め式当て具を使用すれば
経済的である。それは帯状部材を多くの用途に使
用することができるからである。したがつて、帯
状部材は単独でも販売することができるし、また
多くの吸収衣具を入れた箱の中に１セツトとして
も提供することができる。同様に、吸収シートも
経済的に製作することができ、使い捨てにふさわ
しい値段で販売することができる。この発明によ
つて得られるすぐれた適合性と快適性により、そ
の使い易さは最高であるとともに、大きな保有力
が得られている。さらに、反復して留めることが
できることおよび使用できる身体のサイズの範囲
が広いことの利点も、この発明の特徴に加えられ
る。
以上により、この発明に従つて、先に述べた目
的、ねらい、および利点を完全に満す改良された
吊り留め式当て具が提供されたことは明らかであ
る。特定の実施例について発明を説明してきた
が、前述の説明に照して当該技術分野の専門家に
とつて、多くの変更、修正、および均等物を容易
に思い浮ぶことは明らかである。したがつて、特
許請求の範囲の広義の範囲と精神に含まれるその
ようなすべての変更、修正、および均等物を包含
することを意図するものである。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 １ 主として成人の失禁用に用いる吊り留め式当
    て具であつて、 防水性の裏張り、表面材料およびこれらの間に
    挟まれた吸収材料を備えた吸収パツドと、この吸
    収パツドに対して、着脱可能に各端が取付けられ
    た一組の伸縮性帯状部材とからなつており、 前記吸収性パツドは、全体として長方形状とな
    つており、その幅が約７インチから12インチ（約
    20cm〜約30cm）であり、その長さが約20インチか
    ら約25インチ（約51cm〜約63cm）であり、 前記帯状部材は、ポリエステルとゴムの混織に
    ナイロン毛羽を裏張りしたものから作られてお
    り、その伸び率は少なくとも、約60ポンド（約27
    Kg）の引張力が作用したときに200％となつてお
    り、その長さは約５インチから約11インチ（約13
    cm〜約28cm）の範囲であり、その幅は約3/4イン
    チから約２インチ（約１cm〜約５cm）とされてお
    り、 着用状態において、前記帯状部材は、前記吸収
    パツドの取付位置から着用者のウエストの脇に向
    かつて、水平方向に対して約25度ないし約45度の
    範囲の角度で配置されて、ウエスト両側の腰骨に
    係止された状態とされ、これによつて、これらの
    帯状部材から前記吸収パツドに対してこの吸収パ
    ツドを所定位置に保持するための引つ張り力が作
    用するようになつていることを特徴とする吊り留
    め式当て具。 ２ 前記各帯状部材の伸び率は、約60ポンド（約
    27Kg）の引張力が作用したときに約335％である
    ことを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第１項に記載の
    当て具。 ３ 前記帯状部材の両端部には、それぞれボタン
    が取付られており、前記吸収パツドの側には、前
    記ボタンを着脱可能に取り付け可能なボタン穴
    が、前記吸収パツドの縦中心線上に位置する股の
    部分に向かつて複数個形成されており、前記ボタ
    ンを前記複数個のボタン穴のうちから選択した一
    つのボタン穴に留めることによつて、前記帯状部
    材は着用者のウエストに対して前記の角度範囲内
    の傾斜角度で確実の取付可能となつていることを
    特徴とする特許請求の範囲第２項に記載の当て
    具。
