Description
最初に、図面を参照しつつ、実施形態による電気化学装置1の構造及び構成について説明する。図1に、電気化学装置1の断面図を示し、図2に、電気化学装置1の平面図を示す。
次に、電気化学装置1の機能及び動作について説明する。電気化学装置1は、通常、光を透過する状態(透過状態)を実現し、例えば下側基板10から光を入射すると、当該光は、下側電極12、電解質層30及び上側電極22を透過して、上側基板20から出射される。
次に、電気化学装置1の製造方法について説明する。以下では、電解質層30のメディエータ材料として塩化モリブデン、一対の電極12,22の保護層12p,22pとしてFTOを用いた電気化学装置1の製造方法を例示する。
実施形態では、下側電極12及び上側電極22が、下側基板10及び上側基板20の表面に全面的に形成されていた。しかし、下側電極12及び上側電極22は、下側基板10及び上側基板20の表面に選択的に形成されていてもよい。以下、実施形態の変形例として、下側電極12及び上側電極22が所望の平面形状に成形されている電気化学装置について説明する。
以上の実施形態及びその変形例では、非反射状態として透過状態を実現する電気化学装置を説明した。しかし、一対の基板10,20の一方を、例えば可視光を吸収する基板とすれば、非反射状態として吸収状態(黒色状態)を実現する電気化学装置が提供される。また、一対の電極12,22の一方は、電解質層30に対して不溶性を有し、かつ、透光性を有さない電極、例えばカーボンからなる黒色の電極としてもよい。
実施形態及びその変形例による電気化学装置1,1aは、特許文献1に開示されているようなディスプレイ,NDフィルタ等に応用することができる。

Claims (6)
- Agを含むエレクトロデポジション材料、及び、Ta,Mo又はNbのいずれかを含むメディエータ材料、を含有する電解質層と、
前記電解質層を挟持する一対の基板と、
前記一対の基板の相互に向かい合う面に設けられ、前記電解質層に対して不溶性を有する一対の電極と、
を備え、
前記一対の電極が、前記一対の基板の相互に向かい合う面に全面的に、又は、選択的に形成されており、
前記一対の電極の一方である第1電極は、
ITOを含む第1導電層と、
前記第1導電層と前記電解質層の間に位置し、前記電解質層に接するとともに前記電解質層に対して不溶性を有する第1保護層と、を有する積層構造である、電気化学装置。 - 前記第1電極は、前記一対の基板の相互に向かい合う面の一方の基板の面に選択的に形成され、シール枠部材により画定される領域のなかに収められており、
前記第1導電層の主機能面及び側面が前記第1保護層により覆われている、請求項1に記載の電気化学装置。 - Agを含むエレクトロデポジション材料、及び、Ta,Mo又はNbのいずれかを含むメディエータ材料、を含有する電解質層と、
前記電解質層を挟持する一対の基板と、
前記一対の基板の相互に向かい合う面に設けられ、前記電解質層に対して不溶性を有する一対の電極と、
を備え、
前記一対の電極の一方である第1電極は、
ITOを含む第1導電層と、
前記第1導電層の主機能面を覆い、前記電解質層に対して不溶性を有する第1保護層と、を含み、
前記第1電極は、前記第1導電層の側面を覆う絶縁部材をさらに含む、電気化学装置。 - 前記第1保護層は、FTO,ATO,SnO2,ポリピロール,PEDOT,IrOx,MnOx,CrOx,NiOx及びWOxからなる群から選択される1つ以上の材料を含む、請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載の電気化学装置。
- 前記一対の電極の他方である第2電極は、
ITOを含む第2導電層と、
前記第2導電層の主機能面を覆い、前記電解質層に対して不溶性を有する第2保護層と、
を含む、請求項1から4のいずれか1項に記載の電気化学装置。 - 前記第1導電層の主機能面を覆う前記第1保護層は、厚みが10~30nmである、請求項2又は3に記載の電気化学装置。
