Description
電極組立体、および、該電極組立体を収納する外装体を有して成る二次電池であって、
絶縁材を介して前記外装体に取り付けられ、前記電極組立体のタブと接続された端子部材
を有し、
前記タブが通る開口部が前記外装体に設けられ、該開口部の周囲に位置する外装体表面上に前記絶縁材を介して前記端子部材が接合されており、
前記接合のために前記開口部の周りを囲むように供される接合領域の幅寸法が部分的に小さくなっている。
本明細書でいう「二次電池」は、充電および放電の繰り返しが可能な電池のことを指している。従って、本発明に係る二次電池は、その名称に過度に拘泥されるものでなく、例えば蓄電デバイスなども対象に含まれ得る。
本発明の二次電池は、電極組立体を包み込む外装体およびその周辺部品に関して特徴を有している。特に、二次電池の外装体とそれに取り付けられる端子部材に関連する要素の点で特徴を有している。
かかる態様では、外装体の開口部が平面視円形を有している。つまり、外装体の開口部の平面視形状は種々の形態であってよいところ、本態様では、上記で参照した図6~図9で示すように、外装体の開口部55が平面視円形を有する。かかる場合、平面視円形の周縁の一部に窪んだ箇所を有していてよい。つまり、上述の切欠き部55aに相当する窪んだ箇所を有していてよい。
かかる態様では、二次電池の全体的な平面視形状が円形となっている。つまり、二次電池100が外形の点でボタン型またはコイン型となっている(図14参照)。
この態様は、電極組立体が巻回型となっている態様である。つまり、電極組立体が、正極、負極および正極と負極との間に配置されたセパレータを含む電極ユニットをロール状に巻回して成る巻回構造を有している(図1(B)参照)。
かかる態様は、外装体が主として2パーツから構成されている態様である。例えば、外装体が、金属部材の第1金属外装体および第2金属外装体と2パーツから構成されていてよい。非ラミネート構成を有する外装体の場合、第1金属外装体および第2金属外装体の各々が金属単一部材となっていてよい。本発明において、外装体は、比較的薄い厚さを有していてよい。例えば、第1金属外装体および第2金属外装体の各々は、その厚さ寸法が50μm以上200μm未満であってよく、例えば、50μm以上190μm以下、50μm以上180μm以下、あるいは、50μm以上170μm以下などであってよい。

Claims (11)
- 電極組立体、および、該電極組立体を収納する外装体を有して成る二次電池であって、
絶縁材を介して前記外装体に設けられ、前記電極組立体のタブと接続された端子部材
を有し、
前記タブが通る開口部が前記外装体に設けられ、該開口部の周囲に位置する外装体表面上に前記絶縁材を介して前記端子部材が接合されており、
前記接合のために前記開口部の周りを囲むように供される接合領域の幅寸法が部分的に小さく、
前記二次電池の上昇したセル内圧に起因して前記接合が解除可能となっている、二次電池。 - 平面視において、前記開口部の周りにて前記接合領域の前記幅寸法が非一定である、請求項1に記載の二次電池。
- 前記開口部、前記絶縁材および前記端子部材から成る群から選択される少なくとも1つの平面視形状に起因して前記接合領域の前記幅寸法が部分的に小さくなっている、請求項1に記載の二次電池。
- 前記開口部、前記絶縁材および前記端子部材から成る群から選択される少なくとも1つの平面視形状が、母形状から一部分が除された切欠き部を有する、請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 平面透視した際に前記タブと前記切欠き部とが少なくとも部分的に重なる、請求項4に記載の二次電池。
- 前記タブが前記電極組立体の主面に沿うように延在する部分を含み、
平面透視した際に前記タブと重なるように該タブが前記延在する向きに延びる仮想タブライン上に前記切欠き部が位置する、請求項4または5に記載の二次電池。 - 前記開口部が平面視円形を有し、該平面視円形の周縁の一部に窪んだ箇所を有する、請求項1~6のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記平面視円形において前記窪んだ箇所が1つのみ存在する、請求項7に記載の二次電池。
- 平面視において前記接合領域が前記開口部に対して偏心している、請求項1または2に記載の二次電池。
- 前記タブが折り畳まれた状態で前記端子部材に接続されている、請求項1~9のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記電極組立体の電極として、リチウムイオンを吸蔵放出可能な正極および負極が含まれる、請求項1~10のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
