Description
オブリーク衝突が発生すると、制御部は第1スクイブを着火した後に第2スクイブを着火する。これにより、インフレータが第1スクイブの着火及び第2スクイブの着火タイミングに対応する特性でガスを発生させる。そして、インフレータが発生したガスがエアバッグ内に供給されることで、エアバッグが膨張する。これにより、運転席側へのオブリーク衝突時に運転席側へ移動した乗員をエアバッグのサブバッグ部及びメインバッグ部によって拘束することができる。
ここで、請求項1記載の発明では、オブリーク衝突が発生した際の第2スクイブの着火タイミングが、正突が発生した際の第2スクイブの着火タイミングよりも早くなっている。これにより、オブリーク衝突が発生した際に正突が発生した際よりもインフレータからエアバッグへ速やかにガスが供給され、オブリーク衝突が発生した際のエアバッグの膨張展開完了までの時間が、正突が発生した際のエアバッグの膨張展開完了までの時間よりも短くなる。その結果、オブリーク衝突が発生した際に、エアバッグをインストルメントパネル及びフロントガラスによって速やかに支持させることができ、エアバッグの車幅方向への変位を抑制することができる。

Claims (2)
- 第1スクイブ及び第2スクイブを有し、該第1スクイブ及び該第2スクイブがそれぞれ着火されることでガスを発生させるインフレータと、
前記インフレータが発生したガスが内部に供給されることで助手席に着座した乗員とインストルメントパネル及びフロントガラスとの間で膨張展開し、膨張展開後の状態で前記助手席に着座した乗員の前方に配置されるメインバッグ部と、該メインバッグ部から前記助手席と運転席との間に張り出すセンタバッグ部と、を有するエアバッグと、
正面衝突が発生した際においては前記第1スクイブを着火した後に前記第2スクイブを着火し、オブリーク衝突が発生した際においては前記第1スクイブを着火した後に正面衝突が発生した際よりも早いタイミングで前記第2スクイブを着火する制御部と、
を備えた車両用エアバッグ装置。 - 前記制御部は、衝突試験用のAF05ダミーと対応する又はAF05ダミーよりも小柄な乗員が前記助手席に着座している状態で正面衝突が発生した際に、衝突試験用のAM50ダミーと対応する又はAM50ダミーよりも大柄な乗員が前記助手席に着座している状態で正面衝突が発生した際よりも早いタイミングで前記第2スクイブを着火する請求項1記載の車両用エアバッグ装置。
