水を溶媒としてスラリー安定化剤(カルボキシメチルセルロース、Daicel社、2200)を溶解し、アルミナ(日本軽金属株式会社、LS235)を、無機物粒子に対するスラリー安定化剤の割合が0.5wt%となるように添加した。このように分散したアルミナスラリーに、アルミナとバインダーとが2:8の重量比となるようにバインダー(Zeon社、BM-L301)を添加することで、最終スラリーを完成した。固形分40%として完成したスラリーの粘度は、10/secのせん断速度において12cPを示し、12時間の放置後にも分散性が維持された。
分散したスラリーを、正極活物質層の30%の厚さ、幅1.7mmを有するようにコーティングすることで、絶縁層処理された正極を完成した。このように絶縁層処理した正極をもって二次電池を完成した。
スラリー安定化剤を用いなかったことを除いて、実施例1と同様にスラリーを製造した。該当スラリーの粘度は、10/secのせん断速度で10cPを示したが、12時間の放置後には沈降し、コーティング工程性を確保できなかった。
アルミナとバインダーとの混合比を9:1に調整したことを除いては、実施例1と同様に正極を製造した。該当のスラリーの粘度は10/secのせん断速度において92cPを示し、コーティング工程性を確保できなかった。
電気絶縁層のコーティングを行わなかった状態で、実施例1と同一の正極を準備した。前記正極をもってリチウム二次電池を完成した。
実施例1及び比較例3で製造されたリチウム二次電池を対象として、150℃で1時間放置するホットボックステストを施した。
実施例1のリチウム二次電池は、ホットボックステスト時、電圧の降下なく安全性を満たした。テスト後の電池分解写真は、図3に示したようである。図3を見れば、分離膜が収縮したが、絶縁コーティング層は、安全性テスト後にも維持されることを確認することができる。
比較例3のリチウム二次電池は、ホットボックステスト時、大幅な電圧降下が観察された。テスト後の電池分解写真は図4に示したようであり、分離膜が収縮され、正極と負極との間に短絡があったことを確認することができる。
Claims (11)
- 無機フィラー、水系バインダー及びスラリー安定化剤を含む電気絶縁層がコーティングされており、
前記無機フィラーと前記水系バインダーとが、5:95~50:50の重量比で含まれており、
前記電気絶縁層が、電極タブのうち電極リードとの接続部を除いた部分に形成されており、
前記スラリー安定化剤が、無機フィラーに対し0.1~5wt%の量で用いられる、電極タブ。 - 前記電極タブが、電極集電体から延びており、前記電気絶縁層が、電極集電体に形成された活物質層よりも薄い厚さで電極タブに形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極タブ。
- 前記電気絶縁層が、活物質層に対し5%以上100%未満の厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の電極タブ。
- 前記電気絶縁層が、活物質層に対し10~50%の厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の電極タブ。
- 前記無機フィラーが、SiO2、TiO2、Al2O3、AlOOH、γ-AlOOH、ZrO2、SnO2、CeO2、MgO、CaO、ZnO、Y2O3、Pb(Zr,Ti)O3(PZT)、(Pb,La)(Zr,Ti)O3(PLZT)、Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3(PMN-PT)、BaTiO3、hafnia(HfO2)及びSrTiO3からなる群より選択された一種または二種以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極タブ。
- 前記水系バインダーが、スチレン-ブタジエンゴム、アクリレーテッドスチレン-ブタジエンゴム、アクリロニトリル-ブタジエンゴム、アクリロニトリル-ブタジエン-スチレンゴム、アクリルゴム、ブチルゴム、フッ素ゴム、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、エチレンプロピレン共重合体、ポリエチレンオキシド、ポリビニルピロリドン、ポリエピクロロヒドリン、ポリホスファゼン、ポリアクリロニトリル、ポリスチレン、エチレンプロピレンジエン共重合体、ポリビニルピリジン、クロロスルホン化ポリエチレン、ラテックス、ポリエステル樹脂、アクリル樹脂、フェノール樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、ポリビニルアルコール、ヒドロキシプロピルメチルセルロース、ヒドロキシプロピルセルロース及びジアセチルセルロースからなる群より選択された一種または二種以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極タブ。
- 前記スラリー安定化剤が、カルボキシメチルセルロース、カルボキシエチルセルロースまたはこれらの誘導体であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極タブ。
- 前記電極タブが、正極タブであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極タブ。
- 請求項1に記載の電極タブを含む二次電池。
- 前記二次電池が、リチウム二次電池であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の二次電池。
- 前記二次電池が、角形の二次電池またはパウチ型の二次電池であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の二次電池。
