本開示は、通常、有機酸塩を含む水溶液から有機酸を回収するためのバイポーラ膜電気透析方法及びシステムを提供する。バイポーラ膜電気透析システムは、少なくとも一つの三室型バイポーラ電気透析セルを有するバイポーラ膜電気透析積層体及び少なくとも一つの二室型バイポーラ電気透析セルを有するバイポーラ膜電気透析積層体を含む。少なくとも一つの三室型バイポーラ電気透析セル及び少なくとも一つの二室型バイポーラ電気透析セルは、同じ電気透析積層体にあることができる。
本開示による電気透析積層体において使用されるバイポーラ電気透析膜は、カチオン交換層に結合される触媒を有するアニオン交換層からなる。有用なバイポーラ膜の代表例は、商標BtB BP(GEから入手可能)で販売される。電気透析積層体において使用するバイポーラ電気透析膜は、全て同一でもよいし、同一でなくてもよい。

前記有機酸を含有する前記精製溶液は、前記有機酸含有溶液よりも低い有機酸塩濃度を有する、システム。 - 前記少なくとも一つの三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セル及び前記少なくとも一つの二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルは、単一バイポーラ膜電気透析積層体の中にある、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記単一バイポーラ膜電気透析積層体は、前記アノードと前記カソードとの間にある、請求項2に記載のシステム。
- 前記システムは、1:1から20:1の比で三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セル及び二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルを含む、請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載のシステム。
- 前記システムは、5:1から10:1の比で三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セル及び二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルを含む、請求項4に記載のシステム。
- 前記電気透析セルは、カチオン交換樹脂又はアニオン交換樹脂を含む酸性溶液製造部屋を含む、請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載のシステム。
- 前記カチオン交換樹脂は、H+型又はNa+型である、請求項6に記載システム。
- 前記カチオン交換樹脂は、強酸性カチオン交換樹脂である、請求項6に記載システム。
- 前記カチオン交換樹脂は、H+型のスルホン酸官能基を有するスチレン−DVBゲルである、請求項6に記載システム。
- 前記アニオン交換樹脂は、OH−型である、請求項6に記載システム。
- 前記アニオン交換樹脂は、OH−型の四級アミン官能基を有するスチレン−DVBゲルである、請求項6に記載システム。
- 前記少なくとも一つの三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルから前記少なくとも一つの二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルへ、前記有機酸含有溶液を輸送するように適した処理システムをさらに含む、請求項1乃至11のいずれか一項に記載のシステム。
- 前記アノードは白金で被覆したチタンである、請求項1乃至12のいずれか一項に記載のシステム。
- 前記カソードはステンレス鋼である、請求項1乃至13のいずれか一項に記載のシステム。
- 少なくとも一つの三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルと、少なくとも一つの二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルとを含み、
前記少なくとも一つの三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルは、有機酸含有溶液を製造し、前記少なくとも一つの二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルは、前記有機酸含有溶液を受け入れる、
バイポーラ膜電気透析積層体。 - 少なくとも複数の電気透析セルは、強酸性カチオン交換樹脂を含む酸性溶液製造部屋を含む、請求項15に記載のバイポーラ膜電気透析積層体。
- 有機酸の塩を含む供給溶液から有機酸を精製する方法であって、
前記有機酸塩溶液を、電気透析積層体中の少なくも一つの三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルに供給し、塩減少生産物流、塩基含有流、及び有機酸含有流を製造する工程と、
前記有機酸含有流を、電気透析積層体中の少なくも一つの二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルに供給し、塩基含有流、及び精製有機酸含有流を製造する工程と、を含む方法。 - 前記少なくとも一つの二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルは、三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルを含む異なる電気透析積層体中にある、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも一つの三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セル、及び前記少なくとも一つの二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルは、同じ電気透析積層体中にある、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記有機酸塩溶液は、少なくとも5つの三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルに並列に供給される、請求項17乃至19のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルの前記有機酸含有流の少なくとも一部は、三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セル対二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルの比が1:1から20:1である、十分な数の二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルに供給される、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 三室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セル対二室型バイポーラ膜電気透析セルの比が、5:1から10:1である、請求項21に記載の方法。
