Description
前記第1の基板は、前記TFTのソース電極と、前記横方向電界を形成する画素電極とのコンタクト用のスルーホールが形成された有機平坦化膜を有し、
前記スルーホールの断面形状が、前記画素電極が延在する側とその他の側とで前記スルーホールの中心軸に対して非対称であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置とする。
前記第1の基板は、スルーホールが形成された有機平坦化膜を有し、
前記スルーホールは側壁上部において、前記スルーホールのテーパ部での非ラビング領域を縮小するために前記画素電極が延在する側の方がその他の側に比べてテーパ角度が小さいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置とする。
以上本実施例によれば、実施例1と同様の効果を得ることができる。また、実施例1に比べ非ラビング領域の変動を低減することができる。

Claims (10)
- TFT及び配向膜を備えた第1基板と、スペーサを備えた第2基板と、前記スペーサによりギャップが規定された前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に狭持された液晶とを備え、横方向電界で前記液晶を駆動する液晶表示装置において、
前記第1の基板は、前記TFTのソース電極と、前記横方向電界を形成する画素電極とのコンタクト用のスルーホールが形成された有機平坦化膜を有し、
前記スルーホールの断面形状が、前記画素電極が延在する側とその他の側とで前記スルーホールの中心軸に対して非対称であり、
前記画素電極は前記スルーホール近傍で屈曲部を有する形状であり、
前記非対称側のスルーホールの範囲は、平面的に見て前記画素電極の屈曲部までであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記画素電極が延在する方向と、前記TFTのドレイン配線が延在する方向とは互いに平行であり、
前記画素電極が延在する方向と、前記TFTのゲート配線が延在する方向とは互いに直交することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記スペーサは、前記TFTのゲート配線が延在する方向であって、前記有機平坦化膜を介して前記TFTのドレイン配線上に配置されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記配向膜は、ラビングにより配向処理されるものであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - TFT及び配向膜を備えた第1基板と、スペーサを備えた第2基板と、前記スペーサによりギャップが規定された前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に狭持された液晶とを備えた液晶表示装置において、
前記第1の基板は、スルーホールが形成された有機平坦化膜を有し、
前記スルーホールは側壁上部において、前記スルーホールのテーパ部での非ラビング領域を縮小するために前記画素電極が延在する側の方がその他の側に比べてテーパ角度が小さく、
前記画素電極は前記スルーホール近傍で屈曲部を有する形状であり、
前記テーパ角度が小さい側の前記スルーホールの範囲は、平面的に見て前記画素電極の屈曲部までであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項5記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記有機平坦化膜はフォトレジスト膜で形成されたものであり、
前記スルーホールは、前記フォトレジスト膜をハーフトーンマスクを用いて露光することにより形成されたものであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項5記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記液晶は、横電界で駆動されるものであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項7記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記スルーホールは、前記TFTのソース電極と前記横電界を形成する画素電極とのコンタクト用のスルーホールであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項8記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記スペーサは、前記TFTのゲート配線が延在する方向であって、前記有機平坦化膜を介して前記TFTのドレイン配線上に配置されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項5記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記配向膜は、ラビングにより配向処理されるものであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
