Description
10.0部(10.0グラム)のTiO2顔料を、120ミリリットルのプラスチックボトル内に加えた。ボトルに、100グラムの0.3ミリメートル直径のジルコニアビーズを充填した(実際のミル用にボトル内に空間をいくらか残すべきである)。ボトルをResodyn(商標)音響ミキサー内部に入れ、TiO2顔料をジルコニアビーズによって20分間80%の強度で粉砕するようにした。6.0部(6.0グラム)のSolsperse(登録商標)21000ポリマー分散剤を、30分後のボトルに(TiO2顔料およびジルコニアビーズの混合物に)加えた。顔料および分散剤の混合物をさらに10分間粉砕した。
15.0部(15.0グラム)のTiO2顔料を、120ミリリットルのプラスチックボトル内に加えた。ボトルに、100グラムの0.3ミリメートル直径のジルコニアビーズを充填した(実際のミル用にボトル内に空間をいくらか残すべきである)。ボトルをResodyn(商標)音響ミキサー内部に入れ、TiO2顔料をジルコニアビーズによって20分間80%の強度で粉砕するようにした。9.0部(9.0グラム)のSolsperse(登録商標)21000ポリマー分散剤を、20分後のボトルに(TiO2顔料およびジルコニアビーズの混合物に)加えた。顔料および分散剤の混合物をさらに10分間粉砕した。最終の混合物(濃厚な白色ペースト)をビーカー内に入れ、これにゆっくり加えたのは(すでに120℃で溶融し、徹底的に混合している)、46.4部(46.4グラム)の蒸留ポリエチレンワックス(実施例1に記載したもの)、11.2部(11.2グラム)の樹脂6(米国特許第6860930号明細書の実施例IIに記載されるように調製したトリアミド樹脂)、11.2部(11.2グラム)のKEMAMIDE(登録商標)S−180(ステアリルステアルアミド)、6.2部(6.2グラム)のKE−100(水素化されたアビエチン酸のトリグリセリド)、0.9部(0.9グラム)のウレタン樹脂(米国特許第6309453号明細書の実施例4で調製されるようなもの)、および0.1部(0.1グラム)のNaugard(登録商標)445(芳香族アミン抗酸化剤)であった。生じたインクを2時間120℃にて撹拌した。最終のインクを5μmメッシュを通して簡単にろ過して、ビーズを単離すると共にインクをろ過した。
120ミリリットルのLLDPE(直鎖状低密度ポリエチレン)ボトル内に、100.0グラムの0.3ミリメートル直径のYTZ(登録商標)粉砕ビーズ(東ソー株式会社から入手可能なイットリア安定化ジルコニア粉末から製造した粉砕媒体)および10.0グラムのTi−Pure(登録商標)R−931二酸化チタンを入れた。続いて、混合物を、Resodyn(商標)Acoustic Mixer内に入れ、90%の強度(98から104Gの力を発生)で20分間にわたって混合して、MIXTURE Aを混合形成した。初めの混合工程の後、6.0グラムのSOLSPERSE(登録商標)21000をMIXTURE Aに加え、続いてResodyn(商標)Acoustic Mixer内に入れ、90%の強度(98から104Gの力を発生)で10分間にわたって混合して、MIXTURE Bを混合形成した。この実施例をもう一度繰り返して、十分な量の色素性白色濃縮物を、本明細書中の続く処理工程のために製造した。
600ミリリットルのビーカー内に、15.13グラムのKEMAMIDE(登録商標)S−180、15.13グラムのトリアミドワックス(米国特許第6860930号明細書の実施例IIに記載されるようなトリアミド)、61.34グラムの蒸留ポリエチレンワックス(1モルあたり350から730グラムの平均ピーク分子量、約1.03から約3.0の多分散度、および非対称の分子量分布(高い分子量の側の方にゆがむ)を有し、米国特許第7407539号に記載されるように改変したポリエチレンワックス)、8.38グラムのKE−100樹脂、1.22グラムのウレタン樹脂(3等量のステアリルイソシアネートおよびグリセロール系アルコールのアダクトであり、米国特許第6309453号明細書の実施例4に記載されるように調製されるもの)および0.14グラムのNAUGARD(登録商標)445抗酸化剤を入れた。混合物を120℃のオーブンに移し、2時間後、120℃に設定したホットプレート上に移して1時間混合し、MIXTURE Cを形成した。実施例1で反復調製した2つのMIXTURE Bの調製物を、600ミリリットルのビーカーへ定量的に移し、続いて120℃のオーブンに入れた(1時間)。その後、MIXTURE Bを含む600ミリリットルのビーカーを120℃に設定したホットプレート(高架式撹拌装置および多翼型インペラを備え、オーブン中で120℃に予熱したもの)へ移した。MIXTURE Bを、最初はゆっくり撹拌し、30分間にわたってMIXTURE Cでゆっくり希釈しつつ、撹拌速度を350RPMに上げ、その速度でさらに2時間撹拌した。新たに形成された色素性白色インクを、KST−47ろ過装置を用いて、120℃にて、165×800 304 SSメッシュ(25ミクロンに定められている)を通してろ過することによって、YTZ(登録商標)粉砕媒体から単離した。
実施例4の色素性白色インク、MIXTURE Cを、120℃に設定したホットプレート(高架式撹拌装置および多翼型インペラを備え、オーブン中で120℃に予熱したもので、撹拌速度を300RPMとした)上へ戻した。撹拌中のMIXTURE Cに、Risk Reactorから市販されている0.74gのDFKY−C7(透明な赤色蛍光性染料)をゆっくり加えた。インクを2時間撹拌してから、KST−47ろ過装置(Advantec Corporationから入手可能である)を用いて、120℃にて、165×800 304 SSメッシュ(25ミクロンに定められており、McMaster−Carrから入手可能である)を通してろ過した。
Claims (9)
- 相変化インクを調製するプロセスであって、
(a)白色着色剤を、約30から約110gの加速度の音響混合に曝すことと、
(b)任意で、分散剤を加えて、前記白色着色剤および分散剤を約30から約110gの加速度のさらなる音響混合に曝すことと、
(c)別途、任意の抗酸化剤、任意の共力剤ならびに相変化インク担体であって、(i)分岐トリアミドおよび(ii)ポリエチレンワックス、フィッシャー−トロプシュワックスまたはこれらの混合物もしくは組合せを含む相変化インク担体を溶融混合して、溶融混合物を形成することと、
(d)(c)の溶融混合物を(a)または(b)の音響混合した白色着色剤に撹拌しながら加えることと、
(e)任意で蛍光性染料を撹拌しながら加えることと、
(f)任意で前記相変化インクをろ過することと、を含むプロセス。 - 前記白色着色剤が、二酸化チタン顔料、ルチル、酸化亜鉛顔料、硫化亜鉛顔料、炭酸カルシウム顔料、クレイ、リトポンまたはこれらの混合物もしくは組合せから選択される白色顔料である、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記白色着色剤が、約200から約300ナノメートルの粒径を有する二酸化チタン顔料であり、
前記白色着色剤が、インクの総重量に基づいて約1から約60重量パーセントの量でインク中に存在する、請求項1に記載のプロセス。 - (a)または(b)の音響混合ステップ、またはその組み合わせステップが、粉砕媒体の存在下で行われ、
前記粉砕媒体が、ステンレス鋼ショット、球形セラミック媒体、円筒形セラミック媒体、球形ガラスビーズ、およびこれらの組合せから成る群から選択される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。 - 前記蛍光性染料が、ローダミン、フルオレセイン、クマリン、ナフタルイミド、ベンゾキサンテン、アクリジン、アゾ、希土類金属の配位錯体、およびこれらの混合物もしくは組合せから成る群から選択される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- (1)インクジェット印刷装置内に、音響処理された白色着色剤であって、約30から約110gの加速度の音響混合を受けた白色着色剤と、任意で約30から約110gの加速度の音響混合を受けた着色剤分散剤と、任意の共力剤と、任意の蛍光性染料と、(i)分岐トリアミドおよび(ii)ポリエチレンワックス、フィッシャー−トロプシュワックスまたはこれらの混合物もしくは組合せを含む相変化インク担体と、を含む相変化インク組成物を組み込むことと、
(2)インクを溶融させることと、
(3)前記溶融したインクの小滴を画像状パターンに下地材上へ吐出することと、を含むプロセス。 - 前記任意の蛍光性染料が存在し、
前記溶融したインクは、画像状パターンに有色の下地材上へ吐出されて、有色の下地材上に印刷画像を形成し、前記印刷画像は、紫外光下で見た場合に、色を白色から異なる色に変える、請求項6に記載のプロセス。 - 前記任意の蛍光性染料が存在し、
前記溶融したインクは、画像状様に吐出されて、下地材上に白色の背景を形成し、
有色インクを前記白色の背景上に画像状様に堆積させることによって、印刷画像が形成され、前記背景は、紫外光に曝した場合に、色を白色から異なる色に変える、請求項6に記載のプロセス。 - 前記下地材は、暗い下地材、黒色の下地材、茶色の下地材、ボール紙下地材、クラフト紙下地材および厚紙下地材から成る群から選択される、請求項6に記載のプロセス。
