Description
セル配置において、流動場プレートは、アノード及びカソードの各々のサイトに提供される。電流コレクタとして作用するこれらのプレートは、(a)電極の支持体を提供し、(b)燃料及び酸化剤のため、それぞれのアノード及びカソード表面への接近流路を提供し、及び、(c)いくつかの燃料電池構造体においてセルが稼動している間に生成する水を除去するための流路を提供する。複数セル配置では、部品は積層されて、複数の個々の燃料電池を有する燃料電池アセンブリを提供する。2つ以上の燃料電池は、一般的には直列で共に連結され、ときには、並列で連結して構造体の全体的な電力出力を高めることができる。直列配置では、所定のプレートの一方の面は1つのセルのアノードプレートとして、及びこのプレートの他の面は隣接セルのカソードプレートとして働く。このように直列に連結された複数の燃料電池配置は、燃料電池スタックと呼ばれ、そして通常は、タイロッド及び末端プレートによって、共に組立て状態に保持される。このスタックは、典型的には、燃料と酸化剤をアノード及びカソード流動場流路に導くためのマニホールド及び入口を具備する。
本発明は、電気化学セルの部品を接合する方法及び接合するための組成物に関する。本明細書で用いる場合、電気化学セルは、限定されないが、化学反応及び化学的燃焼を含めて、化学的原料から電気を生産するデバイスである。有用な電気化学セルとしては、燃料電池、乾電池、湿電池及び他の同種のものが挙げられる。以下に非常に詳しく記載するが、燃料電池は、化学反応物質から電気を生産する。湿電池は液体の電解質を有している。乾電池は、多孔質媒体に吸収されているか又は流れないようにした電解質を有している。
カソード反応:1/2O2+2H++2e−→H2O (II)
図2は、硬化又は硬化性組成物40を、膜・電極アセンブリ36の周辺部33か又は周辺近傍で有する膜・電極アセンブリ36を示している。以下に記載されるように、組成物40は、互いに燃料電池の異なった部品の封止及び/又は接合に対して有用である。
Claims (13)
- 燃料電池部品上にガスケットを形成するための装置であって、
対向する合わせ面を有する第1および第2のモールド型部材であって、前記第1および第2のモールド型部材の少なくとも1つが化学放射線に対して透明な透明モールド型部材であり、前記モールド型部材の少なくとも1つがガスケットの形のキャビティおよび前記キャビティと流体連通するポートを有し、前記キャビティは前記燃料電池部品と流体連通するよう配置され、前記透明モールド型部材は前記キャビティまで化学放射線を透過させ、
前記対向する合わせ面が当接されたときに、生成された化学放射線が前記キャビティまで透過可能な線源と
を備える装置。 - 該燃料電池部品が該第1および第2のモールド型部材の間に配置できるように構成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 該第1のモールド型部材が該燃料電池部品を含むか、または、該第1のモールド型部材が該燃料電池部品であり、該第2のモールド型部材が該化学放射線に対して透明な該透明モールド型部材である、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 該第2のモールド型部材が
該キャビティに1液型の化学放射線硬化性液体シーラント組成物を流体射出する注入ポートと、
前記化学放射線硬化性液体シーラント組成物が該燃料電池部品のガス拡散層に浸透するように圧力が加わり、前記化学放射線硬化性液体シーラント組成物が該燃料電池部品の端を完全に被覆するように圧力が加わるように該キャビティから脱ガスする第2ポートと
を備える、請求項3に記載の装置。 - 該圧力は690kPa以下である、請求項4に記載の装置。
- 該第1のモールド型部材が該燃料電池部品を含む、請求項3〜5のいずれか1項に記載の装置。
- 該第2のモールド型部材に該キャビティおよび該ポートが存在している、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 該第1のモールド型部材が該燃料電池部品である、請求項3〜5のいずれか1項に記載の装置。
- 該第2のモールド型部材に該キャビティおよび該ポートが存在している、請求項8に記載の装置。
- 該モールド型内に積層され位置を合わされた該燃料電池部品の間、頂部、底部および端部を該化学放射線硬化性液体シーラント組成物が通過できるようにする連続経路を該第1および第2のモールド型部材の少なくとも1つが具備する、請求項7または9に記載の装置。
- 該燃料電池部品が膜・電極アセンブリである、請求項2〜10のいずれか1項に記載の装置。
- 該膜・電極アセンブリは積層体である、請求項11に記載の装置。
- 燃料電池部品上にガスケットを形成するための装置であって、
対向する合わせ面を有する第1および第2のモールド型部材であって、前記第1および第2のモールド型部材の少なくとも1つが化学放射線に対して透明な透明モールド型部材であり、前記モールド型部材の少なくとも1つがガスケットの形のキャビティおよび前記キャビティと流体連通するポートを有し、前記キャビティは前記燃料電池部品と流体連通するよう配置され、前記透明モールド型部材は前記キャビティまで化学放射線を透過させ、
前記対向する合わせ面が当接されたときに、生成された化学放射線が前記キャビティまで透過可能な線源とを備え、
該第1のモールド型部材が該燃料電池部品を含むか、または、該第1のモールド型部材が該燃料電池部品であり、該第2のモールド型部材が該化学放射線に対して透明な該透明モールド型部材であり、
該第1および第2のモールド型部材の少なくとも1つが、化学放射線硬化性液体シーラント組成物を前記膜・電極アセンブリの周辺部、周辺端部および対向面の少なくとも1つに浸透させる経路を有し、
前記膜・電極アセンブリの周辺部、周辺端部および対向面の少なくとも1つを被覆する現場硬化型ガスケットを形成して一体ガスケットを提供する装置。
