Description
一般に、OLEDは、アノードとカソードとの間に配置され且つそれらと電気的に接続された少なくとも1つの有機層を含む。電流が流された場合、有機層(1又は複数)にアノードは正孔を注入し、カソードは電子を注入する。注入された正孔と電子はそれぞれ反対に帯電した電極に向かって移動する。電子と正孔が同じ分子上に局在する場合、励起エネルギー状態を有する局在化された電子−正孔対である「励起子」が形成される。励起子が発光機構によって緩和するときに光が発せられる。いくつかの場合には、励起子はエキシマー又はエキシプレックス上に局在化されうる。非放射機構、例えば、熱緩和も起こりうるが、通常は好ましくないと考えられる。
及び、Baldoら,“Very high-efficiency green organic light-emitting devices based on electrophosphorescence”, Appl. Phys. Lett., vol. 75, No. 3, 4-6 (1999) (“Baldo-II”)、これらを参照により全体を援用する。燐光は、米国特許第7,279,704号明細書の第5〜6欄に、より詳細に記載されており、これを参照により援用する。
有機発光デバイス中の具体的な層に有用として本明細書に記載した物質は、そのデバイス中に存在するその他の広範囲にわたる物質と組み合わせて用いることができる。例えば、本明細書に開示した発光ドーパントは、存在してもよい広い範囲のホスト、輸送層、阻止層、注入層、電極、及びその他の層と組み合わせて用いることができる。以下に記載乃至言及した物質は、本明細書に記載した化合物と組み合わせて有用でありうる物質の非限定例であり、当業者は組み合わせて有用でありうるその他の物質を特定するために文献を容易に参考にすることができる。
フタロシアニン又はポルフィリン誘導体;芳香族アミン誘導体;インドロカルバゾール誘導体;フルオロ炭化水素を含むポリマー;導電性ドーパントを伴うポリマー;導電性ポリマー、例えば、PEDOT/PSS;ホスホン酸及びシラン誘導体などの化合物から誘導される自己組織化モノマー;金属酸化物誘導体、例えば、MoOx;p型半導体有機化合物、例えば、1,4,5,8,9,12−ヘキサアザトリフェニレンヘキサカルボニトリル;金属錯体、及び架橋性化合物。
2−アミノ−6−クロロ安息香酸(25.0 g, 143 mmol)を500mLの二口丸底フラスコ中で120mLの無水THFに溶かした。この溶液を氷水浴中で冷やした。215mLの1.0Mリチウムアルミニウムヒドリド(LAH)のTHF溶液を次に滴下して添加した。全てのLAHを添加した後、反応混合物を室温まで温まるようにさせておき、夜通し室温で撹拌した。約10mLの水を反応混合物に添加し、次に7gの15%NaOHを添加した。さらに20gの水を反応混合物に添加した。有機THF層をデカンテーションし、固体を酢酸エチル約200mLとともに添加し、酢酸エチル有機部分及びTHF部分を一緒にし、そしてNa2SO4乾燥剤を添加した。その混合物を濾過して、蒸発させた。約20gの黄色固体が得られ、さらなる精製なしに次のステップの反応に用いた。
(2−アミノ−6−クロロフェニル)メタノール(16 g, 101 mmol)、5,7−ジメチル−3,4−ジヒドロナフタレン−1(2H)−オン(20.0 g, 111 mmol)、RuCl2(PPh3)3(0.971 g, 1.01 mmol)、及びKOH(5.7 g, 101 mmol)を200mLのトルエン中で12時間還流させた。ディーン・スタークトラップを使用して反応物から水を集めた。その反応混合物を室温まで冷えるようにし、シリカゲルの詰め物を通して濾過し、ジクロロメタンで溶離させた。生成物をメタノールで洗い、ヘキサンから再結晶させて、約20gの所望の生成物を得て、これはGC−MSで確認した。
8−クロロ−2,4−ジメチル−5,6−ジヒドロベンゾ[c]アクリジン(15.0 g, 51.1 mmol)、イソブチルボロン酸(7.8 g, 77 mmol)、ジシクロへキシル(2′,6′−ジメトキシ−[1,1′−ビフェニル]−2−イル)ホスフィン(1.6 g, 4.08 mmol)、リン酸カリウム一水和物(41.2 g, 179 mmol)を300mLのトルエン中で混ぜた。この系を20分間脱ガスした。Pd2(dba)3(0.93 g, 1.02 mmol)を次に添加し、その系を夜通し還流させた。室温に冷やした後、セライト(登録商標)の詰め物を通して反応混合物を濾過し、トルエン中30%酢酸エチルで溶離させた。約19.5gの粗製液体が得られた。この粗生成物をヘキサン中5%アセトンから再結晶させて約14.9gの純粋な生成物を得て(99.6%)、これはGC−MSによって確認した。
8−イソブチル−2,4−ジメチル−5,6−ジヒドロベンゾ[c]アクリジン(11.5 g, 36.5 mmol)、IrCl3・4H2O(4.5 g, 12.2 mmol)、2−エトキシエタノール(90 mL)、及び水(30 mL)の混合物を窒素下で夜通し還流させた。その反応混合物を濾過し、MeOH(3×20 mL)で洗った。約9gのダイマーが、真空乾燥後に得られた。このダイマーはさらに精製することなく次のステップに用いた。
ダイマー(3.5 g, 2.07 mmol)、ペンタン−2,4−ジオン(2.07 g, 20.7 mmol)、Na2CO3(2.19 g, 20.7 mmol)、及び2−エトキシエタノール(100 mL)を室温で24時間撹拌した。沈殿物を濾過し、メタノールで洗った。この固体を、(ヘキサン中15%のTEAで前処理した)シリカゲルの詰め物を通し、メチレンクロライドで溶出することによってさらに精製した。0.6gの生成物である化合物9を精製後に得た。この化合物はLC−MSで確認した。
全てのデバイス例は、高真空(<10−7Torr)熱蒸着(VTE)によって作製した。アノード電極は、1200Åのインジウム錫オキシド(ITO)である。カソードは、10ÅのLiFとそれに続く1000ÅのAlからなる。全てのデバイスは、作製後直ちに窒素グローブボックス(<1ppmのH2O及びO2)中でエポキシ樹脂を用いてシールしたガラス蓋で密封し、吸湿剤をそのパッケージ内に組み込んだ。
Claims (17)
- 下記式IIIで表される化合物:
R1、R2、R3、R4 、R1′、R2′、及びR3′はそれぞれ独立に、水素、重水素、及びアルキルからなる群から選択され、
R 5 はアルキルであり、
R6のそれぞれは独立に、水素、重水素、ハライド、アルキル、シクロアルキル、ヘテロアルキル、アリールアルキル、アルコキシ、アリールオキシ、アミノ、シリル、アルケニル、シクロアルケニル、ヘテロアルケニル、アルキニル、アリール、ヘテロアリール、アシル、カルボニル、カルボン酸、エステル、ニトリル、イソニトリル、スルファニル、スルフィニル、スルホニル、ホスフィノ、及びそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択され;
少なくとも1つのR6は、4つ以上の炭素原子を有するアルキルであり、
いずれか2つの隣接するR1、R2、R3、及びR4は、任意選択により場合によっては連結してアルキレン基を形成していてもよく;
R5は、モノ、ジ、又はトリ置換を表すことができ;
R6は、モノ、ジ、トリ、又はテトラ置換を表すことができ;
mは、1又は2である。 - R1、R2、R3、及びR4のうち少なくとも1つはアルキルである、請求項1に記載の化合物。
- R1、R2、R3、及びR4のうち少なくとも1つは、2つより多い炭素原子を有するアルキルである、請求項1に記載の化合物。
- R1、R2、R3、R4、及びR6のうち少なくとも1つはイソブチルである、請求項1に記載の化合物。
- R1′、R2′、及びR3′のうち少なくとも1つが、そのカルボニル基のα位よりも遠い位置で分岐している分岐アルキル基を含む、請求項1に記載の化合物。
- R1′及びR3′のうち少なくとも1つがイソブチルである、請求項1に記載の化合物。
- R2′が水素である、請求項1に記載の化合物。
- 少なくとも1つのR6は、4つ以上の炭素原子を有するアルキルであり、そのほかのR6はそれが存在する場合には、アルキル、シクロアルキル、ヘテロアルキル、アリールアルキル、シクロアルケニル、ヘテロアルケニル、アルキニル、アリール、及びヘテロアリールからなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の化合物。
- 第一の有機発光デバイスを含み、さらに、
アノード;
カソード、及び;
前記アノード及びカソードの間に配置された有機層をさらに含み、前記有機層が下記式III:
R1、R2、R3、R4 、R1′、R2′、及びR3′はそれぞれ独立に、水素、重水素、及びアルキルからなる群から選択され、
R 5 はアルキルであり、
R6のそれぞれは独立に、水素、重水素、ハライド、アルキル、シクロアルキル、ヘテロアルキル、アリールアルキル、アルコキシ、アリールオキシ、アミノ、シリル、アルケニル、シクロアルケニル、ヘテロアルケニル、アルキニル、アリール、ヘテロアリール、アシル、カルボニル、カルボン酸、エステル、ニトリル、イソニトリル、スルファニル、スルフィニル、スルホニル、ホスフィノ、及びそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択され;
少なくとも1つのR6は、4つ以上の炭素原子を有するアルキルであり、
いずれか2つの隣接するR1、R2、R3、及びR4は、任意選択により場合によっては連結してアルキレン基を形成していてもよく;
R5は、モノ、ジ、又はトリ置換を表すことができ;
R6は、モノ、ジ、トリ、又はテトラ置換を表すことができ;
mは、1又は2である。)
で表される化合物を含む、第一のデバイス。 - 前記第一のデバイスが消費者製品である、請求項10に記載の第一のデバイス。
- 前記第一のデバイスが有機発光デバイスである、請求項10に記載の第一のデバイス。
- 前記第一のデバイスが照明パネルを含む、請求項10に記載の第一のデバイス。
- 前記有機層が発光層であり、且つ前記化合物が発光ドーパントである、請求項10に記載の第一のデバイス。
- 前記有機層がさらにホストを含む、請求項10に記載の第一のデバイス。
- 前記ホストが金属8−ヒドロキシキノレートである、請求項15に記載の第一のデバイス。
