Description
一般に、OLEDは、アノードとカソードとの間に配置され且つそれらと電気的に接続された少なくとも1つの有機層を含む。電流が流された場合、有機層(1又は複数)にアノードは正孔を注入し、カソードは電子を注入する。注入された正孔と電子はそれぞれ反対に帯電した電極に向かって移動する。電子と正孔が同じ分子上に局在する場合、励起エネルギー状態を有する局在化された電子−正孔対である「励起子」が形成される。励起子が発光機構によって緩和するときに光が発せられる。いくつかの場合には、励起子はエキシマー又はエキシプレックス上に局在化されうる。非放射機構、例えば、熱緩和も起こりうるが、通常は好ましくないと考えられる。

有機発光デバイス中の特定の層に有用として本明細書に記載した物質は、そのデバイス中に存在するその他の広範囲にわたる物質と組み合わせて用いることができる。例えば、本明細書に開示した発光ドーパントは、存在してもよい広い範囲のホスト、輸送層、阻止層、注入層、電極、及びその他の層と組み合わせて用いることができる。以下に記載乃至言及した物質は、本明細書に記載した化合物と組み合わせて有用でありうる物質の非限定例であり、当業者は組み合わせて有用でありうるその他の物質を特定するために文献を容易に参考にすることができる。
フタロシアニン又はポルフィリン誘導体;芳香族アミン誘導体;インドロカルバゾール誘導体;フルオロ炭化水素を含むポリマー;導電性ドーパントを伴うポリマー;導電性ポリマー、例えば、PEDOT/PSS;ホスホン酸及びシラン誘導体などの化合物から誘導される自己組織化モノマー;金属酸化物誘導体、例えば、MoOx;p型半導体有機化合物、例えば、1,4,5,8,9,12−ヘキサアザトリフェニレンヘキサカルボニトリル;金属錯体、及び架橋性化合物。
いくつかの化合物を以下のとおり合成した。
500mL丸底フラスコに、2−クロロキノリン(9.0 g, 54.4 mmol)、3,5−ジメトキシフェニルボロン酸(9.2 g, 59.8 mmol)、Pd(PPh3)4(1.8 g, 1.5 mmol)、K2CO3(22.4 g, 163 mmol)、1,2−ジメトキシエタン(150 mL)及び水(150 mL)を仕込んだ。その反応混合物を窒素下で18時間加熱し還流させた。その反応混合物を次に常温まで冷やし、有機相を水相から分離した。水相を酢酸エチルで洗い、全ての有機成分を一緒にし、無水硫酸マグネシウム上で乾燥させた。次に溶媒を減圧下で除去し、生成物を、シリカゲルクロマトグラフィー(溶出液としてヘキサン中10%酢酸エチル)を使用して精製した。得られた物質を真空蒸留によってさらに精製して、12.2g(95%収率)の生成物を無色オイルとして得た。
ステップ1からの配位子(16.54 g, 71 mmol)、2−エトキシエタノール(250 mL)、及び水(50 mL)を1Lの三ツ口丸底フラスコに仕込んだ。窒素ガスをその反応混合物を通して45分間バブリングさせた。IrCl3・3H2O(5.0 g, 15 mmol)を次に添加し、その反応混合物を窒素下で17時間加熱し還流させた。反応混合物を常温まで冷やした。溶媒の約半分をロータリーエバポレーターで除去し、200mLのエトキシエタノールを反応混合物に添加した。イリジウムダイマーは単離せず、反応混合物はそのまま次のステップに用いた。
2,8−ジメチルノナン−4,6−ジオン(28 g, 152 mmol)及びNa2CO3(16 g, 152 mmol)を、ステップ2からのジクロロ架橋イリジウムダイマー溶液に添加した。その反応混合物を室温で48時間撹拌した。溶媒をロータリーエバポレーターで除去し、粗生成物をジクロロメタンに溶かした。その溶液を1インチ(2.54cm)のシリカゲルの詰め物を通して塩類を除去した。溶媒を除去して、粗生成物を、移動相としてジクロロメタン及びヘキサンを用いるシリカゲルクロマトグラフィーを使用して精製して、8.0gの生成物(73.5%収率)を得た。

ステップ1からの配位子(10.0 g, 42.5 mmol)、2−エトキシエタノール(200 mL)、及び水(40 mL)を1Lの三ツ口丸底フラスコに仕込んだ。窒素をその反応混合物を通して45分間バブリングさせた。IrCl3・3H2O(4.0 g, 10.6 mmol)を次に添加し、反応混合物を窒素下で17時間、加熱し還流させた。反応混合物を常温まで冷やした。溶媒の約半分をロータリーエバポレーターで除去し、200mLのエトキシエタノールをその反応混合物に添加した。イリジウムダイマーは単離せず、その反応混合物を次のステップでそのまま用いた。
2,8−ジメチルノナン−4,6−ジオン(20 g, 108 mmol)及びNa2CO3(11.23 g, 106 mmol)を、ステップ2からのジクロロ架橋イリジウムダイマー溶液に添加した。その反応混合物を室温で48時間撹拌した。溶媒をロータリーエバポレーターで除去し、粗生成物をジクロロメタンに溶かした。その溶液を1インチ(2.54cm)のシリカゲルの詰め物を通して塩類を除去した。溶媒を除去し、粗生成物を、移動相としてジクロロメタン及びヘキサンを用いるシリカゲルクロマトグラフィーを使用して精製し、5.0g(52%収率)の生成物を得た。
全てのデバイス例は高真空(<10−7Torr)熱蒸着によって作製した。アノード電極は1200Åのイリジウム錫酸化物(ITO)である。カソードは、10ÅのLiFとそれに続く1000ÅのAlからなる。全てのデバイスは、作製後直ちに窒素グローブボックス(<1ppmのH2O及びO2)中で、エポキシ樹脂でシールしたガラス蓋で密封し、吸湿剤をパッケージの内側に組み込んだ。
Claims (11)
- 下記式のいずれかを有する化合物からなる有機発光デバイス用の赤色発光材料。
Raは、モノ、ジ、トリ、又はテトラ置換を表すことができ;
Rbは、ジ、トリ、又はテトラ置換を表すことができ;
それぞれのRa置換基は独立に、水素、重水素、アルキル、ヘテロアルキル、アリール、又はヘテロアリール基からなる群から選択され;
それぞれのRb置換基は独立に、水素、重水素、アルキル、ヘテロアルキル、アリール、又はヘテロアリール基からなる群から選択され;
少なくとも2つのRb置換基が、アルコキシ、アリールオキシ、アルキルアミノ、及びアリールアミノからなる群から選択され;かつ、
式中、Rx、Ry、及びRzはそれぞれ独立に、水素、重水素、アルキル、ヘテロアルキル、アリール、又はヘテロアリール基からなる群から選択される。) - 前記化合物のRx及びRyのうち少なくとも1つが、カルボニル基のα位よりも遠い位置で分岐した分岐アルキル部分を含む、請求項1に記載の発光材料。
- 前記化合物のRx及びRyの少なくとも1つがイソブチルである、請求項1に記載の発光材料。
- 前記化合物のRzが水素である、請求項1に記載の発光材料。
- 前記化合物が650nm〜700nmのピーク波長をもつ発光スペクトルを有する、請求項1に記載の発光材料。
- 有機発光デバイスの発光層においてホストと組み合わせて用いるための、請求項1又は5に記載の発光材料。
- 前記ホストが金属8−ヒドロキシキノラートである、請求項8に記載の発光材料。
- 前記化合物が、650nm〜700nmのピーク波長をもつ発光スペクトルを有する、請求項1又は5に記載の発光材料。
