Claims (19)
- 光源エンジンの電流を調整する方法であって、
周期的な励起電圧を受け取るように構成された対の入力端子を提供することと、
前記対の入力端子のそれぞれに、前記励起電圧に応じて流れ、大きさが同じで極性が反対である電流を受け入れることと、
第1の回路網であって、少なくとも前記第1の回路網に結びついた順方向しきい値電圧を超える前記励起電圧に応じて、前記電流を伝導するように構成された第1の回路網の形に配置された複数の発光ダイオード(LED)を提供することと、
前記第1の回路網と直列の関係になった第2の回路網の形に配置された複数のLEDを提供するステップと、
前記第2の回路網と並列で、且つ前記第1の回路網と直列の関係になったバイパス経路を提供するステップと、
しきい値電流を超える範囲に前記電流の振幅が増大するのに応じて、前記電流の振幅の実質的に滑らか且つ連続的な関数として前記バイパス経路のインピーダンスを動的に増大させることと、
前記バイパス経路にわたる電圧降下が前記第2の回路網に結びついた順方向しきい値電圧を実質的に下回っている時に、前記電流が前記第1の回路網を流れることができるようにするとともに、前記電流を前記第2の回路網から実質的に迂回させることと、
前記バイパス経路にわたる前記電圧降下が前記第2の回路網に結びついた順方向しきい値電圧を上回っている時に、前記電流が実質的に滑らか且つ連続的に増大するのに応じて、前記バイパス経路から前記第2の回路網に実質的に全ての前記電流を、滑らか且つ連続的に遷移させることと、
を有する方法。 - 前記バイパス経路にわたる電圧降下が、前記第2の回路網に結びついた前記順方向しきい値電圧を超える範囲内で実質的に滑らか且つ連続的に増大するのに対応して、前記バイパス経路を流れる電流を実質的に滑らか且つ連続的に減少させることを更に有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記電流の振幅が前記しきい値電流を下回る範囲にあるのに応じて、前記第2の回路網と並列に実質的な低インピーダンスを提供するように前記バイパス経路を動作させることを更に有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記励起電圧は、各周期に交互極性の電圧を有する周期的な波形を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記入力端子で受け取った前記励起電圧を整流して実質的に単極の励起電圧を生成し、前記電流を駆動することを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記励起電圧を調整することを更に有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記励起電圧を調整することは、前記励起電圧の振幅を制御することを有する、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記励起電圧を調整することは、制御信号を受け取ることと、前記制御信号に含まれる情報に応じて、前記励起電圧の波形の周期の、前記制御信号に含まれる前記情報に対応する部分の間だけ前記励起電圧を前記入力端子に印加することと、を有する、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記励起電圧の波形の周期の、前記制御信号に含まれる前記情報に対応する部分の間だけ前記励起電圧を前記入力端子に印加することは、複数の前記周期のうちの少なくとも1周期の間に、前記入力端子への前記励起電圧の印加を遅延させることを含み、遅延の長さは、前記制御信号に含まれる前記情報に応じたものである、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記励起電圧の波形の周期の、前記制御信号に含まれる前記情報に対応する部分の間だけ前記励起電圧を前記入力端子に印加することは、複数の前記周期のうちの少なくとも1周期の間に、前記入力端子からの前記励起電圧の除去を早めることを含み、早める長さは、前記制御信号に含まれる前記情報に応じたものである、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記励起電圧の波形の基本周波数の2倍の周波数で、前記バイパス経路の前記インピーダンスを調整することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 単極の励起電圧の波形の基本周波数で、前記バイパス経路の前記インピーダンスを調整することを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記電流が、実質的に正弦波の波形を有する前記励起電圧に応じて、30%未満の全高調波歪みを示すように、前記第1の回路網、前記第2の回路網、前記電流の前記実質的に滑らか且つ連続的な関数、及び前記しきい値電流を構成することを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 対の入力端子であって、周期的な励起電圧を受け取り、前記励起電圧に応じて流れ、大きさが同じで極性が反対の電流を、前記対の入力端子のそれぞれに受け入れるように構成された対の入力端子と、
第1の回路網であって、少なくとも前記第1の回路網に結びついた順方向しきい値電圧を超える前記励起電圧に応じて前記電流を伝導するように構成された第1の回路網の形に配置された複数の発光ダイオード(LED)と、
前記第1の回路網と直列の関係の第2の回路網の形に配置された複数のLEDと、
前記第2の回路網と並列で、且つ前記第1の回路網と直列の関係のバイパス経路と、
前記バイパス経路内の制御可能なインピーダンス素子と、
前記制御可能なインピーダンス素子に連結された動的インピーダンス制御モジュールであって、前記電流の振幅がしきい値電流を超えて増大するのに応じて、前記電流の振幅の実質的に滑らか且つ連続的な関数として前記バイパス経路のインピーダンスを増大させ、前記バイパス経路にわたる電圧降下が、前記第2の回路網に結びついた順方向しきい値電圧を下回っている時に、前記電流が前記第1の回路網を流れることができるようにし、実質的に全ての前記電流を前記第2の回路網から迂回させ、前記バイパス経路にわたる電圧降下が前記第2の回路網に結びついた順方向しきい値電圧を上回っている時に、前記電流が実質的に滑らか且つ連続的に増大すると、実質的に全ての前記電流を前記バイパス経路から前記第2の回路網に、滑らか且つ連続的に遷移させるように前記制御可能なインピーダンス素子を動的に動作せるよう構成された動的インピーダンス制御モジュールと、
を有する光源エンジン。 - 前記動的インピーダンス制御モジュールは、前記バイパス経路にわたる前記電圧降下が前記第2の回路網に結びついた前記順方向のしきい値電圧を上回る範囲で実質的に滑らか且つ連続的に増大するのに応じて、前記バイパス経路を流れる電流を実質的に滑らか且つ連続的に減少させるように前記制御可能なインピーダンス素子を動的に動作させるように更に構成されている、請求項14に記載の光源エンジン。
- 前記動的インピーダンス制御モジュールは、前記電流の振幅が前記しきい値電流を下回る範囲にあるのに応じて、前記バイパス経路のインピーダンスを、前記第2の回路網に並列の実質的な低インピーダンス経路として維持するように前記制御可能なインピーダンス素子を動的に動作させるように構成されている、請求項14に記載の光源エンジン。
- 前記入力端子で受け取った前記励起電圧を整流して実質的に単極の励起電圧を生成し、前記電流を駆動するよう構成された整流器を更に有する、請求項14に記載の光源エンジン。
- 前記第1の回路網と直列の関係で、且つ前記第2の回路網と直列の関係の第3の回路網の形に配置された複数のLEDを更に有する、請求項14に記載の光源エンジン。
- 前記第1の回路網と直列の関係の第3の回路網の形に配置された複数のLEDと、
前記第3の回路網と並列で、前記第1の回路網と直列の関係にある第2のバイパス経路と、
前記第2のバイパス経路内の第2の制御可能なインピーダンス素子と、
前記第2の制御可能なインピーダンス素子に連結された第2の動的インピーダンス制御モジュールであって、前記電流の振幅が第2のしきい値電流を超えて増大するのに応じて、前記電流の振幅の実質的に滑らか且つ連続的な第2の関数として前記第2のバイパス経路のインピーダンスを増大させ、前記第2のバイパス経路にわたる電圧降下が前記第3の回路網に結びついた順方向しきい値電圧を下回っている時に、前記電流が前記第1の回路網を流れることができるようにし、実質的に全ての前記電流を前記第3の回路網から迂回させ、前記第2のバイパス経路にわたる前記電圧降下が前記第3の回路網に結びついた前記順方向しきい値電圧を上回っている時に、前記電流が実質的に滑らか且つ連続的に増大するのに応じて、実質的に全ての前記電流を前記第2のバイパス経路から前記第3の回路網に、滑らか且つ連続的に遷移させるように前記第2の制御可能なインピーダンス素子を動的に動作させるように構成された第2の動的インピーダンス制御モジュールと、
をさらに有する、請求項14に記載の光源エンジン。
