Description
インシュレーションバレルの内面には、被覆との間に隙間をあけた凹溝が形成され、凹溝の内部に開口部を通して止水材が入り込むため、インシュレーションバレルの内側にも止水材が行き渡る。その結果、止水材が芯線の表面に確実に被着される。そして、被覆の前端が凹溝の内部に位置しているため、被覆の前端部が拡開した状態になることがなく、芯線に止水材が確実に被着する。また、被覆の出代調整が不要となり、作業負担が軽減される。
凹溝がインシュレーションバレルの板厚範囲で形成されているため、インシュレーションバレルが径方向に大きくならずに済む。その結果、例えば、端子金具がコネクタハウジングのキャビティ内に挿入される場合に、キャビティの内面にインシュレーションバレルが干渉するのを回避できる。
本発明の実施形態1を図1ないし図4によって説明する。本実施形態に係る端子金具10は、銅又は銅合金からなる導電性の金属板を曲げ加工等して一体に成形され、電線60の端末部に接続されている。
ワイヤバレル12が芯線61に圧着されるとともに、インシュレーションバレル13が被覆62に圧着されることにより、電線60の端末部に端子金具10が接続される。この場合、被覆62の前端は、インシュレーションバレル13の前端より後方で、かつ凹溝19の内部に臨む位置に配置される。このため、図3に示すように、被覆62の前端部は、インシュレーションバレル13の内部に隠され、径方向に拡開した状態になることはない。また、電線60に端子金具10が接続された状態では、ワイヤバレル12の後端、芯線61の表面、及びインシュレーションバレル13の前端で区画される内側に、凹所50が形成される。
本発明は上記記述及び図面によって説明した実施形態に限定されるものではなく、例えば次のような実施形態も本発明の技術的範囲に含まれる。
(1)電線の芯線と端子金具とが同種の金属(例えば、両者とも銅又は銅合金)で構成されるものであってもよい。
(2)本発明は、前方に雄タブを突成させた雄型の端子金具にも適用可能である。

Claims (2)
- 導電性の板材を折り曲げて成形される端子金具であって、
電線の端末部における芯線に圧着されるワイヤバレルと、
前記ワイヤバレルの後方に位置し、前記電線の端末部における被覆に圧着されるインシュレーションバレルとを備え、
前記インシュレーションバレルの内面には、前記被覆に密着する密着部が形成されている一方、前記被覆との間に隙間をあけた凹溝が全周に亘って形成されており、
前記凹溝が前記インシュレーションバレルの前端に開口する開口部を有し、かつ、前記凹溝の内部には前記開口部を通して止水材が入り込み、
前記止水材が前記芯線の表面に被着され、前記被覆の前端が前記凹溝の内部に位置していることを特徴とする端子金具。 - 前記凹溝が、前記インシュレーションバレルの板厚範囲で形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の端子金具。
