Description
本発明の熱可塑性ポリイミドは、下記式(1)〜(3)で表される構成単位をすべて有するポリイミドであって、かつ、下記式(2)で表される構成単位と下記式(3)で表される構成単位のモル比が1/99〜99/1であり、ガラス転移温度(Tg)が180〜240℃であるものである。
本発明の熱可塑性ポリイミドは、例えば以下のような方法により製造することが出来る。
本発明の熱可塑性ポリイミドは熱可塑性ポリイミド前駆体溶液(TPI前駆体溶液)を調製し、このTPI前駆体溶液を加熱して脱水縮合させることにより得ることが出来る。
上記式(2)’で表されるジアミンとしては、好ましくは2,2−ビス[4−(4−アミノフェノキシ)フェニル]プロパンが挙げられる。また、上記式(3)’で表されるジアミンとしては、ジェファーミン(ポリオキシエチレンジアミン、ポリオキシプロピレンジアミン)から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。
ポリイミド原料としての上記式(1)’で表される酸二無水物以外の酸二無水物の具体例としては以下のものが挙げられるが、何ら以下のものに限定されるものではない。
ポリイミド原料としての、前記式(2)’で表されるジアミン及び式(3)’で表されるジアミン以外のジアミンの具体例としては以下のものが挙げられるが、何ら以下のものに限定されるものではない。
(1官能性酸無水物)
末端封鎖剤としての1官能性酸無水物の具体例としては以下のものが挙げられるが、何ら以下のものに限定されるものではない。

本発明の熱可塑性ポリイミドを製造するためのTPI前駆体溶液を調製するための前記式(1)’で表される酸二無水物以外の好ましい酸二無水物としては、3,3’,4,4’−ジフェニルエーテルテトラカルボン酸二無水物及び/又はエチレンビス(トリメリット酸モノエステル酸無水物)が挙げられ、前記式(2)’で表されるジアミン及び前記式(3)’で表されるジアミン以外の好ましいジアミンとしては4,4’−オキシジアニリン、3,4’−オキシジアニリンが挙げられる。
前記ポリアミック酸溶液を製造するための溶媒の具体例としては以下のものが挙げられるが、何ら以下のものに限定されるものではない。
本発明において、前記ポリイミド原料を溶媒中で反応させる際の、反応温度は、−30〜60℃が好ましく、−20〜40℃がより好ましい。
また、この反応において、前記ポリイミド原料及び溶媒の添加順序は特に制限はなく、いかなる順序でもよい。
また、これらのポリイミド樹脂前駆体の溶液には、上記溶媒に可溶なポリイミド樹脂、ポリアミドイミド樹脂等、他の耐熱性樹脂を混合してもよい。
さらに、接着性(密着性)向上やフィルム物性を向上させるため、シランカップリン剤や各種界面活性剤を微量添加することもできる。
本発明の積層体は、金属箔に、2層以上のポリイミドを含む層が積層された積層体であって、該ポリイミドを含む層の少なくとも1層が本発明の熱可塑性ポリイミドを含む層であるものである。この積層体は、好ましくは金属箔に、非熱可塑性ポリイミドを含む層と本発明の熱可塑性ポリイミドを含む層がこの順で積層された積層体である。
本発明において、金属箔としては、銅箔、ステンレス箔、アルミニウム箔、ニッケル箔等如何なる金属箔も使用することが出来るが、電解銅箔や圧延銅箔等の銅箔が好ましく用いられる。これら金属箔の厚みは5〜50μmが好ましく、9〜18μmがより好ましい。また、これらの金属箔の表面は接着性を向上させるための粗面化処理や防錆処理が施されていてもよい。
前述の如く、非熱可塑性ポリイミド(PI)とは、400℃未満の温度で熱圧着性を示さないポリイミドを言い、例えばDSC(示差走査熱量計)によるガラス転移温度(Tg)が350℃以上のポリイミドを言う。
本発明の積層体のうち、金属箔上に非熱可塑性ポリイミド層と本発明の熱可塑性ポリイミド層とがこの順で積層形成された積層体は、例えば、PI前駆体溶液を金属箔上に塗布、乾燥してPI前駆体層を形成し、さらにこのPI前駆体層の表面にTPI前駆体溶液を塗布、乾燥してTPI前駆体層を形成させ、しかる後、PI前駆体及びTPI前駆体を熱硬化してイミド化することにより製造することができる。
また、熱イミド化の為の加熱温度は150℃〜500℃が好ましい。熱硬化(イミド化)する際の雰囲気としては、窒素ガス等の不活性ガス雰囲気下で行うことが好ましいが、空気雰囲気や真空中で行うこともできる。
本発明の積層体のTPI層(本発明の熱可塑性ポリイミド層)の厚みは0.1〜1.4μmであることが好ましく、0.4〜0.8μmがさらに好ましい。TPI層の厚みが0.1μm以上であると、この層を接着層として使用したときの接着強度を十分に確保することができ、1.4μmを超えると接着層の熱収縮が大きくなり、積層体がカールしやすくなる場合がある。
本発明の積層体は、そのTPI層(本発明の熱可塑性ポリイミド層)を接着層として利用することにより、他の基板用材料等の被接着体と複合化してプリント配線板用基板等の積層板を製造することができる。
さらに、本発明の積層体を多層プリント配線板用基板の表層部に使用し、多層プリント配線板用基板とすることも可能である。
また、圧力としては、バッチプレスの場合、20〜80kg/cm2が好ましい。連続プレスの場合は50〜150kg/cm2が好ましい。
なお、熱圧着する際の雰囲気としては、窒素ガス等の不活性ガス雰囲気下で行うことが好ましいが、空気雰囲気や真空中で行うこともできる。
(1)ガラス転移温度(Tg)の評価
作製したフィルムのガラス転移温度Tg(℃)をサーモメカニカルアナライザー(TMA:TAインスツルメント社製、TMA 2940型)を用いて測定した。
積層体におけるTPI層同士の接着力を、テンシロンテスター(インテスコ社製、精密万能材料試験機2020型)を用いて測定した。
測定に際しては、得られた両面基板を幅10mm、長さ100mmに切断して試験片を作製し、粘着剤が両面に塗布された両面粘着テープを用いて、試験片の一方の金属箔面をアルミニウム板に固定した。そして、アルミニウム板に固定されていない側の金属箔の側の絶縁層のPI層を180°方向に50mm/分間の速度で引っ張り、他方の絶縁層から剥離して接着強度(剥離強度)を求め、以下の基準で評価した。
○:接着強度7N/cm以上
×:接着強度7N/cm未満
合成したTPI前駆体溶液の25℃における粘度を、回転型粘度計(東京計器社製、TVE−20H形)を用いて測定した。
以下の説明において使用した略語は、以下のとおりである。
BPDA:3,3’,4,4’−ビフェニルテトラカルボン酸二無水物
PA:無水フタル酸
BAPP:2,2−ビス[4−(4−アミノフェノキシ)フェニル]プロパン
4,4’ODA:4,4’−オキシジアニリン
PDA:p−フェニレンジアミン
JM230:ハンツマン社製ジェファーミンD230※1
JM400:ハンツマン社製ジェファーミンD400※2

NMP:N−メチル−2−ピロリドン
三つ口フラスコに窒素ガス気流下で、4,4’ODA30.03g(0.15mol)、PDA91.92g(0.85mol)、及びNMP3329gを採取し、このフラスコを氷水中に入れて、内容物を30分間攪拌した。次いで、BPDA294.22g(1.00mol)を加え、40℃の湯浴中で1時間攪拌を行い、固形分濃度11.1質量%のポリアミック酸からなる均一な溶液を得た。
三つ口フラスコに窒素ガス気流下で、BAPP389.99g(0.95mol)、JM400を20.00g(0.05mol)、及びNMP2113gを採取し、このフラスコを氷水中に入れて、内容物を30分間攪拌した。次いで、BPDA294.22g(1.00mol)を加え、40℃の湯浴中で1時間攪拌を行い、固形分濃度25.0質量%のポリアミック酸からなる均一な溶液を得た。25℃での粘度は9.7Pa・sであった。これをTPI前駆体溶液Aとする。
三つ口フラスコに窒素ガス気流下で、BAPP402.31g(0.98mol)、JM230を4.60g(0.02mol)、及びNMP2103gを採取し、このフラスコを氷水中に入れて、内容物を30分間攪拌した。次いで、BPDA294.22g(1.00mol)を加え、40℃の湯浴中で1時間攪拌を行い、固形分濃度25.0質量%のポリアミック酸からなる均一な溶液を得た。25℃での粘度は15.3Pa・sであった。これをTPI前駆体溶液Bとする。
三つ口フラスコに窒素ガス気流下で、BAPP410.52g(1.00mol)とNMP2114gを採取し、このフラスコを氷水中に入れて、内容物を30分間攪拌した。次いで、BPDA294.22g(1.00mol)を加え、40℃の湯浴中で1時間攪拌を行い、固形分濃度25.0質量%のポリアミック酸からなる均一な溶液を得た。25℃での粘度は17.9Pa・sであった。これをTPI前駆体溶液Cとする。
三つ口フラスコに窒素ガス気流下で、4,4’ODA200.24g(1.00mol)とNMP1483gを採取し、このフラスコを氷水中に入れて、内容物を30分間攪拌した。次いで、BPDA294.22g(1.00mol)を加え、40℃の湯浴中で1時間攪拌を行い、固形分濃度25.0質量%のポリアミック酸からなる均一な溶液を得た。これをTPI前駆体溶液Dとする。
厚み12μmの電解銅箔(古河電気工業製 F2−WS)上に、前記PI前駆体溶液を熱硬化後の被膜の厚みが11.7μmになるようにアプリケータを用いて均一に塗布し、130℃で10分間乾燥した。次いで、塗布面に表−2に示すTPI前駆体溶液を熱イミド化後の被膜が表−2に示す所定の厚みになるようにバーコータを用いて塗布し、130℃で10分間乾燥し、銅箔にPI及びTPI前駆体が積層された積層体を得た。なお、各TPI前駆体溶液は、NMPでポリアミック酸濃度5.0質量%に希釈して用いた。
得られた積層体を2枚用いて、TPI層同士が向かい合うように、熱間ロール圧合機にて320℃、120kg/cm2、ライン速度1.5m/minの条件で連続的に熱圧着することにより接着一体化し、両面基板を得た。
これらの両面基板の外接着強度の評価結果を表−2に示す。
実施例1,2及び比較例1,2の結果から、次のことが分かる。
前記式(1)〜(3)で表される構成単位をすべて有する熱可塑性ポリイミドを用いた実施例1、2では、TPI層の膜厚が薄くても接着性が良好であった。
これに対し、比較例1,2では接着性が悪く、特に、比較例2ではTPI層の膜厚が厚いにも関わらず、接着性が悪かった。
Claims (5)
- 下記式(1)〜(3)で表される構成単位をすべて有するポリイミドであって、かつ、下記式(2)で表される構成単位と下記式(3)で表される構成単位のモル比が1/99〜99/1であり、ガラス転移温度(Tg)が180〜240℃である熱可塑性ポリイミド。
- 金属箔に、2層以上のポリイミドを含む層が積層された積層体であって、該ポリイミドを含む層の少なくとも1層が請求項1に記載の熱可塑性ポリイミドを含む層である積層体。
- 金属箔に、非熱可塑性ポリイミド層及び熱可塑性ポリイミド層がこの順で積層された積層体であって、該熱可塑性ポリイミド層が請求項1に記載の熱可塑性ポリイミドを含む層である請求項2に記載の積層体。
- 請求項2又は請求項3に記載の積層体を含むプリント配線板用基板。
- 請求項3に記載の積層体を、熱可塑性ポリイミド層面を接着面として、他の被接着体と熱圧着してなるプリント配線板用基板。
