1実施例において、この発明は、低弾性率のHNP組成物から生成された内側コア層、高弾性率のHNP組成物から生成された外側コア層、および単一層のカバーを有するゴルフボールを実現する。この実施例の具体的な側面では、内側コア層の直径は下限が0.500または0.750または1.000インチで上限が1.550または1.570または1.580インチの範囲であり;外側コア層の厚さは下限が0.020または0.025または0.032インチで上限が0.310または0.440または0.560インチの範囲であり;カバーの厚さは下限が0.020または0.025または0.030インチで上限が0.065または0.080または0.090インチの範囲である。この実施例の他の側面によれば、内側コア層のAtti圧縮は80以下、または70以下、または65以下である。この実施例のさらに他の側面によれば、内側コア層の組成物の低弾性率のHNPの弾性率は下限が1000または5000または10000psiで上限が17000または28000または30000または50000psiの範囲であり、外側コア層の組成物の高弾性率のHNPの弾性率は下限が45000または55000または60000psiで上限が72000または75000または100000または150000psiの範囲である。
他の実施例において、この発明は、低弾性率のHNP組成物から生成された内側コア層、高弾性率のHNP組成物から生成された外側コア層、および二重カバーを有するゴルフボールを実現する。この実施例の具体的な側面では、内側コア層の直径は下限が0.500または0.750または1.000インチで上限が1.550または1.570または1.580インチの範囲であり;外側コア層の厚さは下限が0.020または0.025または0.032インチで上限が0.310または0.440または0.560インチの範囲であり;二重カバーの全体の厚さは下限が0.020または0.025または0.060インチで上限が0.075または0.090または0.110インチの範囲である。この実施例の他の側面によれば、内側コア層のAtti圧縮は80以下、または70以下、または65以下である。この実施例のさらに他の側面によれば、内側コア層の組成物の低弾性率のHNPの弾性率は下限が1000または5000または10000psiで上限が17000または28000または30000または50000psiの範囲であり、外側コア層の組成物の高弾性率のHNPの弾性率は下限が45000または55000または60000psiで上限が72000または75000または100000または150000psiの範囲である。
この発明によれば、いくつかの実施例において、低弾性率のHNPベースの層および高弾性率のHNPベースの層を採用することにより、通常のゴムベースの層が不要になることがわかった。ただし、この発明のいくつかの実施例において通常のゴムベースの層を含むことが好ましいかもしれないことがわかる。

1実施例において、この発明は、コア、コアのまわりに巻かれた通常のエラストマー性の糸、および通常のゴルフボールカバー材料、例えばアイオノマー樹脂、そのブレンド(具体的にはSurlyn(商標)アイオノマー樹脂)、熱硬化性ポリウレタンおよびポリ尿素、熱可塑性ポリウレタンおよびポリ尿素、(メタ)アクリル酸、熱可塑性ゴムポリマー、ポリウレタン、および合成または天然加硫ゴム、例えばバラタから製造されたカバーを有する糸巻ゴルフボールを実現する。
下記の表のHNPはこの発明の低弾性率のHNPおよび/または高弾性率のHNPとしてとくに有益であることがわかった。
**硬度はASTM D2240により測定した。
Claims (12)
- (a)低弾性率のHNP(高度に中和された酸ポリマー)組成物から生成され外側球状表面を具備し、直径が1.27cm〜3.18cm(0.5インチ〜1.25インチ)の内側コア層であって、当該低弾性率のHNP組成物は、弾性率が6.897Mpa(1000psi)から344.828Mpa(50000psi)の高度に中和されたエチレン/アクリル(またはメタクリル)酸/アルキルアクリレート(またはアルキルメタクリレート)コポリマーを有するものと、
(b)高弾性率のHNP組成物から生成され内側球状表面を具備し、厚さが0.318cm〜1.334cm(0.125インチ〜0.525インチ)の外側コア層であって、当該高弾性率のHNP組成物は、弾性率が310.448Mpa(45000psi)から1034.483Mpa(150000psi)の高度に中和されたエチレン/アクリル(またはメタクリル)酸コポリマーを有するものと、
(c)カバーとを有し、
上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の上記高度に中和されたコポリマーの弾性率は、上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の上記高度に中和されたコポリマーの弾性率より少なくとも10%小さいことを特徴とするゴルフボール。 - 上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の上記高度に中和されたコポリマーの弾性率は、上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の上記高度に中和されたコポリマーの弾性率より少なくとも25%小さい請求項1記載のゴルフボール。
- 上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の上記高度に中和されたコポリマーの弾性率は6.897Mpa(1000psi)から241.379Mpa(35000psi)である請求項1記載のゴルフボール。
- 上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の上記高度に中和されたコポリマーの弾性率は、上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の上記高度に中和されたコポリマーの弾性率より少なくとも25%小さい請求項3記載のゴルフボール。
- 上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率は6.897Mpa(1000psi)から344.828Mpa(50000psi)であり、かつ、上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率は310.448Mpa(45000psi)から1034.483Mpa(150000psi)である請求項1記載のゴルフボール。
- 上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率は、上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率より少なくとも25%小さい請求項5記載のゴルフボール。
- 上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の水蒸気透過率は8g−mil/100in2/日以下(すなわち3.2g−mm/m2日以下)である請求項1記載のゴルフボール。
- (a)高弾性率のHNP組成物から生成され外側球状表面を具備し、直径が1.27cm〜3.18cm(0.5インチ〜1.25インチ)の内側コア層であって、当該高弾性率のHNP組成物は、弾性率が172.414Mpa(25000psi)から1034.483Mpa(150000psi)の高度に中和されたエチレン/アクリル(またはメタクリル)酸コポリマーを有するものと、
(b)低弾性率のHNP組成物から生成され内側球状表面を具備し、厚さが0.318cm〜1.334cm(0.125インチ〜0.525インチ)の外側コア層であって、当該低弾性率のHNP組成物は、弾性率が6.897Mpa(1000psi)から344.828Mpa(50000psi)の高度に中和されたエチレン/アクリル(またはメタクリル)酸/アルキルアクリレート(またはアルキルメタクリレート)コポリマーを有するものと、
(c)カバーとを有し、
上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の上記高度に中和されたコポリマーの弾性率は、上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の上記高度に中和されたコポリマーの弾性率より少なくとも10%小さいことを特徴とするゴルフボール。 - 上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率は172.414Mpa(25000psi)から1034.483Mpa(150000psi)であり、かつ、上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率は6.897Mpa(1000psi)から344.828Mpa(50000psi)である請求項8記載のゴルフボール。
- 上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率は172.414Mpa(25000psi)から517.241Mpa(75000psi)であり、かつ、上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率は6.897Mpa(1000psi)から344.828Mpa(50000psi)である請求項8記載のゴルフボール。
- 上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率は、上記高弾性率のHNP組成物の弾性率より少なくとも25%小さい請求項10記載のゴルフボール。
- 上記低弾性率のHNP組成物の水蒸気透過率は8g−mil/100in2/日以下(すなわち3.2g−mm/m2日以下)である請求項8記載のゴルフボール。
