a)ウォールフロー型フィルタの流体通路を垂直方向に配向し、これにより、第1の端面が下側に位置し、第2の端面が上側に位置するようにし、
b)ウォールフロー型フィルタの下側端面を所定量の被覆組成物内に浸漬し、
c)上側端面の流出通路の開口に負圧を印加し、被覆組成物の総量を下側端面の流入通路の開口を介して流入通路及び流出通路内へ吸い込み、
望ましい被覆濃度及び被覆高さに対応して所定量の被覆組成物を選択する
ステップを有する方法により解決される。
Claims (17)
- パティキュレートフィルタが、開放された多孔性の材料から製造されており、長さLを備えた円筒状の形状を有しており、流入端面から流出端面へ多数の流体通路を有しており、該流体通路が交互に閉じられている、ウォールフロー型フィルタに被覆組成物を被覆するための方法において、
a)ウォールフロー型フィルタの流体通路を垂直方向に配向し、これにより、第1の端面が下側に位置し、第2の端面が上側に位置するようにし、
b)ウォールフロー型フィルタの下側端面を所定量の被覆組成物内へ浸漬し、
c)上側端面の流出通路の開口に時間的に連続して2つの段階で負圧を印加し、被覆組成物の総量を下側端面の流入通路の開口を介して流入通路及び流出通路内へ吸い込み、
望ましい被覆濃度及び被覆高さに対応して所定量の被覆組成物を選択することを特徴とする、ウォールフロー型フィルタに被覆組成物を被覆するための方法。 - ウォールフロー型フィルタが、10〜50μmまでの平均の細孔直径を備えた、30〜95%までの多孔性を有しているようにする、請求項1記載の方法。
- コージエライト、炭化ケイ素又はチタン酸アルミニウムからパティキュレートフィルタを製造する、請求項2記載の方法。
- 所定量の被覆組成物を、平坦な底部を有する皿内に挿入し、該皿の直径が、少なくともウォールフロー型フィルタの最大横断面直径に対応するようにし、ウォールフロー型フィルタを、下側端面と皿底部との間のギャップが0.5〜2mmまでとなるような深さに、被覆組成物内へ浸漬する、請求項1記載の方法。
- 被覆組成物の動的な粘性を、0.01〜0.5Pa・sまでの間にする、請求項1記載の方法。
- 上側端面に印加される負圧を、低い値から開始して吸込み時間の増大に伴い高める、請求項4記載の方法。
- 第2段階の負圧を第1段階の負圧よりも高くする、請求項6記載の方法。
- 第1段階では負圧を100〜200Paまでの間に調整し、第2段階では負圧を500〜5000Paまでに高める、請求項7記載の方法。
- 第1段階では1〜10秒までの継続時間、第2段階では10〜50秒までの継続時間、負圧をウォールフロー型フィルタの上側端面に印加する、請求項8記載の方法。
- 最後に、高められた温度で被覆層を乾燥し、次いで300〜600℃までの間の温度でか焼する、請求項1記載の方法。
- 被覆組成物として微粒子状の固形物の懸濁液を用いる請求項1記載の方法。
- 微粒子状の固形物の形の被覆組成物に、10〜400m2/gまでの間の比表面及び2〜50μmまでの間の粒子サイズを有するパウダ状の担体材料を含有させ、該担体材料に白金属金属のグループから成る触媒活性の貴金属を被着する、請求項11記載の方法。
- 被覆組成物に、触媒活性の別の成分の可溶性の前駆体を付加的に含有させる、請求項12記載の方法。
- 最後に、高められた温度で被覆層を乾燥し、次いで300〜600℃までの温度でか焼し、触媒活性の成分の前駆体を最終的な形状に変化させる、請求項13記載の方法。
- 被覆組成物の微粒子状の固形物が、1μmよりも小さな平均粒子直径を有しているようにする、請求項8記載の方法。
- 被覆組成物の微粒子状の固形物が、少なくとも第1の、1μmより小さい粒子サイズ分布最大値と、第2の、1μmよりも大きい粒子サイズ分布最大値とを有する、複数様式の粒子サイズ分布を有している、請求項8記載の方法。
- 被覆組成物として、のちの被覆材料の前駆体の水溶液を用い、該前駆体を、被覆に続いて乾燥及びか焼により本来の被覆材料に変化させる、請求項1記載の方法。
