Description
<正極の作製>
正極活物質(マンガン酸リチウム):94質量%、カーボンブラック:3質量%、およびPVDF:3質量%からなる正極合剤に、適量のN−メチル−2−ピロリドン(NMP)を添加し、十分に混合して正極合剤含有スラリーを調製した。このスラリーを、厚みが15μmのアルミニウム箔の片面に一定厚みで塗布し、110±10℃で乾燥した後、プレス処理を施して、厚みが32μmの正極合剤層を形成し、その後正極合剤層の面積が30mm×50mmとなるように裁断して、正極を得た。
カーボンブラック:90質量%、およびポリビニルピロリドン:10質量%を水に分散させて、カーボン含有層形成用スラリーを調製した。このスラリーを、厚みが10μmの銅箔の片面に一定厚みで塗布し、80℃で乾燥して、厚みが10μmのカーボン含有層を形成した。
前記の正極と負極とを、PE製微多孔膜セパレータ(幅40.5mm、厚み0.0018mm)を介して重ね合わせて積層電極体とし、この積層電極体を、50mm×110mmのアルミニウムラミネートシート外装体に収容し、非水電解質(エチレンカーボネートとメチルエチルカーボネートとの体積比1:2の混合溶媒に、LiPF6を1.0Mの濃度で溶解した溶液)を注入した後、外装体を封止して、ラミネート非水二次電池(電池容量:10mAh)を得た。
負極集電体である銅箔表面にカーボン含有層を形成しない以外は、実施例1と同様にして負極を作製しようとしたが、プレス処理の段階で負極合剤層が集電体(銅箔)から剥がれたため、非水二次電池を作製することができなかった。
カーボン含有層形成用スラリーに代えて、公知の導電性ペースト(黒鉛:90質量部およびケイ酸カリウム10質量部を含有)を銅箔の片面に塗布して、黒鉛:90質量%およびケイ酸カリウム:10質量%を含有する層を形成し、この表面に実施例1と同様にして電極合剤層を形成して負極を作製した。そして、この負極を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にしてラミネート非水二次電池を作製した。
負極合剤含有スラリーの調製に際し、リチウムチタン複合酸化物(スピネル構造のLi4Ti5O12)を比表面積が4m2/gのもの(平均粒径20μm)に変更し、負極合剤層の厚みを60μmに変更した以外は、実施例1と同様にして負極を作製し、この負極を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にしてラミネート非水二次電池を作製した。
実施例1および比較例2、3の電池について、0.2Cの電流値(2mA)で2.65Vまで定電流充電した後、2.65Vの定電圧で充電する定電流定電圧充電(総充電時間6時間)を行い、所定の電流値で1.0Vまで放電させて、放電容量を測定した。なお、放電電流値は、0.2C(2mA)、1C(10mA)、10C(100mA)および20C(200mA)とした。そして、各放電容量を0.2Cでの放電容量で除し、百分率で表して、各放電条件での容量維持率を算出した。より大きな電流値での容量維持率が大きいほど、電池の出力特性が優れていることを意味している。
実施例1および比較例2、3の電池について、10Cの電流値(100mA)で2.9Vまで定電流充電を行い、その後、10Cの電流値で1Vまで放電させる一連の操作を1サイクルとして1000サイクル目まで充放電を繰り返し、各サイクルでの放電容量を測定した。すなわち、この充放電サイクル特性評価での結果が良好であるということは、電池の長期信頼性に優れていることを意味している。また、前記の充電条件は高負荷であることから、この充放電サイクル特性評価での結果が良好であるということは、電池が短時間で充電可能であること、すなわち、電池の急速充電特性が良好であることも意味している。

Claims (3)
- 正極、負極、セパレータおよび非水電解質を備えた非水二次電池であって、
前記正極および前記負極のいずれか一方は、集電体の少なくとも片面に、リチウムチタン複合酸化物とバインダとを少なくとも含有する電極合剤層がカーボン含有層を介して形成された電極であり、
前記電極合剤層における前記リチウムチタン複合酸化物は、比表面積が5m2/g以上であり、
前記電極合剤層は、バインダとしてフッ素樹脂を含み、かつ前記電極合剤層におけるバインダの量が、前記リチウムチタン複合酸化物100質量部に対して、3〜10質量部であり、
前記カーボン含有層は、カーボンを80質量%以上、およびバインダとしてポリビニルピロリドンを20質量%以下で含んでおり、かつ厚みが0.5〜10μmであることを特徴とする非水二次電池。 - 前記電極合剤層の厚みが40μm以下である請求項1に記載の非水二次電池。
- 前記電極は、集電体の少なくとも片面に、カーボンおよびポリビニルピロリドンを含むカーボン含有層形成用組成物を塗布する工程と、
カーボン含有層表面またはカーボン含有層形成用組成物の未乾燥塗膜表面に、リチウムチタン複合酸化物およびバインダを含む電極合剤層形成用組成物を塗布する工程とを経て作製される請求項1または2に記載の非水二次電池。
