本発明の有機発光層の電子輸送層94を形成する際に使用するための好ましい薄膜形成材料は、オキシン自体のキレート(一般には8-キノリノール又は8-ヒドロキシキノリンとも呼ばれる)を含む、金属キレート型オキシノイド化合物である。このような化合物は電子を注入して輸送するのを助け、高い性能レベルを示し、そして薄膜形態で容易に加工される。オキシノイド化合物の例は前に挙げた通りである。

Claims (2)
- カラーOLEDディスプレイ・デバイスであって、
発光画素アレイと、OLEDを駆動信号で選択的に駆動する手段とを含み;
a)該発光画素アレイの各画素が、赤色、緑色及び青色のOLEDと、該赤色、緑色及び青色のOLEDによって画定されたガモットに対して該ディスプレイ・デバイスのガモットを拡張する1つ以上の付加的な有色OLEDとを有しており、該付加的なOLEDの輝度効率又は経時輝度安定性が、該赤色、緑色及び青色のOLEDのうちの少なくとも1つの輝度効率又は経時輝度安定性よりも高く;そして、
b)該OLEDを駆動信号で選択的に駆動する手段により、電力使用量全体を低減し、かつ、該ディスプレイの寿命を延ばすに際し、該駆動信号が、
画素内部の異なる色の任意の3つのOLEDの組み合わせによって画定することができる全ての可能なサブガモットを、平均効率に従って優先順位付けし;
各所望の色を形成するために使用することができる最低優先順位のサブガモットを画定する、各画素の該3つのOLEDに必要とされる強度を計算し;そして
該最低優先順位のサブガモットを形成しない、任意の残りのより高効率のOLEDを含む付加的なサブガモットを、該最低優先順位のサブガモットを形成するOLEDの組み合わせに逐次加え、そして、該加えられたOLEDと、各所望の色を形成するために使用することができる前記付加的なサブガモットを画定するOLEDのうちの他の2つとの組み合わせに必要とされる強度を計算する、ステップを含むことを特徴とする、
カラーOLEDディスプレイ・デバイス。 - 該OLEDのうちの1つ又は2つ以上が、白色発光材料をパターニングすることにより形成され、かつ、該OLEDのうちの1つ又は2つ以上の色が、カラーフィルターを使用して生成される、請求項1に記載のOLEDディスプレイ・デバイス。
