Claims (20)
- 液滴射出デバイスにおいて、
加圧アクチュエータを含むポンピングチャンバ、
壁を有する液体チャネルであって、前記ポンピングチャンバに隣接して配置されたチャンネル、及び
前記壁から前記チャネル内に突き出している、間隔をおいて配された複数の突起、
を備え、
前記突起が該突起間の間隔の中への前記液体の侵入を実質的に防止し、該突起が、前記チャンネル内の流抵抗を減少させるために配置されている、
ことを特徴とするデバイス。 - 前記加圧アクチュエータが圧電材料を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記チャネルの少なくとも一部がシリコン材料を含む基板内に画成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記突起のそれぞれが疎水性被膜を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記疎水性被膜の厚さが約100オングストロームから約750オングストロームであることを特徴とする請求項4に記載のデバイス。
- 前記チャネル内の液滴が前記突起上で約150°から約176°の接触角をなすことを特徴とする請求項4に記載のデバイス。
- 前記疎水性被膜がフルオロポリマーを含むことを特徴とする請求項4に記載のデバイス。
- 前記壁における前記突起のそれぞれの横断面積が終端における横断面積より小さいことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記突起のそれぞれに前記壁から終端にかけてテーパがかけられており、前記終端が0.3μmより小さい最大横寸法を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 直近突起間の間隔が、終端において縁対縁で測定して、約1μmより小さいことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記突起のそれぞれの高さが、前記壁に垂直に測定して、約2μmから約35μmであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記突起が突き出している前記壁に画成された開口をさらに有し、前記開口が真空源と流体流通可能な態様で連結されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記チャネルがノズル開口の近傍領域から廃液を取り去るように構成された廃液制御システムの一部であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記突起の密度が約6.0×109突起/m2から約3.0×1011突起/m2であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記チャネルが積層されたプレートで画成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 液体射出方法において、
液滴射出デバイスであって、
加圧アクチュエータを含むポンピングチャンバ、
壁を有する液体チャネルであって、前記ポンピングチャンバに隣接して配置されたチャンネル、及び
前記壁から前記チャネル内に突き出している、間隔をおいて配された複数の突起、
を備え、
前記突起が該突起間の間隔の中への前記液体の侵入を実質的に防止し、該突起が、前記チャンネル内の流抵抗を減少させるために配置されている、
液滴射出デバイスを提供する工程、
前記チャネルに前記液体を供給する工程、及び
前記加圧アクチュエータを使用することによって前記チャネルと流体流通可能な態様で連結されているノズルを通して前記液体を射出する工程、
を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記液体が約10〜60ダイン/cm(10〜60×10−3N/m)の表面張力を有することを特徴とする請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記液体が約1から50センチポアズ(1〜50×10−9Pa・秒)の粘度を有することを特徴とする請求項16に記載の方法。
- 液体を脱ガスする方法において、
ポンピングチャンバに隣接して配置されたチャネルであって、該チャンネルが壁を有し、該壁から、間隔をおいて配された複数の突起が終端で前記チャネル内に延び、前記突起は該突起間の間隔の中への前記液体の侵入を実質的に防止し、該突起が、前記チャンネル内の流抵抗を減少させるために配置されている、チャネルを提供する工程、
前記壁と前記突起の前記終端の間の領域と通じる態様で連結されている真空源を提供する工程、及び
前記チャネルに前記液体を導入する工程、
を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記泡の直径が5μmより小さいことを特徴とする請求項19に記載の方法。
