Description
本出願は、(i)2006年3月3日に出願された米国仮出願第60/778,777号、(ii)2006年8月2日に出願された米国仮出願第60/821,181号、及び、(iii)2007年3月2日に出願された米国通常出願第11/681,352号に基づく優先権を主張するものであり、上記出願の各々は参照することにより本明細書において完全に示されたものとして本明細書の一部を構成する。
Claims (6)
- 光ファイバと、
デバイス基板上に設けられており、前記光ファイバと光学的に連結する光学デバイスと、
前記デバイス基板が取付けられ、実質的に平坦な上面を有する回路基盤と、
前記光学デバイスと前記回路基盤との間の少なくとも一つの電気接続体と、
を具備し、
前記デバイス基板には、前記光ファイバを受容する溝であって前記光ファイバの基端を位置決めして前記光ファイバと前記光学デバイスとの間の光学的連結を確立する溝が設けられており、
前記光ファイバにおける、基端、又は前記基端の近傍の第1ファイバ・セグメントが、前記溝内において前記デバイス基板に固定され、
前記光ファイバにおける末端側の第2ファイバ・セグメントが前記回路基盤に固定され、
前記第2ファイバ・セグメント上の緩衝体であって、前記緩衝体が接着剤により前記回路基盤に固定されることにより前記第2ファイバ・セグメントを前記回路基盤に固定する緩衝体を、前記光ファイバが具備し、
前記緩衝体上に捲縮された捲縮チューブであって、前記捲縮チューブが前記接着剤により前記回路基盤に固定されることにより前記緩衝体を前記回路基盤に固定する、捲縮チューブを、前記光ファイバが更に具備する、光学装置。 - 前記デバイス基板と前記第2ファイバ・セグメントとの間において前記光ファイバの一部分の下方にある前記回路基盤上のファイバ支持部材を更に具備し、前記第1ファイバ・セグメント及び第2ファイバ・セグメントの間における前記光ファイバの少なくとも一部分が前記ファイバ支持部材に対して固定される、請求項1に記載の光学装置。
- 前記デバイス基板に設けられた前記溝の少なくとも一部分の上方に位置決めされると共に、前記デバイス基板に固定されたファイバ保持体であって、前記第1ファイバ・セグメントを前記溝内において前記デバイス基板に固定するファイバ保持体を更に具備する、請求項1又は2に記載の光学装置。
- 前記光学デバイスと前記光ファイバの基端との間において屈折率整合材料を更に具備する、
又は、
前記光学デバイス、前記デバイス基板、並びに、前記第1及び第2ファイバ・セグメントを実質的に覆う封入材を更に具備する、
又は、
前記回路基盤に固定されたハウジングであって、前記回路基盤における、前記光学デバイス、前記デバイス基板及び前記第1及び第2ファイバ・セグメントを含む領域を実質的に包囲する壁部を有するハウジングを更に具備する、
請求項1ないし3のいずれかに記載の光学装置。 - 前記デバイス基板に固定された前記第1ファイバ・セグメントと、前記回路基盤に固定された前記第2ファイバ・セグメントとの間における前記回路基盤上に設けられたファイバ支持部材を更に具備し、
前記光ファイバの少なくとも一部分は、前記ファイバ支持部材に固定され、
前記光ファイバは、 前記光ファイバの第2セグメント上に設けられた緩衝体と、
前記緩衝体上に捲縮された捲縮チューブと、
を有する、請求項1ないし4のいずれかに記載の光学装置。 - 前記回路基盤上に突出部、又は前記回路基盤内に凹所が設けられ、
前記突出部又は凹所は、前記前記光ファイバの第2セグメントの近傍に位置決めされ、且つ、前記捲縮チューブの少なくとも一部と共に接着剤により少なくとも部分的に覆われる、請求項5に記載の光学装置。
