Description
図1に示すグリーン成形体70は、原料組成物を押出成形することによって得られたものである。図1の(a)に示すように、グリーン成形体70は多数の貫通孔70aが略平行に配置された円柱体である。貫通孔70aの断面形状は、図1の(b)に示すように正方形である。これらの複数の貫通孔70aは、グリーン成形体70において、端面から見て、正方形配置、すなわち、貫通孔70aの中心軸が、正方形の頂点にそれぞれ位置するように配置されている。貫通孔70aの断面の正方形のサイズは、例えば、一辺0.8〜2.5mmとすることができる。貫通孔70aの一端を適宜封孔した後、グリーン成形体70を所定の温度で焼成することによってハニカム構造体が製造される。
図2を参照しながら、本発明に係る焼成炉の実施形態について説明する。図2に示す焼成炉10は、グリーン成形体70を収容する炉本体1と、炉本体1内のバーナー(第1の加熱手段)1aと、炉本体1から排出される気体に含まれる炭素含有物質を燃焼させるアフターバーナー(第2の加熱手段)2と、炉本体1の気体出口1bとアフターバーナー2とを連通する第1の配管P1と、アフターバーナー2と炉本体1の気体入口1cとを連通する第2の配管P2と、第1の配管P1の途中に配設された流量調整弁5とを備える。
焼成炉10を用いてグリーン成形体70を焼成してハニカムフィルタ構造体(焼成体)を得る工程を備える焼成体の製造方法について説明する。本実施形態に係る方法は、原料調製工程、成形工程、第1の加熱工程及び第2の加熱工程を備える。
図1に示す形状のグリーン成形体を準備し、第1の加熱工程後の成形体内に残存している炭素含有物質の量を確認する試験を行った。表1に本試験で準備したグリーン成形体の原料組成を示す。なお、表中のPOAAEはポリオキシアルキレンアルキルエーテルであり、ユニルーブ(登録商標、日油株式会社製)を使用した。
Claims (4)
- ハニカム形状のグリーン成形体から当該形状の焼成体を製造する方法であって、
無機化合物、有機バインダ及び溶媒を含有する混合物を調製する原料調製工程と、
前記混合物を成形して前記グリーン成形体を得る成形工程と、
前記グリーン成形体が収容された炉内に酸素濃度1〜5体積%の気体を導入しながら、前記炉内の温度を昇温して炭素含有物質が残存した成形体を得る第1の加熱工程と、
前記第1の加熱工程後、前記炉内に酸素濃度1〜5体積%の気体を導入することなく、前記炉内の温度を更に昇温して焼成体を得る第2の加熱工程と、
を備え、
酸素が存在する900℃の雰囲気下に前記第1の加熱工程後の前記成形体を放置したとき、当該成形体の中心部の温度が炉内の雰囲気の温度よりも20℃以上高くなるように、前記第1の加熱工程の処理条件を設定する方法。 - 前記炉内の雰囲気温度が500〜900℃に到達した時点で、前記炉内への酸素濃度1〜5体積%の気体の導入を停止し、前記炉内の酸素濃度コントロールを終了する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 成形体を収容する炉本体と、
前記炉本体内の雰囲気を加熱する第1の加熱手段と、
炭素含有物質を含む気体を加熱して当該物質を燃焼させる第2の加熱手段と、
前記炉本体の気体出口と前記第2の加熱手段とを連通する第1の配管と、
前記第2の加熱手段と前記炉本体の気体入口とを連通する第2の配管と、
前記炉本体内の気体に含まれる炭素含有物質の量に応じて前記第1の配管を通じて前記第2の加熱手段に供給される気体の流量を制御する手段と、
を備える焼成炉。 - 前記炉本体内の気体に含まれる炭素含有物質の量を測定する手段を更に備える、請求項3に記載の焼成炉。
