Claims (4)
- カップリング装置(11)であって、クラッチキャビティ(39)を定める回転可能なハウジング(13、15)と、前記クラッチキャビティ(39)内に設けられて、前記ハウジング(13、15)とともに回転可能なように固設される第一クラッチ部材(31)と、出力部(35)とともに回転可能なように固設される第二クラッチ部材(33)を含むクラッチアセンブリ(29)を有し、前記ハウジング(13、15)は圧力チャンバ(43)を定め、クラッチアプライ部材(41)を前記圧力チャンバ(43)内に配置して、前記第一(31)及び第二(33)のクラッチ部材を前記圧力チャンバ(43)内の加圧流体の存在に応じてトルクを伝達する関係となるように付勢させるように操作可能とし、前記カップリング装置(11)は前記加圧流体の源(47、49)と、入力の変化に応じて前記圧力チャンバ(43)内の流体圧力を変化させるように操作可能な制御弁アセンブリ(69)を含み、前記ハウジング(13、15)は外側に円筒形状面(60)を定めるハブ部(61)を有し、前記ハウジング(13、15)は前記圧力チャンバ(43)から前記外側の円筒形状面(60)に形成される第一ポート(59)まで流通させる高圧流体用の流路(53)を定め、さらに、
(a)前記ハブ部(61)によって定められる前記外側の円筒形状面(60)を覆う関係となるように、内側に円筒形状面(85)を定める固設型のプレナム部材(17、117)を有し、
(b)前記プレナム部材(17、117)は高圧流体用の流路(71)を定めて、前記外側の円筒形状面(60)に形成される第一ポート(59)と流通する、前記内側の円筒形状面(85)に形成される第二ポート(77)から、前記制御弁アセンブリ(69)まで流通させ、
(c)前記内側の円筒形状面(85)内に、前記第二ポート(77)の近くに、環状の圧力領域を定めるように、第一の環状のシール部材(63、163)を配置し、
(d)前記第一の環状のシール部材(63、163)はシールキャビティ(73、173)内に配置されて、前記シールキャビティの径方向の大きさよりも大きな径方向の高さHと、前記シールキャビティの軸方向の幅よりも小さな軸方向の幅Wを有し、この際、前記高さHと前記幅Wは、前記第一の環状のシール部材(63、163)が、約2.5:1〜約5:1の範囲内にH/W比を有するように定められることを特徴とするカップリング装置。 - 前記H/W比は、約3:1〜約4:1の範囲内にあることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のカップリング装置。
- 前記内側の円筒形状面(85)内には、前記第一の環状のシール部材(63、163)から前記第二ポート(77)の軸方向の反対側に、第二の環状のシール部材(63、163)が配置されて、前記第一の環状のシール部材(63、163)と前記第二の環状のシール部材(63、163)は協働して、前記環状の圧力領域を定めることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のカップリング装置。
- 前記第二の環状のシール部材(63、163)はシールキャビティ(75、175)内に配置されて、前記シールキャビティの径方向の大きさよりも大きな径方向の高さHと、前記シールキャビティの軸方向の幅よりも小さな軸方向の幅Wを有し、この際、前記高さHと前記幅Wは、前記第二の環状のシール部材(63、163)が、約2.5:1〜約5:1の範囲内にH/W比を有するように定められることを特徴とする請求項3に記載のカップリング装置。
