Description
「吸収性材料」という用語は、0.9重量%塩化ナトリウムを含む水性溶液を、それ自体の重量の少なくとも5倍、しかし一般的には15倍より小さい量まで吸収することができるセルロース繊維のような材料を意味する。最も好ましい状態における吸収性材料は、スパンボンドウエブ、メルトブローンウエブ、ボンデッドカーデッドウエブ、及び同様のものなどの合成繊維マトリックスを含むことができる。又、通気式ボンデッドカーデッドウエブ、嵩高の通気式ボンデッド二成分繊維スパンボンドウエブ、および迅速な流体取り込みに有効な他の材料などの開孔構造も含む。
次のテスト手順が、本発明の吸収性コアに有益な接着剤の特性を測定するために使用される。
粘性テストは、「Standard Test Method for Apparent Viscosity of Hot Melt Adhesives and Coating Materials」という名称の、その全体がここに引用により組み入れられる、ASTM Test Method D3236−88に従って、次のパラメーターでおこなわれる。使用される粘度計は、米国マサチューセッツ州ミドルボロのBrookfield Engineering Laboratoriesにより形成された、RVDV III型である。ASTMテスト法を実施するために使用するスピンドル番号は、SC4−27である。試料の大きさは、約10.5グラムの接着剤とする。スピンドル速度(rpm)は、20パーセントから80パーセントの範囲におけるトルク読み値を生じる値に設定される。読み値は、約15分の間の数分ごとか、又は粘性値が安定するまで読み取られ、その後で最終粘性読み値(センチポアズで)が記録される。
レオロジーテストは、熱溶融接着剤の貯蔵係数及びガラス転移温度を求めるために使用される。レオロジーテストは、「Standard Test Method for Plastics:Dynamic Mechanical Properties Melt Rheology」という名称の、ASTMテスト法D4440−01に従って一般的に実施され、その開示の全体は、一貫性がある範囲で引用によりここに組み入れられる。
温度制御は、液体窒素の使用に関連するように設定する。
形状は、8mmプレートに設定する。

伸び及び回復テストは、吸収性物品の、更により特定的には、1つ又はそれより多い基材、或いは他の成分に固定された吸収性コアを含むテスト被験物の、伸び及び回復特性を測定するために使用される3サイクルの伸び及び回復テストである。特定的には、このテストは、吸収性コアを基材に固定することが、あるとすればどのような影響を、その伸び及び回復特性に持つかを定めるために使用される。テストは、特定の量の歪み(例えば、特定の伸びにまで伸長させる)の下に置かれたテスト試量の負荷値を測定する。このような負荷値は、テストの伸びと回復両方の相の間に、かつ3つのサイクルの各々の間に定められる。各々のテスト試料の回復は、回復相の間に、負荷値が試料の幅1インチ当たり3.3グラム(gf)に低下した後の、永久伸びの割合によって求められる。テストは、被験物(例えば、基材に取り付けられた吸収性コア)だけでなく、吸収性コアとは別個の基材上でも実施され、その結果が比較される。
テスト被験物の6つの試料に、伸び及び回復テストが実施され、6つの試料のうち3つは被験物全体の試料で、残りの3つの試料は被験物の吸収性コアとは独立した(例えば切り離している)基材の試料であり、3つの試料の各々のセットの結果が平均される。各々の試料は、およそ3インチ(76mm)の幅と、少なくとも5インチ(127mm)の長さ、より好ましくは少なくとも6インチ(152mm)の長さを有する。被験物が、3インチより大きい幅を持つ製造された物品から切り出される場合は、試料は、被験物の中央から切断しなければならない、すなわち縁部効果がテストに一定しない結果をもたらす可能性がある危険性を減少させるために、物品の横方向縁部を含む試料は避けなければならない。
次のテスト装置及び材料が、伸びと回復テストを実施するために使用される。
73±2°F(約23℃)、平均湿度が50±2%のような、適当な周囲条件が、試料テストのために使用される。試料が、実質的には異なる条件の下で貯蔵される場合は、試料は、研究室の条件で平衡を保った後に測定されるべきである。

各々の作動セッションの最初に、TESTWORKSソフトウエアを使用してロードセルを調整する。クロスヘッド位置を制御する張力フレーム押しボタンを使用して、測定長さ(グリップ間の距離)が4インチ(102mm)になるようにグリップを移動する。この最初の測定長さに、ソフトウエアを調整する。テストする試料を、2つのグリップの間の中央に位置するように長さ方向に置き、該グリップ内の間の中央位置に保持さるようにし、例えば、試料の垂直(例えば側部)縁部がグリップ面に対して垂直な状態に正しく(例えば、幅方向の寸法がグリップ間の長さ方向に対して横方向になる状態で)方向付ける。試料に張力を与えないで試料のゆるみを最小にするように、試料を保持したまま、グリップを試料上に近づける。

基材の回復率
縁長さに対する周長の比及び平均縁部からの標準偏差の距離を求めることに関連して、エックス線透視及び画像分析が使用される。同時に、これらの値は、吸収性複合体の縁部の巻き角、並びに平均縁部位置に関連して、周長がどのくらい不規則かを示すものである。
吸収性コアが接着されているか、又は吸収性コアの一体性を維持するように機能しているティッシュ又は不織層にコアが接触している状態を維持したまま、乱れを最小にしてオムツから吸収性コアを注意深く取り除く。次に吸収性コア及び近接する不織層又はティッシュ層をエックス線装置に置く。代替的には、吸収体及び近接する層を著しく破壊しないで吸収性コアをオムツから容易に取り除くことができない場合には、オムツ全体をエックス線透視して、構造全体を分析する。エックス線を優先的に吸収し、吸収性コアの分析を妨げる大きい原子番号の構成要素を含む層がオムツに存在する(例えば、CaCl2又はTiO2がフィルム層にかなりの量で存在する)場合には、次いで大きい原子番号の構成要素を除去し、この層のみのエックス線透視をして、オムツ全体の画像からのその影響を数値的に減じる。
湿潤状態又は乾燥状態のいずれの場合においても、吸収体の量を定めるエックス線透視法は、当業者に一般的に知られており、1995年夏号の雑誌Nonwovens World65−70ページにおけるDavid F.Ring、Oscar Lijap及びJoseph Pascenteによる「Fluid Distribution:comparison of X−ray Imaging Data」という標題の記事に、例えば物品における湿潤時及び乾燥時の吸収体が記載されている。得られたグレースケール画像の分析は、Mathworks,Inc.(マサチューセッツ州ナティック)より入手可能なMatlabのようなソフトウエアを使用して遂行される。
試料テストには、華氏73+/−2度(約摂氏23度)及び相対湿度が50+/−2パーセントのような合理的な周囲条件が使用される。試料が大幅に異なる条件のもとで貯蔵されている時には、試料は、実験室条件のもとで平衡を保った後に測定しなければならない。
上記した手順によるエックス線透視により得られたグレースケール画像が、次に分析される。図7は、吸収性コアのクレースケール画像を図で示したものである。縁部長さに対する周長の比又は平均縁部からの平均偏差を求めるための、評価する全視野すなわち関心ある領域(ROI)は、x方向に48.1mm及びy方向に48.1mmとする。図7は、分析するために平坦な縁部領域を得るための、吸収体に関するROI260の設置を示している。図7のROI260は、画像における吸収体縁部とROIの間の全体的な空間関係を示すだけのものである。ROI及びROI内の要素の数は、以下に定められる。平坦で、分析を妨げるような著しい湾曲を持たないものであれば、他の縁部領域も分析することができることを理解すべきである。直線状縁部は、この計算を確実なものとするが、局所的縁部を形成することができる表示上の湾曲状の領域に関しても、逸脱又は湾曲状の測定を行うことができる。材料縁部に上記の分析を実施するのに十分な直線部分がない場合には、周辺に沿って端部から端部までが1cmより小さくないラインセグメントによって湾曲縁部に近似させる。この場合には、端部長さは、これらのラインセグメント全体の長さとする。縁部からの偏差は、すべての境界点と最も近いラインセグメントとについての、標準点とラインとの間の計算式を使用して計算することができる。
ラインAx+By+=0から点(x2,y2)までの距離は、D=(Ax2+By2+C)/(±sqrt(A^2+B^2))である。どのような場合においても、ROIの大きさは、固定したままである。解像度、すなわちすべての視野を構成する個々の画素の大きさは、長さ及び幅どちらも0.36mmで、合計で17689画素が得られる。
上記でテストされた吸収性コア及び基材は、次のような化合物を有するものであった。

Claims (18)
- 基材層と、
前記基材層に接着剤で取り付けられた、インラインで形成された吸収性コアと、
を備える吸収性物品であって、
前記吸収性コアは、40−99重量%の超吸収性粒子及び1−60重量%の接着剤繊維を含み、前端部、後端部、及び2つの横方向側部を有し、
前記吸収性コアの前記横方向側部は、横方向に延びるピーク部と谷部を有する毛羽立ち又は鋸歯状の形状を有し、
前記吸収性コアは、前記前端部、前記後端部、及びそれらの間の中央領域を有し、前記前端部及び前記後端部は、前記中央領域より5%以上大きい平均幅を有し、
前記吸収性コアは、実質的に前記吸収性コアの表面全体にわたって、接着剤で基材層に取り付けられている、
ことを特徴とする物品。 - 前記基材は、延伸可能であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記基材は、弾性であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の吸収性物品。
- 液体透過性身体側ライナー及び液体不透過性外カバーを更に含み、前記成形した吸収性コアは、前記身体側ライナーと前記外カバーの間にあることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項3までのいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記基材層は、前記外カバーを含むことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記基材層は、前記身体側ライナーを含むことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記基材層は、付加層を含むことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記吸収性コアは、約80−98重量%の超吸収性粒子及び約2−20重量%の接着剤繊維を含むことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項7までのいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記吸収性コアは、更にセルロース繊維を含むことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項8までのいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記接着繊維は、204℃の温度で約10,000センチポアズより小さい粘性を持つ接着剤で形成されることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項9までのいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記接着繊維は、25℃で約1.0x107ダイン/cm2より小さいか、又はこれと等しい貯蔵係数を持つ接着剤で形成されることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項9までのいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記接着繊維は、約−25℃から約25℃のガラス転移温度を持つ接着剤から形成されることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項9までのいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記超吸収性粒子は、陽イオンポリマー及び陰イオンポリマーを含むことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項12のいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記吸収性コアの前記前端部及び前記後端部は、前記中央領域より10%以上、または25%以上大きい平均幅を有することを特徴とする請求項1から請求項13のいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記吸収性コアの前記前端部及び前記後端部は、前記中央領域より50%以上大きい平均幅を有することを特徴とする請求項1から請求項13のいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記吸収性コアの両側の表面に接着剤で取り付けられた2つの延伸可能な基材層を含むことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項15までのいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
- 前記物品は、個人ケアー用吸収性物品であることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項16までのいずれか1項に記載の吸収性物品。
