Description
請求項9に記載の発明は、請求項7または8に記載の方法において、前記双方向選択呼出加入者装置内の自動利得コントローラの電力を調整することにより、前記メッセージング・システムの動作を制御する工程を含むことを要旨とする。
ここで、qは、携帯加入者ユニットと基地局サイトをつなぐラインと、移動方向を示すラインとによって作られる角度である(ただし、この例では、Cos(q)=1と仮定する)。これは、周波数を増減するためにプラス(+)またはマイナス(−)表示を行う。GPSは移動方向および携帯加入者位置を把握しており、基地局位置は既知であるので、すべての情報は角度qを求めるために判明している。同様に、加入者ユニットが基地局受信機から離れつつある場合、ドップラ・シフトは、局所発振器を調整して、加入者ユニットにおける送信周波数を増加するか、あるいは基地局受信機における受信周波数を低減することによって考慮できる。それに応じて、基地局送信機が70マイル毎時で近づきつつある加入者ユニットに送信中の場合、900MHzの発信側送信は約94Hzのドップラ・シフトが生じ、このドップラ・シフトは、局所発振器を調整して、基地局送信機における送信周波数を低減するか、あるいは加入者ユニットの受信機における受信周波数を増加することによって考慮できる。同様に、加入者ユニットが基地局送信機から離れつつある場合、ドップラ・シフトは、局所発振器を調整して、基地局送信機における送信周波数を増加するか、あるいは加入者ユニットの受信機における受信周波数を低減することによって考慮できる。周波数は、加入者または基地局内の送信機または受信機VCO(図示せず)の制御電圧を変えることによって変更できる。
Claims (6)
- 複数の基地局を有する通信システム(100)において、移動加入者ユニットが備える選択呼出トランシーバ(20)であって、前記基地局はそれぞれ、サイト座標を有する基地局送信機(90,94,99)を備え、
前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)は、受信機モジュール(26)、送信機モジュール(22)、GPS受信機(24)、自動利得コントローラ(34)およびコントローラ(28)を有し、
前記コントローラ(28)は、前記受信機モジュール(26)、前記送信機モジュール(22)、および前記GPS受信機(24)にそれぞれ連結され、
前記GPS受信機(24)は、GPS情報を受信することによって、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)の位置情報を前記コントローラ(28)に提供するように構成され、
前記コントローラ(28)は、前記位置情報をそれぞれ前記サイト座標と比較することによってこれら地理的情報に基づき判定を行い、前記判定によって選択した1つの前記基地局が有する前記基地局送信機(90,94,99)の基地局送信機電力を制御する制御信号を、前記送信機モジュール(22)を介して前記選択した基地局に提供することによって、前記基地局送信機電力を調整し、且つ前記送信機モジュール(22)の送信機電力を調整し、且つ前記自動利得コントローラ(34)の利得を制御するように構成され、
前記コントローラ(28)はさらに、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)が前記基地局送信機(90,94,99)のサイトに近い場合に、前記基地局送信機電力を低下させることによって、前記自動利得コントローラ(34)の飽和を軽減することと、信号品質測定を改善することとを行い、且つ前記受信機モジュール(26)が受信した前記基地局送信機電力の電力レベルが高い場合に、前記自動利得コントローラ(34)の利得を低減することと、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)が前記基地局送信機(90,94,99)のサイトに近い場合に前記送信機電力を低下させることとによって、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)のバッテリ節電を行うように構成され、
前記GPS情報は、正確な時間信号を含み、
前記コントローラ(28)はさらに、システムカバレッジを失った期間中でも、前記通信システムとの同期を維持できることを特徴とする、選択呼出トランシーバ(20)。 - 前記コントローラ(28)は、前記判定によって前記基地局送信機電力を調整するとともに、前記送信機モジュール(22)の送信機電力を調整するように構成される、
請求項1記載の選択呼出トランシーバ。 - 前記コントローラ(28)は、前記位置情報を用いることによって、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)の方向と速度を決定するように構成される、
請求項1または2記載の選択呼出トランシーバ。 - 前記コントローラ(28)は、前記位置情報を用いることによって、順方向誤り訂正と、リトライ送信決定と、ドップラー周波数シフトと、サブゾーン選択切り換えと、サイト選択切り換えと、同期と、周波数走査および周波数選択とのうちの1以上の機能を実行するように構成される、
請求項1〜3いずれか1項記載の選択呼出トランシーバ。 - 複数の基地局を有する通信システム(100)において、移動加入者ユニットが備える選択呼出トランシーバ(20)の動作方法であって、前記基地局はそれぞれ、サイト座標を有する基地局送信機(90,94,99)を備え、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)は、受信機モジュール(26)、送信機モジュール(22)、GPS受信機(24)、自動利得コントローラ(34)およびコントローラ(28)を有し、前記コントローラ(28)は、前記受信機モジュール(26)、前記送信機モジュール(22)、および前記GPS受信機(24)にそれぞれ連結され、前記動作方法は、
前記GPS受信機(24)が、GPS情報を受信することによって、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)の位置情報を前記コントローラ(28)に提供するステップ(202)と;
前記コントローラ(28)が、前記位置情報をそれぞれ前記サイト座標と比較することによってこれら地理的情報に基づき判定を行うステップ(206)と
を有し、
前記コントローラ(28)は、前記判定によって選択した1つの前記基地局が有する前記基地局送信機(90,94,99)の基地局送信機電力を制御する制御信号を、前記送信機モジュール(22)を介して前記選択した基地局に提供することによって、前記基地局送信機電力を調整し、且つ前記送信機モジュール(22)の送信機電力を調整し、且つ前記自動利得コントローラ(34)の利得を制御し、
前記コントローラ(28)はさらに、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)が前記基地局送信機(90,94,99)のサイトに近い場合に前記基地局送信機電力を低下させることによって、前記自動利得コントローラ(34)の飽和を軽減することと、信号品質測定を改善することとを行い、且つ前記受信機モジュール(26)が受信した前記基地局送信機電力の電力レベルが高い場合に前記自動利得コントローラ(34)の利得を低減することと、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)が前記基地局送信機(90,94,99)のサイトに近い場合に前記送信機電力を低下させることとによって、前記選択呼出トランシーバ(20)のバッテリ節電を行い、
前記GPS情報は、正確な時間信号を含み、
前記コントローラ(28)はさらに、システムカバレッジを失った期間中でも、前記通信システムとの同期を維持できることを特徴とする、選択呼出トランシーバ(20)の動作方法。 - 前記動作方法はさらに、前記判定によって前記基地局送信機電力を調整するとともに、前記送信機モジュール(22)の送信機電力を調整するステップを有する、
