Description
本発明は請求項1の上位概念部に記載のディーゼルエンジンのためのピストンに関する。

SAE-Paper860888の、「In-Service Performance of Ceramic and Metallic Coatings in Diesel Engines」に公知のように、ディーゼルエンジンにおいて、MCrAlY-プラズマ溶射層によりピストンクラウンを被覆することによって、腐食を回避することができる。しかし、ここに提示された結果は純粋な研究結果であり、これまで実際に行われたことがなく、腐食防止のために提案された溶射層は、常に二酸化ジルコニウムより成る層との関連で考察されていて、この層のために、溶射層は被着層及び腐食防止層として作用する。このSAE-Paperには、この層の実施のための詳しい説明はない。

そこで本発明の課題は、このような形式の溶射層を改良して、商業的な製造の観点から、大量生産できるようにするということである。

この課題は、請求項1の特徴部に記載の有利な構成によって解決された。

別の有利な構成が従属請求項に記載されている。

このような形式のピストンがドイツ連邦共和国特許第29600036号明細書により公知である。このピストンでは、ピストンクラウン及び燃焼くぼみへの酸化皮膜の付着が、次のようにして回避される、つまり、アルミニウム合金、若しくは特に二酸化ジルコニウムまたは耐熱酸化物のセラミックスより成る層をピストンクラウンに被着させることによって回避される。

ここではただ付加的に、セラミックス層と基本材料との間にNiCrAl-合金から成る別のもう1つの腐食防止層を被着させる。

セラミックス層と別のもう1つの合金による層から成る、このような形式の被覆層の形成には長い時間と手間、ひいては高い費用がかかる。

このため、本発明による被覆層は、有利には付加的なセラミック被覆層を有しておらず、ただMCrAlY層のみから成る。この場合、Mは金属Ni, Fe, Coを表している。

本発明による溶射層の厚さは様々に変化し、くぼみ縁部の領域で最大となり、一方、ピストンクラウンにおいては、このくぼみは半径方向外側に向かって減少し、さらにくぼみ内でくぼみ底部に向かって減少している。

特にピストンクラウン及びくぼみ内の被覆層の領域に、被覆層がピストンクラウンとほぼ同一平面上で終了するように、旋削加工によって切欠きを設けることができ、これにより、ピストンクラウン及び被覆された部分の様々異なる領域の表面が同一平面上に並び、被覆層で覆われていないピストンの場合と同じ圧縮率が得られるようになっている。

層の厚さは大抵50μm〜500μmの範囲にあり、くぼみ縁部では、有利には200μm〜400μmの範囲にある。層を形成するための方法として、プラズマ溶射が有利である。

実施例の説明
鋼から成るピストンクラウン1は、燃焼くぼみ2及びシリンダヘッドに向いた表面3を備えている。表面3及び燃焼くぼみ2を少なくとも部分的に被覆するプラズマ溶射層4は、くぼみ縁部5の領域で最大の厚さを有し、この層の厚さは半径方向外側に向かって、及びくぼみ底部に向かって減少する。ここでは、溶射層は実物大ではなく、層の厚さの経過を明確にするために拡大して示されている。

Claims (3)
- 少なくともピストンクラウンが鋼より成る、ディーゼルエンジンのためのピストンであって、燃焼くぼみが設けられており、さらにシリンダヘッドに向いたピストンクラウン表面及び燃焼くぼみ内に、NiCrAl合金、またはCoCrAl合金、または両方の合金の混合合金、またはFeCrAl合金より成る、熱による溶射によって被着された被覆層が設けられている形式のものにおいて、
くぼみ縁部の領域で層の厚さが最大になり、前記の層の厚さがピストンクラウンにおいて半径方向外側に向かって減少し、さらに燃焼くぼみ内でくぼみ底部に向かって減少し、前記層がピストン表面と同一平面を成しており、被覆層が唯一の熱による溶射層としてピストンに設けられていることを特徴とする、ディーゼルエンジンのためのピストン。 - 被覆層の合金が付加的にイットリウムを含有している、請求項1記載のディーゼルエンジンのためのピストン。
- ピストンクラウン及び燃焼くぼみに、層を被覆する前に、後に被着されるそれぞれの層の厚さに相応する程度に、旋削加工によって切欠きが設けられており、これにより被覆を施していないピストンの場合と同じ程度の圧縮率が得られるようになっている、請求項1又は2記載のピストン。
