Description
加工食品、ナッツ、カットされた果物及び野菜などの傷みやすい製品は、しばしば密封シールされた包装に入れられ、窒素又はアルゴンなどの不活性ガスで充填されることで、包装内の酸素濃度を約3%未満にでき、結果として製品の貯蔵寿命を延ばすことができる。そのような包装はCA貯蔵(CAP)若しくはMAP包装(MAP)として一般に知られている。
特許請求の範囲を含む本開示中で用いられる場合、「穴の大きさ」の用語は穴又は開口部の断面積を意味する。穴の大きさは面積(例えばcm2又はin2)として報告されるか、面積が算出できる様々なもの(例えば円の半径(面積=(π)(半径2)、円の直径(面積=(π)(直径/2)2)、正方形の辺の長さ(面積=長さ2)、正三角形の辺の長さ(面積=((長さ2)/4)(3の平方根))など)として報告されるであろう。

ポアズイユの法則は包装にあいた穴の大きさの概算値を算出するのに非常に適しており、それは穴がほぼ均等な内腔を有する管であるという前提と、以下に説明される方程式中の各変数と一致することによる。

図1及び2に示されるように、発明の第一の面は密封シールされた包装100における漏れの大きさを検出及び報告するための装置10である。
固体成分101及び気体成分102を有する包装100のユニットが解析用に選択される。電源のスイッチ91が押されることで装置10を稼動し、スタートボタンSが押される。装置10は順次的な要求を表示し、真空になった包装100を取り囲む流体の粘度、包装100が形成する材料の厚み100a、及び包装100におけるシール110の長さ110aの値を使用者にデータ入力装置92を用いて入力させる。代替形態として、プロセッサ60は流体の粘度と共にプログラムされ、それはそのような試験中に一般に「周囲の」気体として接する空気、窒素、及びヘリウムなどであり、そして、装置10は使用者が選択するであろうこれらの流体の種類のメニューを単に表示することができる。要求したデータを受信した後に、装置10は使用者に針20を試験する包装100に挿入するよう指示を出す。

Claims (2)
- (a)針と、
(b)真空ポンプと、
(c)質量流量計と、
(d)第一の圧力計と、
(e)第二の圧力計と、
(f)ディスプレイ装置と、
(g)使用者用の入力装置と、
(h)記憶装置と、
(i)プロセッサと
を有する装置であって、針は密封シールされた包装に穴をあけるために用いることができる内腔を有していることで、包装によって形成される保存チャンバと流体連通するように針の内腔を配置することができ、
真空ポンプは針によって形成される内腔と流体連通しており、密封シールされた包装から気体成分を効果的に吸引することで、吸引された保存チャンバを形成することができ、
質量流量計は針によって形成される内腔とシールされた流体連通しており、真空ポンプによって吸引された保存チャンバから内腔を通って引き出される質量流量を検出すると共に質量流量シグナルを伝達し、
第一の圧力計は密封シールされた包装上の外圧を検出、及び外圧シグナルを伝達するために機能し、
第二の圧力計は包装によって形成される保存チャンバ内の圧力を検出、及び内圧シグナルを伝達し、
記憶装置は
(1)外部気体の流体粘度の値と、
(2)包装壁部の厚みの値と、
(3)少なくとも一つの包装のシールの長さの値と
を受信及び記憶し、
プロセッサは(1)質量流量シグナルを受信する、(2)外圧シグナルを受信する、(3)内圧シグナルを受信する、(4)記憶装置と交信することで、流体粘度の値、包装壁部の厚みの値、及び包装のシールの長さの値を獲得する、(5)ポアズイユの法則と包装壁部の厚みの値とを用いて包装の壁にあいた穴に対する第一の穴の大きさの値を算出する、(6)ポアズイユの法則と少なくとも一つのシールの長さの値とを用いて少なくとも一つのシールにあいた穴に対する第二の穴の大きさの値を算出する、及び(8)第一及び第二の穴の大きさの値の少なくとも一つを表示するように接続及びプログラムされている装置。 - (a)密封シールされた包装に穴をあけて、包装によって形成される保存チャンバと流体連通した状態に内腔を配置する段階と、
(b)保存チャンバから内腔を介して気体成分を吸引し、吸引された保存チャンバを形成する段階と、
(c)吸引された保存チャンバから内腔を通る質量流量を検出する段階と、
(d)吸引された保存チャンバを取り囲む気体の外圧を検出する段階と、
(e)吸引された保存チャンバ内の内圧を検出する段階と、
(f)電子メモリに(1)外気の流体粘度の値と、(2)包装壁部の厚みの値と、(3)少なくとも一つのシールの長さの値とを入力する段階と、
(g)ポアズイユの法則と包装壁部の厚みの値とを用いて、検出された値及び入力値から包装の壁にあいた穴の第一の穴の大きさの値を算出する段階と、
(h)ポアズイユの法則と少なくとも一つのシールの長さの値とを用いて、検出された値及び入力値から少なくとも一つのシールにあいた穴の第二の穴の大きさの値を算出する段階と、
(i)第一及び第二の穴の大きさの値の少なくとも一つを伝える段階と
を有する方法。
