Description
まず、参考例1にかかる液晶表示装置について説明する。参考例1では、周辺領域における配線構造の単位面積あたりの占有面積を表示領域とほぼ同等、または表示領域と比較し大きくすることによって、表示領域および周辺領域においてアレイ基板を透過する光の量を調整し、輝度ムラの原因と考えられる不純物イオンの移動を制御している。図1は、本参考例1である液晶表示装置のアレイ基板の平面図を示した図である。
参考例1では、周辺領域および表示領域における配線構造の単位面積あたりの占有面積を調整することによって周辺領域から表示領域への不純物イオンの移動を抑制し赤ムラを低減していたが、実施の形態では、カラーフィルタ層の抵抗率比を調整することによって表示領域内の不純物イオンの部分的な偏りを抑制し、白色表示時における赤ムラを低減している。
参考例1および実施の形態では、発生した不純物イオンの移動および部分的な集中を防止することによって白色表示時における赤ムラの発生を低減していたが、参考例2では不純物イオンの放出を低減することによって白色表示時における赤ムラの発生を抑制している。

Claims (1)
- 光源と、液晶分子を主成分とする液晶層と、該液晶層の封入される領域内に表示領域と前記表示領域の周囲に位置する周辺領域とを有するアレイ基板と、異なる波長透過性を有する複数の光透過層を備えたカラーフィルタと、前記液晶分子を所定方向に配向させる配向膜とを備えた画像表示装置において、
前記光透過層は、最も低い抵抗率を有する前記光透過層の抵抗率と最も高い抵抗率を有する前記光透過層の抵抗率との比が、前記表示領域を透過する光の単位面積あたりの量と前記周辺領域を透過する光の単位面積あたりの量との差に対して、以下の数式に示す関係を備え、
前記アレイ基板と平行な電界を形成する横電界方式の液晶表示装置であることを特徴とする画像表示装置。
