Description
Claims (25)
- 1以上の合金組成物から形成された少なくとも2層からなる複合金属インゴットのキャスティング方法であって、
該方法は、溶融金属を添加する供給端と凝固したインゴットを抜き出す排出端と、該供給端を少なくとも2つの別個の供給チャンバに分割し、該各供給チャンバを少なくとも1つの他の供給チャンバに隣接させた状態で、下端が該排出端の上方に位置するように配置された分割壁とを有する、開口を備えた環状モールドを用いる方法であって、
隣接する供給チャンバ対に対し、第1合金からなる第1のストリームを該供給チャンバ対の一方の第1チャンバに供給して該第1チャンバの中に上面を有する第1合金プールを形成する一方、第2合金からなる第2のストリームを該供給チャンバ対の他方の第2チャンバに供給して該第2チャンバの中に上面を有する第2合金プールを形成し、
第1合金プールを該供給チャンバ対の間に配置された分割壁に接触させ、第1合金プールを冷却して分割壁に隣接する自立面を形成し、
該自立面の温度が第1合金の液相線温度と固相線温度の間である場所で第2合金プールを該自立面に接触させることにより2つの合金を接合して2層となし、その接合された合金層を冷却して複合インゴットを形成する方法であり、
第2合金プールを該自立面に接触させるに際し、分割壁の下端より低い位置で第2合金プールの上面を該自立面に接触させる、あるいは分割壁の下端から上に3mmの高さを超えない位置で第2合金プールの上面を分割壁と接触させる、のいずれかの方法を用いる、複合金属インゴットのキャスティング方法。 - 第1及び第2合金が同じ組成を有する請求項1記載の方法。
- 第1合金と第2合金の組成が異なる請求項1記載の方法。
- 第1合金の自立面の温度が第1合金の凝集温度と固相線温度の間である場所で、第2合金プールの上面を第1合金の自立面に接触させる請求項1記載の方法。
- 上記供給端を分割する分割壁が、チャンバ対のそれぞれのチャンバの間に設けられた温度制御された分割壁である請求項1から4のいずれか一つに記載の方法。
- 上記温度制御された分割壁は、第2合金の上面が上記自立壁に接触する場所における第1合金の自立壁の温度を制御する請求項5記載の方法。
- 温度制御流体を上記分割壁に接触させて上記分割壁の温度制御を行う請求項5記載の方法。
- 上記温度制御流体を上記分割壁と接する導管に流し、該導管から流出するその流体の排出温度を測定することにより上記自立面の温度を制御する請求項7記載の方法。
- 第2合金プールの上面を、上記分割壁の下端より低い位置に維持する請求項1から8のいずれか一つに記載の方法。
- 第2合金プールの上面を、上記分割壁の下端から少なくとも2mm低い位置に維持する請求項9記載の方法。
- 上記分割壁の曲率をキャスティング時に変化させる請求項1から10のいずれか一つに記載の方法。
- 上記分割壁の第1合金と接触する面に、下方に延び第2チャンバ側に傾斜する外向きテーパーを設ける請求項1から11のいずれか一つに記載の方法。
- 上記分割壁の長さ方向に沿ってテーパーが変化する請求項12記載の方法。
- 1以上の上記金属プールの上面の位置を制御するに際し、
ガス源を用意し、
開口チューブによりガスを供給し、ここで使用時には開口がチャンバの上面より低くなるように開口がチャンバ内の基準点に位置決めされており、
開口状態を維持できる程度に十分遅い流速となるようにガスの流速を制御し、
上記チューブ内のガス圧力を測定し、
その測定圧力を予め設定した目標値と比較し、そして
上記上面を所定の位置に維持するようにチャンバ内への金属の流入を調整する請求項1記載の方法。 - 上記モールドが、横断面形状が長方形であって、2つの対向する長側壁と2つの対向する短側壁を有するとともに、該長側壁に平行に配置された幅の異なる2つのチャンバを有するモールドであり、該モールドを用いて一面にクラッドを有する長方形インゴットを形成する請求項1記載の方法。
- 第1合金が、上記2つの供給チャンバの大きい方に供給される請求項15記載の方法。
- 第2合金が、上記2つの供給チャンバの大きい方に供給される請求項15記載の方法。
- 上記分割壁が上記モールドの長側壁に実質的に平行であり、かつ上記モールドの長側壁に達する湾曲端部を有する請求項15、16又は17に記載の方法。
- 上記分割壁が、上記モールドの長側壁に実質的に平行であり、かつ上記モールドの短側壁に達する湾曲端部を有する請求項15、16又は17に記載の方法。
- 上記モールドが、横断面形状が長方形であって、2つの対向する長側壁と2つの対向する短側壁を有するとともに、該長側壁に平行に配置された3つのチャンバを有し、該3つのチャンバの中央のチャンバが両側のチャンバの一方よりも大きな幅を有するモールドであり、該モールドを用いて両面にクラッドを有する長方形インゴットを形成する請求項1記載の方法。
- 第1合金が上記中央チャンバに供給される請求項20記載の方法。
- 第2合金が上記中央チャンバに供給される請求項20記載の方法。
- 上記分割壁が上記モールドの長側壁に実質的に平行であり、かつ上記モールドの長側壁に達する湾曲端部を有する請求項20、21又は22に記載の方法。
- 上記分割壁が、上記モールドの長側壁に実質的に平行であり、かつ上記モールドの短側壁に達する湾曲端部を有する請求項20、21又は22に記載の方法。
- 1以上の合金組成物から形成された少なくとも2層からなる複合金属インゴットのキャスティング方法であって、
該方法は、溶融金属を添加する供給端と凝固したインゴットを抜き出す排出端と、該供給端を少なくとも2つの別個の供給チャンバに分割し、該各供給チャンバを少なくとも1つの他の供給チャンバに隣接させた状態で、下端が該排出端の上方に位置するように配置された分割壁とを有する、開口を備えた環状モールドを用いる方法であって、
隣接する供給チャンバ対に対し、第1合金からなる第1のストリームを該供給チャンバ対の一方の第1チャンバに供給して該第1チャンバの中に上面を有する第1合金プールを形成する一方、第2合金からなる第2のストリームを該供給チャンバ対の他方の第2チャンバに供給して該第2チャンバの中に上面を有する第2合金プールを形成し、
第1合金プールを該供給チャンバ対の間に配置された分割壁に接触させ、第1合金プールを冷却して分割壁に隣接する自立面を形成し、
該自立面の温度が第1合金の固相線温度より低い場所で第2合金プールを該自立面に接触させて第1合金と第2合金との間に界面を形成し、該界面を第1合金の液相線温度と固相線温度の間の温度まで第1合金プールまたは第2合金プールの潜熱で再加熱することにより、2つの合金を接合して2層となし、その接合された合金層を冷却して複合インゴットを形成する方法であり、
第2合金プールを該自立面に接触させるに際し、分割壁の下端より低い位置で第2合金プールの上面を該自立面に接触させる、および分割壁の下端から上に3mmの高さを超えない位置で第2合金プールの上面を分割壁と接触させる、のいずれかの方法を用いる、複合インゴットのキャスティング方法。
