Description
試みは、超音速民間機の胴体または外部外板パネルにおいて用いるのに必要な低密度および物理特性の必須の組合せを備えた複合材を生んでいない。積層は、上述の強度、引張り応力、疲労抵抗、および熱機械耐久性の特性を満たさなくてはならない。これはまた向上した損傷許容性を有するべきであり、金属と同様の態様で所望に凹んで、それによって大きな物理特性の劣化が生じる前に損傷の検出をもたらすべきである。積層におけるポリマ複合材層は、熱によって引き起こされる酸化と、水の進入と、燃料および他の溶媒に晒されることによって起こり得る潜在的な損傷とから保護されるべきである。さらに、積層は、固定具を受けるように孔をあけられた点からでさえ、高強度と亀裂の抵抗伝搬とを示すべきである。ハイブリッド積層はまた、航空機パネルのような、積層構造の一部を形成し得るコア構造への融解と両立すべきである。
は、樹脂と化学的かつ機械的により接合可能である表面を生じるように予め処理される。樹脂が接着剤の助けを借りずにチタン合金箔に接合することが好ましいが、シランのような接合剤を含むかまたは含まない接着剤が接合を容易にし、かつ高めるために用いられ得る。
金箔が受けることが好ましく、これは、このような表面が以下に説明されるある高温有機樹脂に、より粘り強く接合するためである。有益な表面処理プロセスは、たとえば引用により援用される米国特許第3,959,091号、第4,473,446号、および第3,989,876号に説明される。
、以下に説明されるように、単一のプライにおいてカーボンファイバおよびボロンファイバの混合物を強化物として用いることが好ましい。好ましいカーボンファイバは、引張り応力が35−50Msiであり、引張り伸び損傷が1.5%以上である「中程度または高度の強さ」のカーボンとして販売されるものである。典型的に、これらのファイバはPAN(ポリアクリロニトリル)前駆物質の族のファイバから生成される。好ましいボロンファイバは、引張り伸びが最も高い最小のボロンファイバ(少なくとも約4−7mil)である。好ましいボロン/カーボンファイバ混合物のプレプレッグは、(マサチューセッツ州ローウェル(Lowel, Massachusetts)のテクストロン・スペシャルティ・マテリアルズ(Textron Specialty Materials )による)商標HYBORの下で販売される。このファイバの組合せはプライにおいてより高いファイバ重量パーセントを許し、カーボンの高い引張り特性でボロンの高い圧縮特性を利用する。各型のファイバは以下に検討される特定の応用に最も適している。

を打消すために、さらなる長手プライがHL3において示されるようにレイアップに加えられる。このように、頂上部分は外部チタン箔10、単一のフーププライ、4つの継続的な長手複合材プライ、中心チタン箔10、4つの継続的な長手複合材プライ15、フープ複合材プライ13、および内部チタン箔層10を順に含む。これまでどおり、このレイアップの内部チタン箔は中心コアに接合され、レイアップはコアの他の側で繰返されて対称的なハイブリッド積層を生じる。胴体部分26の頂上の機尾部分は幾分簡略化されたレイアップ構造HL6を有し、これは引張力が航空機の胴体部分のこの部分ではそんなに高くはないためである。結果として、所望の強度特性を有するがHL3またはHL2よりも軽い積層を生じるためにより少ないプライが用いられ得る。したがって、部分26のレイアップHL6の機尾頂上区分も外部および内部のチタン箔層10を有し、その間に挟まれて、3つの長手プライ15を含む中心を有した複合材層を有し、フープファイバプライが最も外側の長手プライの各々と外部チタン箔層10との間に挟まれる。コア構造は箔層をコアに接合することによって2つのこのようなレイアップの間に挟まれて、対称的なハイブリッド積層構造を生じる。

Claims (13)
- 航空機の外板パネルであって、前記パネルは対称的なハイブリッド積層を含み、前記積層は、
(a) 前記ハイブリッド積層を構成するレイアップにそれぞれ接合される2つの側を有するコア構造と、
(b) 1対の前記レイアップとを含み、前記対の1つが前記コア構造の各側に接合され、前記レイアップの各々は積層化された層を含み、前記積層化された層は、
(i) 連続的な箔層を形成するように突き合わせ接合されたチタン合金ゴアパネルと、
(ii) 隣接した箔層間の有機ポリマ複合材層とを含み、前記複合材層は少なくとも1つのプライを含み、前記少なくとも1つのプライは、超音速飛行において遭遇される高温に繰返し晒されることに耐えるポリママトリックスを含み、前記ポリママトリックスはそこに埋込まれた共通に整列されたファイバを有する、航空機の外板パネル。 - 前記レイアップの各々はさらにチタン合金箔の外部層を含み、前記外部層は隣接した複合材プライに接合される、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 前記金属箔はベータチタン合金を含む、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 高温に耐える前記マトリックスは、ポリアリールエーテルケトン、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン、ポリイミド、ポリアリールエーテルスルホン、オキシジフタリックジアンハイドライド3,4’オキシジアニリン、およびその誘導体からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 前記箔層は0.003インチから0.01インチの厚さを有する、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 前記レイアップの各々のオープンホール引張り強度は前記レイアップの切込みが入れられていない極限強度の55%よりも大きい、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 前記レイアップの各々のオープンホール圧縮強度は少なくとも50ksiである、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 亀裂が始まった後の亀裂成長率はモノリシック形状の前記チタン合金の亀裂成長率の0.2%未満である、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 前記ファイバはグラファイトファイバおよびボロンファイバを含む群から選択される、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 極限引張り強度は2×10 6 psi/lb/in 3 を超える、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 極限圧縮強度は1.5×10 6 psi/lb/in 3 を超える、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 各レイアップは金属箔の第1および第2の層を含み、前記金属箔の層は、前記箔の層の各々の側部に接合されたポリマ複合材の介在層によって分離され、前記箔の層の各々は、前記第1の層の突き合わせ接合が前記第2の層の突き合わせ接合からずらされるように突き合わせ接合されたゴアパネルを含む、請求項1に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
- 前記レイアップの各々の金属箔の前記第1の層は前記ハイブリッド積層の外部層である、請求項12に記載の航空機の外板パネル。
