ポリマーが含浸されたグラファイトブロックを75x50x1mmサイズに準備して図8のように両面に流路チャンネルを形成し、この流路チャンネルと連結される燃料通過ホールを穿孔した。この時、燃料通過ホールのサイズは直径3mmに穿孔した。四角形の電極領域を取り囲むグルーブ148を形成した後、グルーブ148内に定量吐出器を使用して液状シリコンを塗布した。図9は、このように製造されたバイポーラプレート140を示す写真である。

Claims (6)
- 電解質膜の両面にそれぞれ設けられるアノード及びカソード電極を備えるメンブレン電極アセンブリ(MEA)が積層される複数のバイポーラプレート間に介在されて形成された直接液体燃料電池スタックにおいて、
前記バイポーラプレートは、各面に前記MEAが配置される電極領域を取り囲むように形成された所定深さのグルーブと、
前記バイポーラプレートの各面に形成された液体燃料または酸化剤の流路チャンネルに当該燃料を供給又は排出する、前記電極領域内に形成された複数の燃料通路ホールと、を備え、
前記燃料のいずれかを供給する燃料通路ホールから、該供給される燃料に対応する燃料を排出する他の燃料通路ホールまで多数の流路チャンネルで連結され、
前記燃料通路ホールと前記多数の流路チャンネルとの間にはマニホルドが形成されており、
前記流路チャンネル及び前記マニホルドの上部は前記電極によってカバーされ、
前記グルーブ上にはシーリング部材が形成され、
前記MEAには前記燃料通路ホールと対応する第1及び第2電極ホールと電解質膜ホールとが形成されており、
前記燃料通路ホールから燃料が流入されない第2電極ホールの直径は前記燃料通路ホールの直径よりも長く、前記第2電極ホールの内面に前記燃料通路ホールを取り囲むシーリング部材が配置され、
前記電解質膜のホールの直径は、前記燃料通路ホールの直径よりも長く、
前記シーリング部材は、前記第2電極ホール及び前記電解質膜ホールの内面で前記燃料通路ホールの周囲を取り囲むように形成され、
前記電解質膜ホールの直径は前記第2電極ホールの直径よりも短いことを特徴とする直接液体燃料電池スタック。 - 前記シーリング部材は、液状のシーリング剤が塗布されて形成されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の直接液体燃料電池スタック。
- 前記バイポーラの各面で、前記流路チャンネルから離隔された燃料通路ホールの周囲に所定深さのグルーブが形成され、
前記グルーブにはシーリング部材が配置されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の直接液体燃料電池スタック。 - 前記バイポーラプレートのうち上下終端プレートには前記MEAと接触する面にのみ前記流路チャンネルが形成されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の直接液体燃料電池スタック。
- 前記シーリング部材は、前記第2電極ホールの内面と前記電解質膜ホールの内面とによってそれぞれ形成される、ステップ状のスペースに、液状のシーリング剤が塗布されて形成されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の直接液体燃料電池スタック。
- 前記シーリング部材は、前記第2電極ホールの内面、前記電解質膜ホールの内面、及び、第1電極ホールの内面によってそれぞれ形成される、ステップ状のスペースに、液状のシーリング剤が塗布されて形成されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の直接液体燃料電池スタック。
