Description
図2は、放電加工用多孔性電極線の製造方法を示す図である。この図を参照し、0.9mmの直径からなる亜鉛35重量%、銅65重量%からなる黄銅の中間線材12が提供される。この中間線材12を黄銅よりも低い気化温度を有する亜鉛が溶融されている鍍金槽を一定時間通過させて中間線材12の表面に亜鉛からなる鍍金層を溶融鍍金するが、この際の中間線材12はその界面で鍍金槽10に溶融されている亜鉛と黄銅との拡散反応によって黄銅及び亜鉛より硬度が高いと共に伸率が低い合金層が形成され、その上に亜鉛鍍金層が形成される。このように形成された合金層は、最も高い硬度を有する。
このような細線は、熱処理段階を経て機械的性質を一層安定化させることが出来る。
図4(a)を参照し、電極線の表面には電極線の長さ方向に対して大略直角方向にクラックが発生していることが分かる。このようなクラックは、合金層が伸線されて生じ、図4(b)に示すようにこのクラックによって合金層及び亜鉛鍍金層はスポンジ形状の多孔層とされていることが見られる。

Claims (8)
- 放電加工機に使用される電極線の製造方法において、
銅を含む第1金属からなると共に第1直径からなる線材を準備し、
前記線材を前記第1金属より低い気化温度を有する第2金属が溶融されている鍍金槽に一定時間通過させて、空気中にて冷却され、前記線材の表面に前記第1金属と第2金属の拡散反応によって前記第1金属及び第2金属より硬度が高く且つ伸率が低い合金層を形成し、その上に第2金属からなる鍍金層を形成し、
空気中に冷却された後、前記合金層と鍍金層が形成された前記線材を第2直径となるように伸線して、前記合金層の高い硬度と低い伸率によって、前記合金層及び鍍金層にクラックを形成させ、表面積を増加することを特徴とする電極線の製造方法。 - 前記電極線の製造方法は、前記線材の機械的性質を安定化させるための熱処理段階を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1記載の電極線の製造方法。
- 前記第1金属は黄銅であることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の電極線の製造方法。
- 前記第2金属は亜鉛、アルミニウム、又は錫であることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の電極線の製造方法。
- 前記一定時間は、前記線材に3−10μmの厚さの鍍金層を形成するのに十分な時間であることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の電極線の製造方法。
- 前記第1金属は黄銅であり、該黄銅線材の表面に、3−10μmの銅−亜鉛合金層が形成されることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の電極線の製造方法。
- 最外郭に1−2μmの亜鉛鍍金層が形成されることを特徴とする、請求項6記載の電極線の製造方法。
- 前記電極線の製造方法は、合金層上に形成された第2金属層を除去する段階を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1記載の電極線の製造方法。
