Description
第1図および第2図において、本実施の形態に係る携帯電話機は、文字や数字の入力スイッチを含む各種機能スイッチ2を有している第1本体1と各種情報を可視表示する液晶表示装置10を有する第2本体3よりなっている。第1本体1と第2本体3はヒンジ4により開閉可能に結合されている。また、第2本体3の閉じた状態で外側になる外側面と内側になる内側面の両面に開口部(窓)が設けられており、外側面の開口部には外側透明カバー5、内側面の開口部には内側透明カバー8が設けられている。液晶表示装置10は外側面の開口部および内側面の開口部にそれぞれフロントライトが面するように配置されている。また、液晶表示装置10は駆動回路9からの信号で動作する。
第8図は本実施の形態の第2基板17に形成されている薄膜トランジスタ、配線、電極の構造の平面図である。その他の構成は実施の形態1と同様であるので説明を省略する。
本実施の形態の構成は実施の形態1と同様なので説明を省略する。本実施の形態では、第2本体3を開いた状態で使用する。
本実施の形態においては、実施の形態1の第1および第2のフロントライトの光源11が赤緑青の3原色LEDであることが特徴である。その他は実施の形態1と同様であるので説明を省略する。
Claims (7)
- 反射部と透過部とを有する画素がマトリックス状に配置された、第1基板と画素駆動部を有する第2基板と前記第1基板および前記第2基板に挟まれた液晶とからなる液晶セルと、前記第1基板に対向して配置された第1偏光手段と、前記第2基板に対向して配置された第2偏光手段と、前記第1偏光手段および前記第2偏光手段の外側にそれぞれ配置された第1フロントライトおよび第2フロントライトとを有する液晶表示装置であって、
前記画素内の前記反射部の反射電極と前記透過部の透過電極とは互いに絶縁され、前記反射電極と前記透過電極とは独立に電圧が印加され、前記反射部が前記液晶表示装置の一方の面側に表示する画像と、前記透過部が他方の面側に表示する画像とが同時に異なるように両面に画像を表示することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 反射電極と透過電極とは、それぞれが備える薄膜トランジスタを通じて電圧が印加されることを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記反射部は黒表示することを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1または第2項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記反射部は白表示することを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1または第2項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2基板と前記第2偏光手段との間に反射偏光板を有することを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1または第2項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 表示手段を有する情報機器において、前記表示手段が特許請求の範囲第1または第2項に記載の液晶表示装置であることを特徴とする情報機器。
- 第1本体と、前記表示手段を有し前記第1本体に対して開閉可能に結合された第2本体とを備え、前記第2本体の開閉を判別する開閉判別手段を有し、前記第2本体が開いている場合に前記第1フロントライトが点灯することを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第6項に記載の情報機器。
