イオン交換膜4a1およびイオン交換膜4a2は、電解液1aおよび電解液1bの少なくとも一方に含まれる少なくとも一種のアニオンの通過を妨げる機能を有する。イオン交換膜4b1およびイオン交換膜4b2は、電解液1aおよび電解液1bの少なくとも一方に含まれる少なくとも一種のカチオンの通過を妨げる機能を有する。
Claims (10)
- 少なくとも被還元物質を含む第1の電解液を収容する第1の電解液領域と、少なくとも被酸化物質を含む第2の電解液を収容する第2の電解液領域と、前記第1の電解液領域と前記第2の電解液領域とを接続するイオン移動経路とを有する電解液槽と、
前記第1の電解液領域において前記第1の電解液に浸漬され、前記被還元物質の還元反応を生起する還元電極層と、前記第2の電解液領域において前記第2の電解液に浸漬され、前記被酸化物質の酸化反応を生起する酸化電極層と、前記還元電極層に電気的に接続された第1の面と前記第1の面に対向し前記酸化電極層に電気的に接続された第2の面とを有し、前記第1の面または前記第2の面に照射された光のエネルギーにより電荷分離を行う光電変換層と、を備える光電変換セルと、
前記第1の電解液領域と前記第2の電解液領域とを分離するように設けられた複数のイオン交換膜と、を具備する、光電気化学反応装置。 - 前記複数のイオン交換膜は、
前記第1の電解液に接し、少なくとも一種のアニオンの通過を妨げる機能を有する第1のイオン交換膜と、
前記第2の電解液に接し、少なくとも一種のカチオンの通過を妨げる機能を有する第2のイオン交換膜と、を有する、請求項1に記載の光電気化学反応装置。 - カチオン交換膜からなる前記第1のイオン交換膜とアニオン交換膜からなる前記第2のイオン交換膜との積層構造を有するバイポーラ膜を具備する、請求項2に記載の光電気化学反応装置。
- 前記電解液槽は、前記第1のイオン交換膜と前記第2のイオン交換膜との間に設けられ、第3の電解液を収容する第3の電解液領域を有し、
前記第3の電解液は、前記酸化反応または前記還元反応に寄与しないイオンを含む、請求項2に記載の光電気化学反応装置。 - 前記第3の電解液の脱塩処理機能を有する、請求項4に記載の光電気化学反応装置。
- 前記イオン移動経路からなる第1のイオン移動経路と、
前記第1の電解液領域または前記第2の電解液領域と、前記第3の電解液領域とを接続する第2のイオン移動経路と、を具備する、請求項4または請求項5に記載の光電気化学反応装置。 - 前記被還元物質は、二酸化炭素を含み、
前記被酸化物質は、水を含む、請求項1ないし請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の光電気化学反応装置。 - 前記第2の電解液のpHは、前記第1の電解液のpHよりも高い、請求項1ないし請求項7のいずれか一項に記載の光電気化学反応装置。
- 前記イオン移動経路は、前記光電変換セルを貫通するように設けられた貫通孔からなる、請求項1ないし請求項8のいずれか一項に記載の光電気化学反応装置。
- 前記電解液槽は、管状構造を有し、
前記第1の電解液領域および前記第2の電解液領域の一方は、前記電解液槽の内周に沿って前記第1の電解液領域および前記第2の電解液領域の他方に囲まれる、請求項1ないし請求項9のいずれか一項に記載の光電気化学反応装置。
