づいて説明する。図9は、図1(a)に示す等速自在継手1の継手中心平面Pにおける部分的な横断面図であり、同図中に示すトラック溝7(7A),9(9A)については、トラック溝7(7A),9(9A)のボール軌道中心線X,Yに垂直な断面で描いている。

ここで、本願の特許請求の範囲で規定している「内側継手部材と保持器の間の軸方向すきまを、ボールとトラック溝の間のボールトラックすきまによる軸方向すきまよりも大きくした」とは、上記の関係式が成立することを意味する。
が正の値に設定されているので、図示しないデファレンシャルギア、摺動式等速自在継手および中間シャフトを介して固定式等速自在継手1の内側継手部材3にアイドリング振動(軸方向の微振動)が伝わっても、ボール4がトラック溝7,9に沿って滑らかに転がることが、すなわち外側継手部材2と内側継手部材3が軸方向に滑らかに相対変位することができる。この相対変位の際、前述のように、内側継手部材3と保持器5の間の軸方向すきまΔSia1,ΔSia2を、それぞれ、ボールトラックすきまΔTによる軸方向すき
ま(ΔTao+ΔTai)よりも大きくしたことにより、上記の相対変位時にも球面間の
軸方向すきまを残存させることができる。これと共に、接触点軌跡CoA,CiAにより形成されるくさび角2γ’および接触点軌跡CoB,CiBにより形成されるくさび角2γ’による保持器5へのボール4の力の釣り合いが保たれることによって、保持器5が軸方向に片寄ることなく上記球面間の軸方向すきまを維持することができる。これらの相互作用により、内側継手部材3の球状外周面8と保持器5の球状内周面13とが接触(球面接触)することなく、両継手部材2,3が軸方向に相対変位することが可能となるので、アイドリング振動のような軸方向の微振幅の振動を円滑に吸収することができる。

Claims (6)
- 球状内周面に軸方向に延びる複数のトラック溝が形成された外側継手部材と、球状外周面に前記外側継手部材のトラック溝と対をなす複数のトラック溝が形成された内側継手部材と、対をなす前記外側継手部材のトラック溝と前記内側継手部材のトラック溝の間に介在してトルクを伝達するボールと、前記外側継手部材の球状内周面に嵌合する球状外周面および前記内側継手部材の球状外周面に嵌合する球状内周面を有する保持器とを備え、前記外側継手部材のトラック溝が、継手中心に対して軸方向にオフセットのない曲率中心をもつ円弧状に形成され、かつ継手の軸線に対して周方向に傾斜すると共にその傾斜方向が周方向に隣り合う前記トラック溝で互いに反対方向に形成されており、前記内側継手部材のトラック溝が、作動角0°の状態の継手中心平面を基準として、前記外側継手部材の対となるトラック溝と鏡像対称に形成された固定式等速自在継手において、
前記外側継手部材のトラック溝と前記内側継手部材のトラック溝の双方が、後輪用ドライブシャフトに求められる最大作動角に対応した長さを有し、かつ、前記内側継手部材と前記保持器の間の軸方向すきまを、前記ボールとトラック溝の間のボールトラックすきまによる軸方向すきまよりも大きくしたことを特徴とする固定式等速自在継手。 - 球状内周面に軸方向に延びる複数のトラック溝が形成された外側継手部材と、球状外周面に前記外側継手部材のトラック溝と対をなす複数のトラック溝が形成された内側継手部材と、対をなす前記外側継手部材のトラック溝と前記内側継手部材のトラック溝の間に介在してトルクを伝達するボールと、前記外側継手部材の球状内周面に嵌合する球状外周面および前記内側継手部材の球状外周面に嵌合する球状内周面を有する保持器とを備え、前記外側継手部材のトラック溝が、継手中心に対して軸方向にオフセットのない曲率中心をもつ円弧状に形成され、かつ継手の軸線に対して周方向に傾斜すると共にその傾斜方向が周方向に隣り合う前記トラック溝で互いに反対方向に形成されており、前記内側継手部材のトラック溝が、作動角0°の状態の継手中心平面を基準として、前記外側継手部材の対となるトラック溝と鏡像対称に形成された固定式等速自在継手において、
前記外側継手部材のトラック溝と前記内側継手部材のトラック溝の双方が、プロペラシャフトに求められる最大作動角に対応した長さを有し、かつ、前記内側継手部材と前記保持器の間の軸方向すきまを、前記ボールとトラック溝の間のボールトラックすきまによる軸方向隙間よりも大きくしたことを特徴とする固定式等速自在継手。 - 前記ボールトラックすきまを正の値としたことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の固定式等速自在継手。
- 前記外側継手部材のトラック溝および前記内側継手部材のトラック溝の曲率中心を、継手の軸線上に配置した請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の固定式等速自在継手。
- 前記外側継手部材のトラック溝および前記内側継手部材のトラック溝の曲率中心を、継手の軸線より半径方向にオフセットした位置に配置した請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の固定式等速自在継手。
- 前記ボールの個数を、6個、8個、10個又は12個の何れかとした請求項1〜5の何れか一項に記載の固定式等速自在継手。
