Abstract

Claims (15)
- マルチモード光ファイバにおいて、
外側クラッドで取り囲まれた中心コアであって、(i)外半径r1、(ii)アルファ屈折率分布、(iii)前記外側クラッドに対するゼロ以下の最大屈折率差Δn1、及び(iv)前記外半径r1において、前記外側クラッドとの最小屈折率差Δnendを有する中心コアと、
前記中心コアと前記外側クラッドとの間に位置決めされ、前記外側クラッドとの負屈折率差を有する内部クラッド層とを有し、
前記中心コアは、0.1重量パーセント以下の最大ゲルマニウム濃度を有し、
前記中心コアは、0.1重量パーセント以下の平均塩素濃度を有し、
前記外半径r1において、前記中心コアは、3重量パーセント以上の最小フッ素濃度を有するマルチモード光ファイバ。 - 前記内部クラッド層は、前記中心コアを直接取り囲む内側クラッドであり、前記内側クラッドは、(i)外半径r2、(ii)幅w2、及び(iii)前記外側クラッドとの負屈折率差Δn2を有する、請求項1に記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記マルチモード光ファイバは、
前記中心コアと前記外側クラッドとの間に位置決めされた埋め込みトレンチであって、(i)外半径r3、(ii)幅w3、及び(iii)Δn3<Δnendとなるように前記外側クラッドとの負屈折率差Δn3を有する埋め込みトレンチと、
前記埋め込みトレンチと前記外側クラッドとの間に位置決めされた中間クラッドであって、(i)外半径r4、(ii)幅w4、及び(iii)前記外側クラッドとの負屈折率差Δn4を有する中間クラッドとを有する、請求項2に記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。 - 前記マルチモード光ファイバは、
前記中心コアと前記外側クラッドとの間に位置決めされた埋め込みトレンチであって、(i)外半径r3、(ii)幅w3、及び(iii)Δn3<Δnendになるような前記外側クラッドとの負屈折率差Δn3を有する埋め込みトレンチを有し、
前記内部クラッド層は、前記埋め込みトレンチと前記外側クラッドとの間に位置決めされた中間クラッドであり、前記中間クラッドは、(i)外半径r4、(ii)幅w4、及び(iii)前記外側クラッドとの負屈折率差Δn4を有する、請求項1に記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。 - 前記中心コアは、前記中心コアのゲルマニウム濃度が0.005重量パーセント未満にであり、実質的にゲルマニウム・ドーパントがない、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記マルチモード光ファイバは、20以上、好ましくは25以上、好ましくは48以上、最も好ましくは60以上のコア−クラッド平均ハロゲン比率を有する、請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記マルチモード光ファイバは、前記中心コアの外半径r1において50〜500のハロゲン比率を有する、請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記マルチモード光ファイバは、20以上、好ましくは30〜170のコア平均ハロゲン比率を有する、請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記中心コアは、0.08重量パーセント以下、好ましくは0.07重量パーセント以下、より好ましくは0.06重量パーセント以下、最も好ましくは0.05重量パーセント以下の平均塩素濃度を有する、請求項1〜8のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記中心コアの幅全体にわたって、前記中心コアの塩素濃度が、0.1重量パーセント未満、好ましくは0.08重量パーセント未満、より好ましくは0.07重量パーセント未満、最も好ましくは0.05重量パーセント未満である、請求項1〜9のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記外半径r1において、前記中心コアが、3.5重量パーセント以上、好ましくは4.0重量パーセント以上、最も好ましくは4.5重量パーセント以上の最小フッ素濃度を有する、請求項1〜10のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記中心コアの最小屈折率差Δnendが、−21x10−3以上、好ましくは−14x10−3〜−20x10−3、より好ましくは−15x10−3〜−16x10−3である、請求項1〜11のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記中心コアの最大屈折率差Δn1が、0〜−5x10−3、好ましくは−0.05x10−3〜−2x10−3である、請求項1〜12のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記埋め込みトレンチの屈折率差Δn3と前記中心コアの最小屈折率Δnendとの差が、−1x10−3〜−15x10−3、好ましくは−3x10−3〜−13x10−3、より好ましくは−5x10−3〜−11x10−3、最も好ましくは−6x10−3〜−10x10−3である、請求項3〜13のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
- 前記埋め込みトレンチの体積v3が、260%・μm2以上、好ましくは280%・μm2〜450%・μm2、より好ましくは300%・μm2〜425%・μm2、最も好ましくは350%・μm2〜400%・μm2である、請求項3〜14のいずれかに記載のマルチモード光ファイバ。
